I came in to Roma Imports on a Saturday to get a meal for myself and my wife who was at work as a cook at the U of A. I was hoping to surprise her so that she could relax and not do any more cooking. I picked up my to go order and proceeded to my home and i set up the meal for her on our plates. When my wife arrived she said i love that you did this but this food in not fresh. This food must have been left over from a previous day, so she proceeded to throw all of the food into the trash. I did leave a complaint as a review and never expecting to hear from them at all. To my surprise Sara reached out to me and said that she was sorry that we were disappointed about our food. She went on to say that she was willing to refund all of the $41.00 dollars that I spent. I stopped the very next day and received a refund. I was pleased with their willingness to make things right and I will go there again because of their desire to make us satisfied. The menu is very simple but delicious. Everything is made from scratch and they also have a little shop which is right when you go in! The freezer has delicious house made meals and other meats and desserts. The ambiance is nice the employees were great! Never felt rushed and they were very helpful! Definitely will be going back. This place is AMAZING... my original stop was for linguica (Portuguese sausage). Took a sandwich, and fell in LOVE. I took my husband who raved about his vegetarian sandwich all week (he didn't even miss the meat). The service is fantastic, such a variety of delicious options. Ok I'm super sad to write this but I WILL go back n try the sandwiches and update but of course we tried spinach raviolis and eggplant Parmesan n pasta. Spinach Ravioli lunch special. sauce good not great but the eggplant parm was burnt n more like a plate of noodles with a dollop of sauce n burnt eggplant :( then gal said they might not have any more bread? My friend went up n asked for it n she said oops I forgot and brought us what I swear was all the ends. This place is a little out of the way for us coming from Oro Valley, so we try to combine a lunch with shopping for a few things. Their lunch dishes are wonderful: sandwiches, pasta, etc. Reasonably priced, and they pop out of the kitchen really quickly. We buy their Italian sausage on a regular basis, and really like the Dracula sausage, but be advised it is really spicy! The cheese & parsley rope sausage pictured below is really wonderful cooked on the grill. You could pretty much live off the dishes in their freezer case: lasagna, meatballs, fresh ravioli, etc. I have yet to buy anything there that wasn't top-notch. Roma Imports is a charming Italian grocery store and deli located in a Tucson industrial area. To the left of the entrance, an outside menu stand displays Roma Imports' restaurant items, from hot meatball subs to homemade cannolis. Roma Imports primarily carries classic Italian goods but includes additional items from other countries. The shelves of dried Italian pasta of great variety were the most prominent wares. Adjacent to the dried pasta were shelves of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and pasta sauces. However, the most impressive area was the wall of frozen goods. The majority of the food in the freezer is made in-house by Roma Imports and is frozen for customers to reheat at their convenience. Although the freezers predominantly featured Italian ravioli, tortellini, lasagna, soups, and pizza, some surprises from other countries included saag paneer, beef burgundy, and spaetzle. Although the frozen chicken paprikash I tried was average for its price, I enjoyed the spaghetti and chicken parmesan sandwich from their restaurant. WOW!! Amazing find in Tucson! Honestly I didn't know what to expect before stepping foot into Roma imports. A coworker suggested going here for lunch during our break and I was pleasantly surprised by this Italian deli. I spent the past seven years on the East Coast and really miss the amazing Italian delicatessens and now I've found the missing piece to my longing while in Tucson. Roma imports has delicious made to order hot and cold sandwiches. I tried the Italian meatball sandwich and their classic which is a typical Italian sandwich both of which were delicious with multiple flavors, well-made and in a timely manner. Roma imports also have premade Italian pasta dishes, pizzas, appetizers and desserts available for purchase to be made at home. I will certainly be a regular visitor here. Also of note there is a seating area in the back of the deli that is quaint, cute and clean that can seat probably between 20 and 30 people if completely full. If you get your hands on that sandwich and can't wait to eat it you can eat it at the shop itself! read more

Do you know where some of the best Italian food in tucson is? In some random industrial complex near the Kino Sports complex... naturally. After seeing all the 5 star reviews on Yelp my wife and I decided we had to check this place out. After you get over the shock of its location you find a charming little deli. It can get a little crowded during lunch, but after a few minutes wait we were able to find a seat. The cashier recommended the meatball sub so I got that and my wife got the eggplant parm sandwich. The staff was super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and recommending popular dishes. Both of our sandwiches were delicious and came on great crusty rolls. We look forward to coming back and trying more delicious foods. They have multiple freezers full of house-made soups, sauces, pastas and desserts for you to take home. It would be very easy to spend a lot of money here and I think it would be a good investment. read more

