Dioscorea alata is the plant's scientific name that bears purple yam which creates the famous desert Ube or here in Canada better known as taro in bubble tea, is indigenous to Asia, specifically grown in the Philippines. I AM A PURPLE DESSERT OBSESSED FREAK!!! And I am from the thousand islands who are all too familiar in adding these beautifully hued carbs in every dessert from cake to ice cream. So naturally, when I found out that Rollz were rolling out these bad boys on a metal frozen board to create these twists on which you can pick and choose toppings was enough to make me visit twice in one week. It tastes like great quality ice cream, creamy and delectable and downright TARO!!! I mean I've tasted ice cream sold here in grocery stores from the Philippines, and it doesn't even come close to tasting like real UBE/Taro and it ain't cheap because it is 'imported'. So not all parameters are being met just because it comes from the roots. I make UBE Halaya all the time every Christmas season, then give them away in gift baskets for the family and friends, so I am a self proclaimed UBE crackerjack with critical shrewdness similar to Simon Cowell, so I know it when I see good purple stuff. This purple stuff is done properly here, and yes there are many other flavours but if you are a fan of my main subject in this review, then you've come to the right place!
If you have the time to wait at LEAST half an hour for your ice cream then this is the place for you. They offer waffles along with specialty thai roll ice cream. With special seasonal flavours like dragonfruit, blueberry lemon and peach this place has the potential to be great. The passion pinnacle ice cream i had which was a mix of passionfruit and pineapple was delicious, i highly recommend that flavour. The service, however was terrible. It took us about half an hr to get our ice cream. I've had meals at restaurants come out quicker than that ice cream. When we ordered our passion pinacle, the lady at the cashier said mint julep? We said no passion pinnacle. Guess which order they made?? The minute they made the mint julep we instantly told them so we ordered passion pinnacle. The lady said "No, you said mint julep. You ordered mint julep." She then pointed to my friend who ordered and said "You Sir, said mint julep. You ordered mint julep but we will change it for you." I told her that she said mint julep and we corrected her but she continued to say that we were in the wrong but no worries because they would accommodate us. Pride is a funny emotion. Be proud of your ice cream, it is good. However, be humble in your words, especially when it is your word vs two customers. You almost had two loyal customers for life. Now you lost two loyal customers for life. Will definitely not return.
Visited Rollz for the second time and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. Ordered the Oreo & Ferrero rocher! They were so good, service was also amazing, cashier was really patient, funny and making great recommendations. I am really glad I went back, this will probably become one of my regular dessert spots.
My cousins and I were at a family get together near by and even though there was dessert there, we all wanted to try something new. Of course after searching places on Yelp, this place caught my eye. Upon arrival, we were greeted and the staff seemed really friendly. There were plenty of seating and the shop itself looked clean. I ordered the Roasted Pistachio and wow, it was AMAZING! I loved it! Only thing would be that it was so frozen once I received it, so I couldn't enjoy it right away. They have a lot of flavours to choose from as the base, however I feel like they can add more toppings that you can choose from.
I always wanted to try Thai rolled ice cream I got the matcha ice cream with toppings with tapioca I like watching how they make it but I want to try the one in downtown place is a little pricey but they give a lot so it's okay I guess. I didn't get insane matcha flavour but overall not bad good effort
Between Sumilicious, Happy Hakka, and now Rollz Ice Cream, along with the new Field Fresh restaurant, the Milliken Crossing plaza is getting some new tenants! Rollz offers Thai Style rolled ice cream and chimney cakes at a comparable price (see Thai QQ Ice Cream) but with outstanding customer service and a wide variety of flavors. Colourful decor in a small space. On a Monday evening, this place was PACKED, so I can't even imagine the line ups on a weekend afternoon. $6.50 for 5 rolls of ice cream in a big cup. Off the top of my head, these looked bigger than the ones I've been to for the same price, but it might just be the angles. They have two "rolling trays" where they roll and make the ice cream on the spot for you. It's always fun to see, although the novelty might wear off after a while. We ordered the Mango flavour, and this was done pretty efficiently. Very tasty treat on a hot day! Staff were incredibly friendly and approachable. I'll be back to try the chimney cakes!

