We have had the great pleasure of having RollShield of Clearwater Florida handle three different projects to manufacture and install their motorized hurricane shutters and some Custom Window Systems (CWS) windows. I have previously noted in an earlier review what an impressive and fantastic job RollShield did installing our first set of motorized hurricane shutters across the "water facing" backside of our house. They were very knowledgeable of all the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone HVHZ Certification and other certifications. RollShield made sure our shutters not only met but also exceeded the Florida Building Code (FBC) for our zone. Don Nowacki, the RollShield Sales Lead, was especially helpful in assisting our understanding of these codes, the importance of compliance, scheduling a tour of the Roll Shield fabrication facilities, and coordinating the overall sale from initial contract to final building code inspections. Gregg Howard was amazingly detailed and communicative in the developing the installations plans---We felt well-informed along each step of the project. RollShield's installation team, led by Trey, was a team of highly professional and exceptionally skilled technicians. I was particularly impressed how well the installation team cleaned up each day and kept us informed of the next day's planned activities before departing. It was a fantastic experience with the project completing on schedule and on-cost. Our second project (phase 2) started in December 2021. We contracted with RollShield to install additional hurricane shutters around the rest of our house and replace several windows with "Custom Window Systems" (CWS) windows. As in the first phase, Don, Gregg, and Trey were very focused on making sure we received high quality products and installation services--Once again, we were absolutely delighted and could not have been happier with the RollShield Team. As with their hurricane shutters, they are also experts with CWS windows, and we were very pleased with the quality of the windows as well as the perfect installation process. As we all know, "post-covid" was a tough time for everyone; it was hard to get products, employees were constantly quitting to go elsewhere, etc. I urge everyone to remember and be patient for what smaller companies were having to deal with "post-covid". That being said, there were a couple minor "perturbations" during this phase 2, but RollShield always found a creative ingenious work-around and got the job done. I can absolutely say "RollShield always made things right". They are very committed to customer service and customer satisfaction. During May 2023, RollShield did another CWS window installation project for us. All went great again, all went on schedule, and met their cost quote. In closing and in final testament to this team and their products, I want especially note that neither our house nor any of our windows/doors suffered any damage during the Fall 2024 hurricane disasters. And..keep in mind that we are "bay front" right on Boca-Ciega Bay. This, by itself, is a top-notch accolade for the RollShield Team and products. For my future needs, RollShield is going to be the first company I call. read more

I would never recommend them . getting a hurricane shutter should not have been this difficult. there legal department called me today looking for there permit money . The price was right but the efficiency of installation is awful --they are disorganized and very slow. If you are not comfortable leaving your property in a strangers' hands stay away from them. So far, their incompetent scheduling has taken 2 full days of my work-life. As I write this the shutters are still not up and running. Would not recommend. read more

Don't waste your time getting an appointment. We had a 6 PM appointment scheduled at our home to quote 3 motored retractable units. I received reminders by text to my phone. Prior to the 6 appointment, oddly three hours earlier I received a motion sensor alarm, and saw a man taking photos over our 6' high fence. No one called or rang the doorbell. I had no idea who the person was. Later, I received a phone call from the sales representative at 6:09 PM. Three hours later he called to say he stopped by but didn't have time to ring the bell, talk or call. The unidentified man took photos from over the high fence into the direction of our pool and backyard. After missing the appointment he asked me to text him my email. Horrible customer service. We signed our service agreement in December and no install date after months of calling, only to be forwarded to a full voicemail, most of the time. After finally getting a response, a representative reached out a few times to say, basically, "any day now.. you should be receiving a call soon." Empty promises. We have the first hurricane of the season brewing in the Atlantic and no service. I understand delays but communicate. Don't use this company. read more