Sad to say this but I think Roma has lost their touch. I have always raved about this place and went there to buy some pre packaged items and frozen goodies. I bought quite a bit..several different pasta dishes, sauces, sausages. Started with the marinara, then veggie lasagna and today pork sausage. All have been not good at all. On the verge of throwing everything away. Hate to waste all that money but...really kind of gross tasting. Can't believe I didn't know about this place before! It's in a very industrial part of town and hidden. Unless you know what you're looking for, it's likely that you'll miss is. I love that they have a grocery store like vibe where you can shop and pickup homemade pastas, sauces, desserts. I stopped by for lunch and went with the spicy meatball sandwich. Although it was tasty, it's not the best meatball sub I've ever had. I'm giving this place 4 stars because I'd love to come back and try some of the other delicious sounding items on their menu. I did get some Italian cookies that were delicious but a bit pricey. Years ago when I the NYC area (where I've lived my entire 55 years) and moved to Reno NV, I learned that I was probably never again going to see a real Italian or Jewish Deli. Then I moved to Tubac AZ and again new I wasn't going to find a lot of the foods I was used to. But, alas not quite sure how I found them..but there was Roma Imports. They sell wholesale, do catering, have a deli counter/restaurant and once again I could find good salami, mozzarella and even mortadella. It's a great place...once you find it. Turn in by the Kino statue (off of Kino/Campbell) ..make the first left, then right, then left again. It's hidden in a commercial area. When you enter, if you plan on have lunch...order your lunch and head to the tables in the back...they'll bring your food to you. On the way shop at their deli counter or check out their freezer options. They make their own sausage.. lasagna and other delicious foods that you can purchase. Once a year they have what they call the Winter Italian Feast. They add more table in the store and serve a fantastic tasting menu. This year we had: Antipasti: Baccala Cakes,Rolled Prosciutto Cotto and Green Beans, Foccacia with Gorgonzola and Fig Jam, Prosciutto with fresh Mozzarella & Sundried Tomato & Basil Dressing, Sausage & Broccoli Rolls, Fried Goat Cheese Medallions with Balsamic Glaze, Cipolline Onions, Sweet & Sour Vegetable Platter & Roma Antipasti... and this was just to start. There was nothing in this mix that wasn't YUMMY!! Main Course: Butternut Squash & Pecan Lasagna (this was sinfully delicious), Lamb with Red Wine, Garlic & Anchovies (pretty sure this isn't a typical Italian dish, but it was awesome), Chicken Marsala, Pork Loin Roll stuffed with Sausage, Fig & Walnuts, Orzo with Romano Cheese, Swiss Chard with Pine Nuts and Raisins & Garlic Rosemary Potatoes. But wait, there's more. Dessert: Pistachio Semifreddo, Chocolate Marscapone Roll & Butter Cookies (dipped in absolutely delicious chocolate). To add to this overwhelming amount of food, several members of the staff play the violin and wander through the restaurant entertaining and singing with us. This roughly $50 BYOB event happens a couple of days a year and is always sold out. So if you can't get into the event...remember... you can buy most of this stuff and take it home. Was recommended this place by my fencing coach so had high expectations. Neat to drive to. Unfortunately, the antipasto had a super vinegary one note balsamic dressing which overpowered everything else in the salad. Atop the salad were cheese and salami chunks that were sliced, then diced. It was slices cut to look like chunks, which is extra air exposure and cutting- like 5 little bits of cheese in one chunk idk how to describe it. Preferably, I just want a chunk of cheese from a block, not pre-sliced cheese cut on top of each other. they probably dual use that sliced cheese on the sandwiches. The olives, lettuce, and veggies in the salad were good but again dressing made em less good and unfortunately I had ruined my salad by pouring out too much of this dressing. $10 antipasto salad I would not recommend. However, the Spaghetti and meatballs ($10) were good. My sister really liked it. Dad said the pasta was slightly overcooked and the tomato sauce was too vinegary, not smooth. The sides of bread were good. Tho wasnt a huge fan of the sandwich (also ~$10). The turkey on it looked good & was white meat and I was ok with it, but it was a lil flavorless and the sandwich just didn't Wow. kinda dry like it needed mayo or something. It did have a nice pesto sauce on it. $30 lunch for 3.. kinda high. Probably half a star better than olive garden and I like Olive Garden. Some workers were nice. Cute facade. A painted exgarage. Critiquing is easy and perhaps I should've gone 3 times before writing the truest review.