I have ordered roll icecream (includes 3 free toppings) mango delight, rocky road and new flavor birthday cake. All delicious and so much fun watching your ice cream be made. Cash and debit only.
This newly opened rolled ice cream shop in the area is delicious! The workers are very nice and helpful. Even though the wait was slightly longer than most rolled ice cream places, it was understandable because it was there was quite a few people ahead of us. There were probably 20 different preset standard flavours to choose from at $6.50 + tax each. They had premium flavours or a make your own flavour option for $7.50. We had ordered Mango, Matcha, Banana and Nutella and Strawberry Cheesecake. All these flavours came to $6.50 each. My favourite was the banana nutella flavour. It wasn't too sweet because of the banana balancing the flavours. The mango was my second favourite followed by matcha. The matcha flavour had a matcha kit kat mixed in! They had a glassed area where you can watch the rolls being made. The guys working there were very quick and nice. Prior to them actually rolling the sheets of ice cream, they ask if you want to have caramel, condensed milk, or chocolate drizzled over it. You're given 3 toppings after the fact and they have a bunch of toppings. My favourite was the yogurt boba topping! Definitely worth coming back as this is one of the best thai rolled ice cream I've had!
This place just opened so we had to try it. The place has limited tables but really you don't need to sit to eat, I would take it and go for a stroll around the block. Prices are very fair at $6.50 for Thai Ice cream rolls including 3 toppings. The amount they give is fairly generous with lots of selection. Staff was very friendly as well which contributes to the 5 stars. I would definitely go back! If you're new to Thai Ice cream, I would recommend the Nutella and banana, it is delicious!

While they were quick to take my order, I had to wait almost 15 minutes for my ice cream - the pair inside actually hadn't gotten their order made yet. Watching them, the workers were moving very slow; not too sure if they were new or not. As I ate, more people started to stop by and the line reached the door. If this is the case when you arrive, expect to be standing 20+ minutes for the entire process (to order and be out) The rolled ice cream itself tasted good (actually might prefer it over QQ Thai at Midland). I would go back but if there are already a lot of people inside, I would definitely go somewhere else for dessert.
One of the best, and probably one of the cheapest places for Thai rolled ice cream in Toronto. There's a very large selection of flavours to choose from. They also have dipped ice cream, waffles, and milkshakes. Service is fairly good and the wait is fairly quick if the line isn't long. Last time I came, the line was pretty long and it took around 30 minutes before I got my ice cream. They are pretty generous on the amount given of each of the three toppings. Remember to add a sauce!

Probably my favourite Thai roll ice cream place! The staff are super knowledgeable and friendly, and they recommend the hottest seasonal flavours as well. The price range is from $6-9 which is reasonably priced for the portion size. The flavours are well balanced, not overly sweet or flavoured. The pistachio is by far my favourite! The interior is colourful with the menu listed with all the different flavours and toppings. They also have chimney cones and waffles! Definitely worth the visit!!! read more

Nothing like cold refreshing icecream after a long day in the sun. Even better when its made right in front of you with real fruit! Giving this place 5 stars because the staff was super friendly, very entertaining to watch the rolls being made and the flavours really come out. We tried 2 different flavours - cookies and cream and the passion fruit. Both were delicious and unlike some icecream places, the ingredients were well mixed so that every bite had the flavour u ordered. You also get to choose 3 toppings, which they have so many to choose from. I choose 3 and the lady that was serving me said i should also try a couple more toppings like the jelly bubbles and syrups. So she added it in without charge. Definitely excellent service. If you are in the area, its a great place to try out. read more
Ice cream comes rolled, who knew!! This is so refreshing after a hot summer day. The menu is extensive, tons of choices and you get 3 free toppings on top. Staff are very nice, you need to have patience at this place. If you're expecting McDonald's like speed, this isn't the place for you. Everything is made to order and rolled right in front of you! I absolutely love this place! I've always been a fan of Thai style ice cream ever since I tried it in Thailand. There are alreadg set ice cream choices for you to choose from or you can create you own. What I absolutely love is that one of the "create you own" options includes a diabetic sugar free base. Thats great for people like me who are cautious of their diet but still crave sweets! It is also affordable and has 20 or more toppings to choose from! I created my own and choose Oreos and smarties to be in my base that's topped with jelly, gummy bears and sprinkles. It was amazing and my boyfriend who doesn't love sweets loved it too! read more

