Affordable and well-run, even on a low-occupancy Monday. They even provided free firewood at the tent site. Be sure to check out their cabins. They look really cute and comfy. Only downside, tenting, is that due to Hwy 6 construction, lots of detour traffic goes right by Red Rider. Kinda noisy, but didn't disturb my sleep after 7 hours pounding the Cuyuna Bike Trails!

The Bathrooms are being updated along with many other updates and looks great. The grounds are kept clean and the neighboring campers are wonderful. If you are looking for a fun seasonal campground, I would strongly urge against staying here. The management has control issues, are very rude most of the time, and they will charge you extra for everything possible. We were on our 2nd season staying here as Full Time RVers. We have traveled to numerous campgrounds for weeks to months at a time, and have never been treated so poorly as we were at Birch Bay. Knowing that we lived there (and it was our home location), they kicked us out mid-season, giving us a week to leave without discussion. This, for doing absolutely NOTHING against the rules. We were up singing around a campfire with many friends (from the campground) on a Saturday night, up until quiet time, which was 11 PM at this time (as read in our contract. I see now that they have changed that to 10:30pm). At 10:59 PM the music was shut off. At 11:02, management called our cell phone and said, "Party is over...meet me in the office at 9AM", where they proceeded to say we needed to leave and had a week to do so. The last comment made from management was to "make sure your friends knew you are taking the fall!" Who does this?! A couple hours later, management did come back and offer us a different site back in the woods, but again, made a comment about making sure our friends stay away! So, not only did they kick us out without talking about noise levels acceptable during normal hours, they then wanted to control who and how many friends we hung out with! We left the next day! I wouldn't recommend this campground to my worst enemy. If you like to be controlled and treated poorly, this may be the campground for you. I know they will come back with a rebuttal as they always do too turn the blame against the camper, but how many times can they do this too campers before people see right through them.

Nicely decorated with a balcony and table with umbrella off the back. Spacious bathrooms nicely tiled, shower in one, tub in the other. Great location, close to a lot of nice spots. We were there for the Jenkins, VFW's 40th anniversary celebration. (Best meat raffle in the state) We'd most definitely go again! The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the landscaping wasn't finished at that time, it was that new. But judging by the rest of the place, I'm sure it will be lovely, when completed. The location and overall grounds are nice and well kept, but way too much 'bling' (statues,…read moreknick-knacks, etc). Way overdone to the point that it's cluttered. There's an overall mindset amongst seasonals to 'keep up with the Jones' with respect to yard appearance, RV's, trailers, etc. I was a seasonal for three years, and ultimately the last straw was when it was suggested to me that I don't return the next season unless I upgraded my 28 foot travel trailer to something newer, because it didn't fit the look and feel of the place (apparently something older than 7 years wasn't good enough?). Also, management is very good at one thing: watching everyone like a hawk. If you want to always feel like you're every move is being scrutinized, this is the place for you!