One star is too generous. Rollshield and its owner Greg Moore are frustrating, unreliable and untruthful. We had a pergola installed in 2021 by Rollshield. I have been dealing with them re completing the pemitting process for 3 years. Mr. Moore has not yet completed our permiting even though Rollshield demanded payment (of the permitting fee) in advance and received payment 10/2020 and a permit extension fee (they missed deadlines) paid 02/22. They threatend a lien on the property for non-payment. There is no contact unless it is made by me. He gives a littany of excuses as to why the final permits haven't been issued on my property. It has been necessary to drive 1 hour to their shop and speak face to face with the owner to get any real response. However the promises made at that time are still unfulfilled. I have spoken with the City of Tampa construction permitting department. They have no power to enforce, and suggested I pay another contractor to complete the process. I have given up on trying to make the pergola waterproof. We just dont use the deck when it is raining (5 visits and still leaking). My primary goal now is to avoid financial losses related to an unpermitted structure on my home. My neighbor's (identical) pergola was lost during Milton, and as it was not permitted insurance has declined to cover the 25,000$ cost of replacement. These people should not be dealt with. This is a horrible company. I signed the contract for a patio Enclosure on August 10. The salesperson, Mr. Pete Noto said that it will be completed in 8-10 weeks. It is already 11 weeks and they haven't even started with concrete flooring. I have called them numerous times. Nobody has a clue on the status our project. I emailed the owner Greg Moore. He replied saying that his managers in the Patio department are horrible. He promised to get to the bottom of it. But I haven't heard from him after that. I regret to have gone with company. Do NOT use this company. They are terrible communicators and go back on their word constantly. They said they ordered my windows, 3 months later they called and told me they were never ordered. They 'ordered' them again and a month later found out they 'ordered the wrong ones'. They'll pull you in by collecting your deposit and then with repeated errors will keep pushing you off and pushing you off. It's a total scam and not worth the time. I'm not one to EVER complain but I feel like I have to in this instance. I ordered storm shutters for my home and was told it takes 7-10 weeks for them to be custom built for my home. Nearly 4 months later and after several calls I finally got on the schedule for installation. However when the guys showed up they found that they were measured incorrectly and had to be rebuilt. I was told that I would be pushed to the front of the list and it would be done within a week. 3 weeks later after several calls they were installed. Still waiting for them to come put trim pieces up after the inspection. To be clear I like the product, but customer service is HORRIBLE. If you call me to say you will be at my home at a certain time then be there, or at least communicate. Wish I had looked at the reviews before I went with their company. Looks like I'm not the only one with issues. read more

Unfortunately it is difficult to find good contractors now and this company fits the bill. It has been almost two years dealing with them and the project is still incomplete. This company built a sunroom from our existing porch. The slab of concrete is uneven, the roof leaks and the electrical inspection the was just completed failed. The only reason I held off on the review was because I feel like the company would be less responsive after seeing it. The only way to move forward on anything is to call them every day until something happens. The project was started over a year ago in December. Once they get paid it is impossible to get things fixed through them and every time you call they say the staff member dealing with the project was either fired or quit. I would not rely on them to come out when they say they will either, and do not expect a follow up call. read more

Buyer Beware: The Materials Used By this Company Will Not Be Warranteed. You may be told that up front and even see it in their paperwork but it DOES NOT mean that they will stand behind it. You will get product with manufacturing defects installed which they say will be replaced at the end of the job. But once finished you will be told to take it up with the manufacturer. They would rather go through the court process with lawyers than take care of the warrantee work. Run don't walk to a reputable firm that stands behind their warrantees. If you find a good review here it is because they happened to get undamaged products installed. They were just lucky. read more

NEVER recommend Roll Shield.  Their sales person did a smooth pitch, Quit the company and did not hand over to another person in the company. There was no one person coordinating from start to finish.  We had to be proactive in following up with calls every step of the way, needing reminders to respond to our queries.  To this day we're still awaiting responses to several requests/queries.  We were sold the motorized hurricane shutter to enclose lanai as an alternate to protection to 3 doors and a window. There is no way to roll down shutter manually in case power goes out before the hurricane hits. Now they are telling us that shutter is too big for manual operation (Other companies have manual over-ride). They said that they would have offered a battery powered over-ride for $1250 more. We can't get a response if it could be retrofitted. We have sent several emails to Sales Manager with complete silence on their end. Had we known this we would have looked for another company. It has been a most unpleasant and stressful experience dealing with them. They also have not scheduled the inspection. STAY AWAY from them! read more