I have been meaning to try this place ever since it opened. Quite honestly, after trying it, I'm kind of glad I didn't before, as I definitely am going to be a frequent customer now! This ice cream was probably the best ice cream I have ever had! Literally every bite was packed with flavour, and mouth-wateringly good. My taste buds were taken on a true adventure! I got the Bombay Kulfi, and my friend got the Rose Pistachio. Both were amazing. I see a lot of negative reviews with the waiting time and service. I found the service to be great, and yes it did take 30 mins to get my ice cream. However, sometimes great things take time! You must keep in mind that they are making the ice cream when you order, rather than having it ready when you walk through the door! I definitely will be back to try other flavours. read more

Checked out this fairly new ice cream shop specializing in Thai Rolled Ice Cream, as well as chimney cones. Menu is very extensive with a lot of sweet and fruity flavours to choose from. Each ice cream includes 3 toppings of your choice and sauce to top it all off. The price came down to $6.50 each, a pretty good price to say the least. We got the Mango Delight and Birthday Cake and they were really good! The ice cream was super creamy and not too sweet and the portion size was very generous. They also drizzled sauce on the ice cream before rolling it up which we thought was very smart. The service was amazing and the place itself was nice and vibrant. First of all; massive portions. I could barely finish it and for $6 something and tax, its somr grrst value. There are a variety of flavours and I was pleased to see such an abundance of fresh fruit being used and legitimate toppings. The mango flavoured utilized fresh mango, which is always a good sign, and was true to the flavour. I found it to be overly sweet but it was creamy and delicious nonetheless. As for toppings, you are able to choose up to three and there's everything from fresh fruit, cookies that they will graciously crush for you as a topping, and a variety of syrups. Despite its placement in an odd plaza, it's worth trying for big portions and pretty comparable quality! read more

If you love ice cream, there are definitely a lot of cool flavours to try here. Personally, I don't care much for rolled ice cream and find it to be overhyped. I decided to try it anyways and had the Ferrero rocher flavor. The ice cream itself was good, but nothing overly special. The guy rolling the ice cream was near the back of the store, but you could hear him slapping away at it. I also found it way overpriced for the amount of ice cream that you get. It's rolled so it takes up a lot of space in your cup, but if you were to compare the amount of ice cream you're getting, it's really not that much. I think it's more something that people like to try out and experience (and get aesthetic pictures) rather than enjoy it as a unique ice cream. It's tucked behind the bank so you have to walk on the sidewalk to get to it, you won't see the store by parking in the lot. It can be kind of hard to miss in that sense. I probably wouldn't return but I'm glad I finally joined in and saw what this hype was about. Then again, if you like rolled ice cream, you'd probably like this place quite a bit. read more

I killed this trend and felt it was over until I visited Rollz. They have excellent customer service, the patron gave me recommendations and helped me pick my 3 free toppings. Ice cream was very delish and flavorful, I got a waffle cookie, popping mango boba, condensed milk and cheesecake bits on roasted pistachio rolls. This portion is good for 2 people in my opinion, I spent around $7-$8. I would definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

I've only been here twice and the service has always been A1. They're super nice, knowledgeable of their products and are always asking if you need help deciding because we all know how hard it is to pick an ice cream flavour. As mentioned, on top of the 3 toppings you pick, they also ask if you'd like any sauce drizzled on or mixed in with your ice cream which is really nice! The space itself is cute with adequate seating areas and the wallpaper was designed by the owner himself which was really cool. The flavours they offer are a good variety of fruity to more chocolate and decadent flavours like strawberry cheesecake, birthday cake and so forth. Compared to other rolled ice cream places that I've tried, Rollz's probably has the best portion for the price ($6.50) and the rolls are actually larger and creamier than other places. If you're in the area, definitely try them out! read more

long line ups and understaffed but definitely a great addition to the up and coming Markham grub! the chimney churro cones were hard on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. If you ever find yourself in the area, hit up Doner king and wash off the spice with some refreshing thai roll ice cream! read more

Yummersssss!! So good one is good for 2 people, the price is great as well.. I think $7 or $8? Tastes so fresh and 3 free toppings with each order is great as well. Nice workers and pretty clean place over all. Entertaining to watch being made as well obviously read more
