What a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The hospitality was incredible, and the food was outstanding. We started with the burrata and calamari, and every dish was flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. We also shared the octopus and meatballs, both of which were exceptional. For our entrées, the chicken parm was excellent, the lemon chicken was unbelievably juicy, and the flank steak with arugula salad was cooked perfectly. For dessert, we enjoyed the tiramisu and panna cotta, which were the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The service truly elevated the experience. Our server provided excellent recommendations throughout the evening, including wine pairings that were absolutely on point. The espresso martini was also one of the best I've had in a long time. We came here on a Saturday night. It's easy to find tables here and plenty of street or garage parking near by. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly. The menu is typical for an Italian restaurant. They have a good selection of wines and drinks. We started the dinner with their complimentary bread and caprese. The bread tasted much better than it looks. Not all Italian restaurants now serve bread to start, so that's definitely a good start. Caprese is good, as you would expect. We asked for more balsamic vinegar because it truly tastes better with it. For our entrees, I enjoyed my Penne al Polpo. Not very strong octopus flavor, but loved it cooked in with the sauce. Penne could be firmer. The spaghetti alle Vongole had strong garlic flavor, and the clams were okay. We had better before, so it's not bad. Overall, we enjoyed the dinner! read more

3.8 This is a hard one. When we entered there was only 2 other parties seated in the whole place. It did have a very weary, almost sad ambiance. They just do a ton of uber eats and take out bc it was a no mans land. They seated us right away but the table wasn't properly set and was almost scattered like someone just threw a few silverware settings and plates down. Super sloppy and it threw us off. The tables need to be replaced, the paint is peeling. There are no candles or center pieces. It's very un kept and does not feel like an Italian restaurant downtown. Our server was very friendly and attentive so he was 5/5. The food was 4./5 but the ambiance and condition of the restaurant were a 2/5. I might get it for take out but I would never eat there again. This place is conveniently located across from Horton Plaza, easy to get to if you're staying downtown San Diego. We made a reservation but didn't need one. It was pretty quiet when we were there. Our server was very polite but not overbearing. Our food came out quickly. We got the calamari appetizer. This was good. The shrimp in the mix were really good. This cute little Italian restaurant in the gaslamp has great food and service. The table area is a touch small but it's cozy. The pasta dishes were made very well and delicious. The meatballs in my dish were spongy processed meat I could've bought frozen at Trader Joe's. I expected more for a $25 plate. The service was not friendly, the one guy working the bar and the dining room was impatient. I requested half a mista salad which they obliged but still charged me full price. Our friends got married on the 16th and then had their reception dinner here. WOW what an experience. I am Italian and I can tell you this is very close to home cooking. If you're looking for a simple, nothing too fancy place for Italian, this is it. We made a rez for 5:45, and it was just us. It filled up about an hour later, but still quiet enough to be comfortable. We started with the prosciutto di parma app with buffalo mozzarella, just as expected. We ordered the lobster ravioli, which was very flavorful and full of juicy lobster, and the fettuccine Alfredo, which was made with tagliatelle, a thicker noodle. We came here for a pre-graduation dinner for our niece. I personally enjoyed the atmosphere--it was pleasant and welcoming. The service was great: attentive, professional, and friendly. The food, however, was just okay, and the portions felt quite small for the price. One thing to note is that a 23% service charge is automatically added to the bill. We've dined at many Michelin-rated restaurants, and the highest automatic service charge we've encountered has been 20%, which we consider reasonable. Typically, if we're happy with the food and service, we're more than happy to tip extra ourselves. So we were a bit surprised to see the 23% added without any prior mention. The mushroom ravioli was average. I felt it could have used more garlic but it wasn't bad over all. The marinara sauce on the chicken parmigiana and rigatoni was delicious. It had a nice bright flavor to it! Not too acidic and not too sweet. The breading on the chicken despite tasting good, was a bit tough though and made it hard to cut through. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly but the bowl had way more sauce than pasta- we wished it had a bit more rigatoni in it. Other than that this place is conveniently located in the heart of gaslamp and is easily walkable from lots of the hotels. During a trade show event, my team and I visited Roma Mia for a much needed rest and dinner. The food was excellent but I wanted to start off with some other feedback. We made reservations for a specific table and were directed to go upstairs...but another group was already sitting there. I don't remember us getting an apology. We ended up having to go to a seat closer to the front window. The gentleman who took our order was very nice. We placed our orders and started off with some appetizers, like the fried squid you see in my pictures. But as dirty dishes piled up, he'd stop by our table, refill our waters, but then not take our dishes unless we flagged it down. This is why I took off a star. But the food was spectacular. My lobster ravioli was divine, served hot, and oh so rich. For dessert, I think I got the vanilla gelato which was also delicious. The bread that came before the meal was so crusty it seemed like they toasted it because maybe it was going stale? Strange. The topper was the AC is currently out of commission. We parked in horton plaza and unfortunately did not know it was expensive. I think we got the wrong ticket or something. Anyway, the restaurant itself is nice and quaint. It is a little tight in there. Tables are very close to each other and not a lot of room to move around. We ordered Calamari, Pollo Al Marsala and Linguine Ai Frutti Di Mare. Dishes were okay and on the lighter side. The chicken was stringy but was still good and the marsala sauce was very savory. I probably would try this place again and try a different dish. read more

This restaurant serves really good food but was let down by really bad service. We had an early booking (5 pm) as we were going to a show immediately afterwards, so it was certainly not too busy. They did not serve us bread with olive oil and balsamic, as is almost universal in San Diego Italian restaurants. Several other tables around us were all served bread, so it was clearly an omission. When I asked for some, they gave us the bread but no oil/balsamic. When ordering, I asked for information about a particular wine to which the waiter advised me it was "white." It took some prodding to get him to say it was also dry. The wine was delicious but, come on, a waiter in a Gaslamp restaurant should be able to talk a bit more authoritatively than just knowing its color. For our starter, my wife and I shared Antipasto Italiano and it was excellent. For the entrees, my wife had the Ravioli Ricotta e Spianci and I had the Zuppa di Pesce. Once again, the food was excellent, but they did not give me a spoon for my broth. I called over a man who appeared to be the head waiter requesting a spoon. He fetched it immediately and my wife could hear him in the back area telling my server that you always provide a spoon with soup. Throughout our main courses, they did not remove our starter plates on an already cluttered table. We shared desert (Torta Ricorra e Cioccolata) and I had an espresso, which was barely filled to 30% of the cup. Just based on the service alone, I do not see myself eating there again anytime soon. read more

We came here on a Wednesday night so there were plenty of seats but we made a reservation just in case. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, and two cocktails. I thoroughly enjoyed all the food, as I felt like all the flavors were light but still brought out all the best flavors of the dish. The seafood tasted fresh and the sauce wasn't too heavy and overpowering. The calamari was so good! The hot marinara sauce that came out with it was also really delicious. The cocktails were pretty good too but nothing crazy special. I think they had just the right amount of alcohol to where I could taste it but it wasn't all I could taste. I would recommend the espresso martini! We spent about $60/person which I think is fair considering the location and quality of the food. This place's decor was a bit confusing (no clear theme) and the restaurant was pretty dark but I think this could still be a cute date night spot! read more