They say they are coming in the morning and show up in the afternoon. They don't even have qualified workers to perform the job right. If I could give less than a full star I would. Worst experience in our home renovation by far and this should have been the simplest. From start to finish the process has been like getting a root canal. Salesperson over promised and extremely under delivered. I strongly encourage reconsideration if you are thinking about using them. I am also strongly considering giving the home resource that advertised them a call as well. Original sales person bad mouthed a product we considered (renaissance) and indicated locally manufacturing and production of alternate product would be expedited and more cost effective. It hasn't. All their timelines super skewed. Promised June installation and they could not even get their act together for proper permits until July. Problems with permitting., I gave them the benefit of the doubt but I really wonder if it was the city or Rollshield's poor overall handling. 1st Scheduled appointment for installation...OH wait the materials aren't here yet and unsure when they will be 2 months later here we come. Received the call the night before At this point we thought it was all down hill when they said material were delivered. Once again Rollshield proved me wrong. Multiple appointments scheduled for installation, only once were we ever called to advise they needed to reschedule. Purchased in March and still waiting on satisfactory completed installation. Finally they start in October, but wait it continues. They left a piece off in installation which ended up causing mold in panels to start growing and patio leaked after first rain. They supposedly knew the piece was left off but never thought to mention it. Guess they hoped we wouldn't notice or time would pass. After first rain the roof already leaking. Original salesperson said that if we had fans available when electrician arrived to do wiring that they would hang them. Get a call, from electrician and distraught wife that fan installation was not part of the agreement and extra. At this point I just want it over with so I grudgingly paid the electrician especially since I couldn't get anyone from Rollshield to answer my call. Electrician indicated I wasn't the only unhappy Rollshield client and that this was there frequent method of operating. Could we take it up with salesperson? Nope no longer there so our word versus his. Rollshield gets back with me after I have to chase them down for a call back or update regarding a repair. They latest update inform me that it may take take another 2 weeks so they will have materials for repair their screw ups and patch the leaks. Another 2 weeks but I have no faith in any estimate they have provided. I've heard of lemon autos but not patios before. I can recommend many local business and often do so but, seldom have I found the need to warn people to run from doing business with a company. Avoid Rollshield like the plague unless you like being frustrated frequently. read more

Made our house burglar proof as well as hurricane proof. Came out very nicely and works perfect. They are very professional, they care about their work and they care about customer satisfaction. Stay away! I signed my contract on 02/06/23 to install a patio. It is now 08/02/23 and work has not even been scheduled to begin! I have been lied to and stalled all along the way. I was told there was a permit pulled when there wasn't. When they finally did pull the permit a month after they said they had, they are charging me extra money for the permit. ZERO STARS! Called Rollshield to come out to give us an estimate on bahama shutters for the front of our home. Before coming I received a call from the guy coming to give us an estimate, who wanted to tell me that their shutters where kind of expensive and didn't want to waste time if we weren't going to be able to purchase. I explained that we were more than capable of buying their shutters. The quote for 2 bahama shutters was approximately $2500 of which we paid half. We were given a copy of our contract and it said estimated time to installation would be 8 to 10 weeks. The date was July 7th 2020... we had no word or contact from Rollshield and finally in October I called the office, the girl that answered could not find our info but transferred me to Greg Howard, I left a voice mail. He finally called me back and said that he checked with the supplier and our shutters would be done and sent to them by the end of the week. The end of the week came and no word... I called again a few weeks later and was told that due to covid that the supplier was behind but that they should receive the shutters by the end of the week. By the middle of October I called again and this time I spoke with Tom, explained what I had been told so far and he apologized and said that the information I had been given was wrong, but assured me that the shutters were being finished with their supplier and would be in by the end of the week... I was very upset and told him I expected a call back from his manager. Later that day I received a call from their NEW manager and he was very sorry I had been lied to, I knew that our order had never been put in and I was upset that I had been lied to. He explained that he was hired for exactly this reason, due to their response and customer service being poor. It took a few more weeks and I finally got a call a few days before we were leaving for a vacation, to schedule the shutters to be installed, we had to wait yet again till we got back and the installers came out on November 16th... unfortunately the installation was not what we were shown at the time of signing the contract, the salesman said that the shutters came with a slid pin to lock the shutters in place, but when the installer got there he said the shutters did not come with that and he would have to add a clip with some screws that we could use instead. My husband was not happy and told them to leave and we called the company to complain. We were told that that pin was for a different type of shutter and it does not come with the ones we got! Shoddy work, only one screw to mount to the wall... just not $2500 worth of product or installation... Finally, we agreed to settle with the temp fix and the shutters were installed November 20th! Since all of this transpired we have not received any follow-up from the company... they could can less, they got our money and they got us out of their hair. Here are the main facts regarding my experience. It was for hurricane shutters (around a $17k job). Lack of Organization and Communication: Management (Dave) did not share the failed inspection report with his team, and as a result when they arrived they needed to pick up supplies. Receiving written correspondence was almost impossible from Dave. Sales (Matt) did not consult with us on all of the installation options available (ex: should we extend a cover for aesthetics, etc.) and did not show up multiple pictures of the installed product (just one picture, blurry). The installation team was missing 3 panels and a large corner cover when they were initially "finished". Lack of Customer Service: The installers would not acknowledge me if I was standing there for 10 minutes. One didn't speak any English and the other spoke broken English. One time they went to pull some screws to show me them and when they didn't come back after 9 minutes I went to find them and they had the screws in their lap while smoking in their car. Lack of Pride in Work: Failed inspection for more than one reason. Initially one door was done with flat screws on one side and 1.5" protruding screws on the other. It looked ridiculous. Many protruding 1.5" screws had 0.75" caps on them (mismatched), because they ran out of the other covers. It took nearly a month to receive the correct ones. The team used red chalk to mark lines which was not easy for me to remove. I ended up repainting. My opinion (based on the facts): I am very disappointed with the experience in many ways, and I will not recommend this company to friends and neighbors. Lots of folks in my community would be potential customers, and some already asked about them. My wife and I were put through a lot of stress through this process and felt that we needed to babysit the installers and nag the team to follow up with addressing the screw caps, the failed inspection, etc. In my experience, besides cashing my check quickly the only other aspect of the company that seemed efficient were the receptionists who seemed well organized and friendly/understanding. read more

