My friend and I have been frequently an Indian buffet at Roma Palace that I want to tell you about. It's tucked away inside the grocery store, in the back-left corner. We've found the food to be consistently delicious. Having tried Indian cuisine extensively on the East Coast (NYC and Northern/Central Jersey), the West Coast (Silicon Valley), and Northern Texas, and I can confidently rate this place highly for its food and taste. The chicken biryani is particularly outstanding, with incredibly moist chicken, and the chicken curry is excellent. The okra is perfect cooked, never overdone, and the naan bread is consistently moist, not dry. Beyond the food, the staff are very nice, which adds to the experience. The food is Halal, and the price is very reasonable, making it a great value. We're always satisfied with our meal here, and that's why we keep coming back. I used to come here when it was in the banquet hall next door but it has now moved inside the Subzi Mandi grocery store (back left). It's slightly cheaper than it used to be ($7 now), but with the change has come cheap styrofoam trays, cups, and plasticware. You have to get your own water and dispose of your used trays. I would say the size of the buffet has decreased by 30% as well, but most the staple items remain and the food tastes about the same. It's not best Indian food out there but it's still way better than my company's cafeteria. I will say the kheer (rice pudding) here is the best I've had at *any* Indian restaurant - very milky with the perfect low level of sweetness and refreshingly cold. Despite the downgraded experience and food variety, I'm still keeping this place in my rotation for a cheap workday lunch. Cons: The parking lot is constantly littered with stray shopping carts. Ever since the move into the Subzi Mandi grocery store - the whole experience has declined. Styrofoam trays, cups and plasticware have replaced actual plates, stemware and real forks. The variety of options is substantially less. I question the cleanliness of the place. Just today I saw employees mixing food in a tub on the floor. The Chicken Kadhai was good, the chicken Biryani was amazing (moist and perfectly spiced with fall off the bone chicken), but the Chicken tikka was so so and the Paneer Mutter was just blah - very watery. Sheba from Roma Palace was a delight to work with! We had an intimate ceremony and everything went smoothly. Sheba kept us well informed and was well organized. We had used the banquet hall and it was fully decorated and clean! Our menu consisted of appetizers, main course and dessert and all of it was delicious! All state regulations/guidelines were followed and everything was clean. We will definitely recommend this place with Sheba's customer service and use it again ourselves! The name might confuse someone. Because it sounds like an Italian place. But it's actually an Indian buffet. Great for lunch because it's only $9. Any day not just certain days.. I came on a Saturday lunch and ate a lot. My favorite would be the chicken tikka masala and the butter naan. They have other great choices like veggie stuff and fried stuff. For dessert mango pudding is a nice way to cleanse the strong flavors of Indian food. If you want some breath mints take a scoop of the fennel and anise seeds. It's located next to the bar. Rip off ! we went up to the manager and told him that one of the dishes is stale/spoilt he said he cannot do anything but charged for it, The other dish was cold at the bottom and hot at the top , with some cilantro's thrown in,, all in all the place and food are disgusting! 3 of 6 of us had a stomach upset , don't even take a chance stepping this place. read more

This is a decent place for a quick fix of Indian food. You will find most of the typical dishes on any Indian buffet which includes spinach, tandoori chicken, lentil soup, tikka masala, curry potatoes and peas, naan, etc. The past few times I have visited, the food just wasn't that good and I'm always disappointed that they do not put paneer (cheese) in the spinach. The chicken tikka masala is usually good and the chicken is tender but everything else just doesn't taste fresh. It gets about a C+ for a below average buffet. If you want some of the best Indian food in the area, Mumtaz is still my favorite. Their food is a little expensive, but it's exceptional and always fresh. read more

