We met Friends for dinner on Thursday evening and enjoyed the service and meal... the portions are great and everyone commented on the flavor of thier dish.. I was looking to avoid pasta so I had the Pollo Valtellinese whish was fantastic. My fiancé had the Farfalle Con Pollo and she loved it. Our friends both had the Penne Bolognese and it looked rich and meaty. The server, after your entrées are delivered, comes out with a large bowl of grated Parmesan cheese and offers a heaping spoonful for your dish. I ordered the Specialities Branzino, and the spinach and mashed potatoes were well flavored, but the branzino (sea bass) was so overcooked and flavorless that I ended up basically only eating the sides. Another con of this place was only have 2 single person bathrooms (1 for men, 1 for women). And there was always a line for bathrooms. (They warned us about the backup 45-min wait for food being sent to tables after ordering, but given the crowdedness of the Labor Day holiday, it's understandable). Was able to find parking nearby on a Friday afternoon so we thought we might as well walk around and find something to eat in little Italy. We were very intrigued by their menu so we decided on trying it out. We were served the house bread with their marinara for free. We ordered their fried calamari with zucchini, the seafood pasta with a white wine sauce, and their sea bass with saffron fregola. Everything was really tasty. The calamari had great flavor and was very crispy. The seafood pasta was packed with scallops, shrimp, mussels, and clams. The white wine sauce was delicious but didn't really stick to the pasta. This cute little Italian spot in Little Italy was just what we needed to satisfy our ravioli cravings. We hadn't tried this restaurant before, so we decided to give it a shot. Marcelo was our waiter, and he was fantastic--very friendly and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. My fiancé ordered the cheese and spinach ravioli, and I had the ravioli di zucca (butternut squash in sage butter). Both dishes were good, though not the best ravioli we've ever had. The portions here are huge! Went here on a Saturday night during comic con and was amazed as how big my chicken parm was. It could of easily fed two people. The sauce that they use is soo good. We were walking around downtown little Italy looking for a place to eat and we are so glad we found this place. Kids ordered spaghetti and they loved it as well. There is only one restroom here so waiting for it afterwards was a bummer but I didn't experience that part. Torn between a 3 and a 4 here. The place was crowded, super noisy and the service was not great. My chicken milanese was incredibly boring. On the other hand hubby's octopus salad and pasta were divine. May be best to go midweek when they are less crowded. There are too many better places in Little Italy. read more

My wife always orders the Baked Goat Cheese (pesto, roasted garlic, caramelized onions, toasted artisan bread). She likes the way it was served before to her (on a big heavy platter, baked hot with a loaf of warm bread - this time, it was served cold with only 4 pieces of cold bread), but still liked it and will always order it. Lots of flavor. Gnocchi Alla Norma was really good and I'd get it again for sure. My wife ordered the Ravioli Al Formaggio E Spinaci and we both liked it a lot. Would get that again too. The tiramisu is wonderful. We ordered espresso at the end of the meal and I guess they were out of cream and one of the staff walked down the block to get some for our order. We waited for a while and asked help to order. They only have wines and the one I wanted wasn't available. Then the bartender recommended a really bad wine and I didn't want it. As I was visiting Little Italy in San Diego, I was so overwhelmed with where to have dinner. There were SO many great restaurants and couldn't pick one. That is until I was greeted by Guiseppe, who made my choice at eating here much easier. I was really craving Fried Calamari, but it was 86'd for the night . He suggested the rice balls, which were decent. Felt the filling could have had more beef and cheese. For dinner I wanted something on the lighter side. So I settled on the grilled pulpo. Absolutely atrocious management. A server was speaking to the table behind us in such a disrespectful way I went inside to ask for someone in charge. She came out and said what, which she seemed strange. I asked her to follow me outside. She did so and before we got to the table i turned to explain to her the situation and how three other tables had all noticed his behavior and dishonor toward the customers. She blatantly told me that customer was wrong and the food was good. I proceeded to tell her it seemed the disrespect trickled down from the top and she told our section our orders were all cancelled. Two tables turned confused. The whole situation was really embarrassing for her. We spent $200 on chocolates from a street vendor child that I asked to find us a server and then leave. She found us a server before anyone actually came over. When i brought that up she told me that's not my problem and i should report them to San Diego police, because that's not her job, it's mine...? This place is trash. What a turn for the worst, so sad to see how far they truly have fallen. We left after an hour of waiting and then being yelled at for trying to help another customer. Thanks to an airline missed connection I got an extra night in San Diego. I knew right away I had to take advantage and visit Little Italy. Of course I relied on my fellow Yelpers to help with so many choices to pick from. Sogno had such great reviews and honestly I also liked that their prices were more reasonable than so many others. The bar was wide open so glad I grabbed a seat and my journey was on. Great bartender and service was right on point all night. Started with their complimentary bread and amazing glass of Merlot. So many choices i was having difficulty making a decision. I wanted something slightly lighter and the bartender once again was helpful. He recommended the Orecchiette alla Barese. A lighter white wine sauce with shell type pasta and Italian sausage. He nailed it! When that came out I was blow away. Even more so after the first bite. Great flavors, huge chunks of Italian sausage and that sauce was simply amazing. I was so stuffed I had to take my Tiramisu back to the hotel. Later that night I enjoyed a great dessert. We were seated right away & served really good bread with even better marinara, a hint of spiciness. Was hard not to fill up on just that. I had the ravioli with a pink tomato sauce, absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the Linguine Boscomara, a seafood dish with a pink Brandy sauce. It was also delicious! I enjoyed a lite lunch here a few weeks back and it was delightful!! My server Lucas helped me decide between a couple of the appetizers and the wine. I tried the Hamachi Crudo and had yellowtail for the first time. The presentation was beautiful and the Vermentino wine went with it very well. The sidewalk table was great for people watching as well as the cars trying to speed down the street in lots of traffic.