I do not recommend this company at all. We spent 20K with them and it was nothing but problems and b.s. from the beginning. First the salesman made promises that were not true. He told us that they manufactured everything and that the roll down shutters would come in in about 8 weeks. 4 MONTHS LATER they told us they did not manufacturer the roll shade we ordered and after many fights they finally arrived. Then they worked for about 3 days and wouldn't come down properly. The company couldn't even schedule the inpection correctly and when I called about the problems -- today -- no one could even bother to return my call or pick up my call. I wish I hadn't paid cash, or I would stop the payment on my credit card. WHAT EVER YOU DO -- DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ROLLSHIELD!!!! read more

As an experienced roofing adjuster who had dealt with plenty of roofs and patio enclosures over the years that needed to be replaced after the storms we get, I am appalled at this company and it's practices!! We spent about $20,000.00 grand on a new patio roof that is in my book is a complete new build. There are so many problems with this roof I do not even know where to begin. Actually I do know where to begin it's with the BBB. Pleas do not use this company. The lack of communication is horrible and when you do get a hold of someone, they lack of knowledge and subpar knowledge of the product is ridiculous. I was even given his number and told to call him anytime to get help but when i do, i constantly get a message that he doesn't take calls. STAY AWAY - DO NOT USE - LIARS AND PROFESSIONAL STORY TELLERS In February, 2018 we contracted with Rollshield to install hurricane protection on two (2) of our homes. The work is just not almost completed. We are being billed for "safe-s-cape" window units on all of our windows, however each of our windows was not installed with this product. We were told after the fact that "safe-s-cape" windows aren't available on windows with arches. However, our quotes all mention Safe-S-Cape w/ Arches. They have not adjusted their billing to reflect the reduced product cost due to the windows lacking Safe-S-Cape. It has taken almost a year for this job to be completed. They have strung us along time after time, lied about when they were coming, never showed up, would show up and do a couple hours of work and disappear, we had to call them numerous times to tell them they forgot something, didn't do something, something was broken. They have borrowed tools from us to use; we have spoken to almost everyone in the office, our salesperson, Ray, never called us until a couple weeks ago when he wanted payment...so he could get his commission...and the jobs were completed....nor signed off by the inspectors. We have spoken with Greg Moore, CEO/Owner, several times and he just goes on and on and on. Talks about his warehouse guy that used to run the place being demoted and will soon be terminated, he's going to send me a gift card for my favorite restaurant for being so helpful and understanding of their organizational issues/challengers. Again it has taken 10 months to have this job completed; which we were told would be done in June 2018. We have tried to be understanding and cooperative, but they are being rude now and do not want to adjust anything due to their failed management and operations. WE USED THEM THIS TIME AS THEY HAD DONE TWO OTHER HOMES, LANAI ENCLOSURES, AND EVERYTHING WENT OFF WITHOUT A HITCH, SO WE ASSUMED THIS WOULD BE OUR EXPERIENCE AGAIN - NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. read more

It is not about the quality of the Hurricane Shutters or even the time it takes to get them installed ( about a 6 month waiting list). The issue with this company is follow up, notification and finishing the install in a timely manor. Once work began it took one day to do the initial install, two weeks later to get the electrical work and now still waiting a month later for final "punch list" to be completed. While the staff both the installers and office are nice they are just not very organized. Not having the correct tools, scheduling and keeping the customer updated are the basis for this average review. read more

Greg, the owner took a personal interest and recommended great windows for us. Rollshield only charged us for the contract price and didn't nickel and dime us. We are happy. read more