The lunch buffet is not amazing but it is a great value at 5 bucks. The place is decorated very fancy, with cloth napkins and wine glasses type of table settings. The drink service is so good it's almost annoying. Now, where do the 5 stars come in? DINNER! This place has an amazing full menu. The lobster goa is ridiculously rich and sweet and includes an entire lobster tail. The lamb vindaloo is also superb. It is usually rather empty at night and you will be served by the owner himself. One of the better Indian Buffets in Richardson area. They recently increased their price from 5.99 to 6.99. The buffet has a good selection of both veg and non-veg items and everything was tasty. Their style of cooking is very mughlai (North-West Frontier).. so more closer to pakistani food. Lunch buffet: Food wise this place is inconsistent. My first visit they took me by surprise for the most quality / price ratio, but disappointed me on my second visit... The chicken Seekh was good, and the chicken tandoori was nicely done too, not too much color (unlike most indian places). Goat curry was excellent the first time and below average the second time. But I am willing to give this place another shot as its just $5.99 for lunch. Samosa were great but pakoda - avoidable... I really liked the rice pudding for dessert, totally indian taste in there. I heard about this place through word of mouth since Roma Palace doesn't advertise like the 20 other Indian restaurants in the vicinity. If they did they'd probably have more success. Popped in for the lunch buffet on Sunday and gave it a shot. We were actually the first ones there so it was nice having some privacy. Got right down to business and hit the buffet line to sample each product before I came back for seconds. Each item was delicious and a few are especially worth noting. The samosas and tomato soup definitely stood out! Even though they're appetizers you'll be tempted to treat them like the main course because it's just that good! The chicken tikka, tandoori chicken and kebabs are also worth mentioning because Roma Palace does it better than the competition! I give the food a 10/10 with absolutely zero complaints. It use to be a great place for the lunch buffet. Nice tables and booths with good china, stemmed water glasses and cloth napkins. Now its in the grocery store next door like the cheapest cafeteria you could think of. Styrofoam plate and plastic everything. The variety of the buffet is about half of what it use to be and you have to think with such cut backs the quality of the food may also have suffered. Meanwhile the restaurant is empty? Indian restaurants in Dallas suck. Based off of this truth, this place isn't bad. It's attached to a Halal meat market on one side and a grocery store on the other side. The buffet is the cheapest in town at $5.99. Nothing too imaginative; the usual suspects, chicken tikka masala, dal makhini, aloo gobi, inhabit the warming table. Omg, worst Indian restaurant ever! Service = non existent.. you have to ask for ice in your ice water, or iced tea... and will get you the rudest look by their staff. This restaurant has now moved into the back left area of the grocery store next door, Subzi Mandi. They used to have a sort of an upscale vibe with tablecloths and nice glassware and china. They have gone to foam plates and cups, and plastic utensils in the new digs. That's OK though. The food is still excellent! No need for the fancy! Was gifted with a beautiful night at Roma Palace for my birthday. Reserved the entire restaurant and it was perfection. The food was amazing, a beautiful buffet set up for our guests to enjoy. The staff was friendly and super efficient. They kept everything running smooth, the buffet was perfectly maintained and they even graciously waited for our chatty butts to vacate when we should have long scooted and let them close down. Arrived at Roma Palace for their dinner menu. It was a very nice place with a good atmosphere and great food. I ordered the chicken tikki masala and I was definitely not disappointed. Tried this gem of a place last night for dinner. Yummy! We had the madras soup (best I've ever had), the veggie pakora, and lamb korma. They were all awesome! Very flavorful dishes and they were all served in a timely manner. We weren't rushed to finish one course because another course was being served too soon, unlike some restaurants. I like this lunch buffet. The tomato soup is delicious. Chicken biriyani is good also. If you can get them to bring out fresh naan it's even better. I am usually trying to reduce my weight so I never get to eat a whole lot of any one dish but the little bits I tried are good. It is inexpensive enough to go there and have a snack though. Went at 5:30 pm, after they had just opened for dinner service. I was the only person in the restaurant during my meal. Had the Paneer Kadhai and Sag paneer, both ordered medium. Food was good and flavorful, naan warm and soft. They didn't offer extra rice for my leftovers and it was pricey (18$). Haven't tried the buffet, which is cheaper. read more

I've been here about 6 times now. This time, all the entrees weren't super spicy like before which is good. The price is $7 plus tax which is a great value. There are many selections, vegetarian and variety of chicken flavors. The mango pudding is excellent. Its good to come after 11:30am, all the dishes will be ready for you. My church went to go and eat there, they told us that we were filling the restaurant and clearly wanted us to leave. They were rude. They have bad customer service.
