Spice 'N' Rice is our go to place for Bangladeshi food. Their food usually does not disappoint and they have daily and weekly specials that you will not find in other Bangladeshi restaurants. Their service has improved over the years, relatively clean, and the food usually tastes amazing (although some dishes in recent times has not been the best, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5) This time around we had the Duck Curry and it did not disappoint. I found this place randomly and have enjoyed it every time. The food is a 10/10. My favorites are the vegetable samosas and beef biryani. I live 25 minutes away and drive there all the time just to eat despite having other Indian restaurants that are closer. read more

Good place for authentic Bangladeshi foods. Everything we tried was really good both in flavors and portions. They asked us for spice level and we asked to make it as they would back home and they clearly did! Everything was really spicy! So I would advise to ask for less spicy if too much heat is a concern. We had the pomfret curry. The fish was fried and then made in curry. The recipe was tasty with the right combination of spices and tomatoes. The fish wasn't smelly and I liked that it wasn't too oily of a dish. It came with white rice and a small portion of daal (lentil soup). The daal was very good and a bit spicy. We also ordered beef curry. The meat was well cooked and the right amount of tenderness. The gravy was thick and is not runny which I liked as I was actually wanted beef rezala but it wasn't on the menu. This was a good replacement and was very tasty. This came with polao rice which was also good. The other dish we ordered was the goat kacchi biryani. While it wasn't the "biye barir kacchi" recipe I was craving, it was still very tasty. I liked that it was authenticly Bangladeshi in its seasoning and preparation. We also ordered nuggets and fries for the kiddo. It was bland and basic for the kids. Food has to be ordered at the counter. There was only one guy working while we were there. He took our order and was very friendly and personable. It's so rare to get decent service at these places so this was a pleasant surprise. However, I don't doubt any reviews that complain of bad service. Your results may vary! I would definitely come back to try some other items, especially since the only other restaurant serving Bangladeshi foods nearby seems to not care about running a business anymore. read more

Bangladesh cuisine is the best out of all south Asian cuisine and this restaurant takes it to a new level. So many menu choices and specials! My favorite is kacchi biriyani-- can online in Bangladeshi restaurants as it is only Bangladeshi recipe-- kichuri, hilsha polao, morg polao and many more. read more

SnR has a buffet on Friday and Saturday which this review is for. It's a no-frills place where you get your own silverware and drinks but that's fine by me. They had a wide variety of meal dishes on the buffet including 5 chicken, 1 beef, 1 goat, and even 1 fish. Surprisingly, there was no saag paneer and no dessert dishes on the buffet. I tried everything on the buffet except the fish. Pros: Biriyani had a moderate level of spiciness which was appealing. Goat curry! I get excited anytime a place has it on the buffet. The chicken samosa was delicately crisp and the filling was flavorful - best I've had. Cons: No saag paneer. Butter chicken sauce was overly sweet. Naan was bland (hard to explain but it reminded me of a water cracker), but I think that's the Bangladeshi-style. No dessert items on the buffet. Overall, I thought the buffet was good but the cons I noted were a big deal for me so 3.5-stars! Definitely worth trying if you are looking for another Indian place to check out. read more

If you select Lassi drink, and you have it with salt, ask for light salt, I may have emphasized how much how much salt and so Cathryn got a lot of salt in hers too, too much so she got a sweet Lassi it was good tasting as well! It is really nice to see another place that serves Bangladeshi food. I wish they treated it so. They call it an Indian restaurant, but it isn't and I wish the ambiance was catered to the culture. The place can use a little update, but overall it was nice and clean. It was one lady taking orders and serving the food. She was very pleasant and helpful. The food was served fairly quickly and some were hit or miss. The appetizers were all really good like the pakoras, alur chop and shingaras. The haleem went bad and we told them about it so it was not edible. The tehari was good, but we aren't used to basmati rice for it we are used to the small grain rice like kali jeera. The saving grace was the beef mezbani. The mezbani was really good and that is pretty much what I ate with naan. Didn't have a great experience myself, but I have heard of others that have and maybe we can give it another shot some other day. read more

Came in with a friend for a late lunch last week. We got the chicken biriyani and the chicken was very tender and flavorful. We got the daal chaat which was very good, and the butter chicken which the sauce was really tasty, but the meat was so dry and tough we could barely eat it. The chai was disappointing and not drinkable a it tasted like they scalded and burned the milk. It was an ok meal, but with some many other places in the area I don't think I would ever come back. read more

Authentic Bangadeshi home cooked food, Chicken Roast,Beef Tahari, Chicken Biriyani, Potato Cutlet, Hisham fish,Vorta is our favorites from the menu. My friend and I were really craving Indian food and had heard good things about this place. It's right next to the Richardson Chinatown, and there's plenty of parking available. When you walk in, you order at the front and then seat yourself. My friend and I decided to share butter chicken and beef curry, and we ordered one entree with rice and the other with naan. I asked them to make the dishes as mild as possible, and the cashier just kind of chuckled. It's totally my fault for being weak though! The food smelled amazing. The butter chicken was creamy and had a little sweetness to it. It paired really well with both the rice (which was more like fried rice with garlic and spices in it) and the naan. The beef curry was also delicious. Both dishes were spicy but worth the pain. I will definitely be back! read more

I placed an order online using Menufy. When I arrived at the pickup time, the cashier sheepishly informed me that the order wasn't ready because they "hadn't seen the email" from Menufy. Simple error, no problem. I was then told the order would be ready in 10 minutes. Okay, sure. However, I didn't actually receive it until over 20 minutes later, in part because the kitchen missed seeing the brand new non-Menufy order. The cashier was apologetic, but she gave an inaccurate time estimate, as well as several unprompted "two more minutes" so that the restaurant wouldn't lose the $45 order. Meanwhile, the cooks are visible wandering around in the back and periodically peering through the order window to see if I was still waiting around for the order. I wish I had walked out- the food was not good at all. I usually give a place two chances, but not this place- recommend avoiding. read more

My favorite things to order here are the samosas, chicken boti wrap, daal (lentil soup) and the naan. Tonight, I was out shopping and needed a quick bite in compliance with my whole30 diet. Since it's only day two of my diet, I didn't want to cheat so I was very cautious with my order! I got the chicken boti wrap and asked for everything separately. The owner was hesitant to serve it like that but he later understood why lol. My chicken was grilled and seasoned to perfection(no sauces or non compliant Whole30 ingredients). Let's just say I ate the chicken pretty fast and liked the cucumbers on the side. The owner was nice to offer other food like their delicious dessert called shimai (vermicelli cooked in milk). It was hard saying no to it but I'll be coming back after the 30 days are over. They serve buffet on Friday and Saturday with a wide variety of options (14-15 options). Dined at Spice 'n' Rice with a coworker who goes to lunch their every single weekday! He's Bangladesh and says the chefs (owner) style of cooking is more Bangladeshi influenced than other places. This is not a fancy place by any means. Sun-Thurs you can order off the menu. Friday & Saturday they put out a buffet because they don't have the staff to handle extra big rushes. FINE BY ME! I get to try it all. Today I think I ate a little of everything they had out and everything was delicious! Enough spice to make you want a nice glass of cold water but not to send your taste buds screaming away. Excellent flavor and all the protein was very tender. Just moving from CA to Texas, I was really hopeful that this would address my Indian cravings. The order was to-go. I went in ordered and waited for my food. The restaurant itself seemed pretty authentic amidst all the "china town" shops and restaurants. What I ordered and review of each- - Saag Paneer - WAY TOO SALTY!!! and Spinach did not seem fresh. - Butter chicken - This one was WEIRD. It was like they chopped up some leftover tandoori chicken and mixed it in with the sauce. It was overwhelmingly sweet and did not taste like Chicken Makhani at all. - Chicken Korma - This was the better of all the dishes. Still a bit too salty. - Garlic Naan - This was TERRIBLE. Was in the mood for some home cooking without having to actually cook. Picked up food and brought it home to eat with the family. Their shrimp biriyani is nice and spicy. We absolutely loved the shutki bhorta and daal. The tandoori chicken is your typical tandoori chicken. The beef curry had good flavor but the pieces were tough to eat and not tender. I love ilich maach but something was off with the texture of the fish - really tough and hard. I hear the buffet is decent so might check it out on of these days. read more
