Here is the long time local favorite for pizza in Winthrop Harbor. It only has delivery and pick up, and you would figure that out upon seeing the cramped interior. Roma is about what to expect from a small town pizza place like this. Menu has the main item plus some sides that are basic. The prices are higher than the chains, but the pizzas are better usually. Called and got a pick up order one evening. It's not open for lunch. The hours aren't always right. It's about $14 for a small specialty one. The Vegetable Pizza is exactly as it sounds. This has black olives, broccoli, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. Pretty good variety to be honest. This was cooked pretty good, and not burnt at all incredibly. Good job on it cooking and being hot. The price was just kind of high for one pizza. Good as it gets for pizza around here. It also has a few other items. Roma Pizza & Pasta is a truly special place for my family and I. I love it! There are new owners; the new manager, Gonzo, is very friendly, approachable, and quick to recommend new menu items (try the cream of chicken with rice soup: it's delicious). Pricing is a bit higher than other places, but the flavour is incomparable. Roma has a Monday night special that I feel is very good value for the money. The staff are always friendly and always take the time to thank me for my order; if Gonzo is working, he always comes to the counter and says hello. The pizza is delicious: hot, tasty, and always ready on time. I usually order pickup and it's piping hot. I've never had a complaint about the food or the service; this is a take-out place only (no dining in) but there are 1 or 2 tables if you are waiting for your order. I haven't tried the side dishes very much (I usually order just pizza) so I can't comment on those. Roma is definitely one of the best places to go! read more

The Roma's Delight pizza used to be wonderful. The bruschetta topping is no longer flavorful as I believe the garlic content has been seriously reduced. The amount of topping is disappointing and the cheese was very greasy. Even the thin crust is too doughy and you feel like your eating a Little Caesar's with flavorless cheese and toppings. Very, very disappointed that this once incredible pizza is no longer recognizable. Giving 2 starts instead of 1 because I've been a huge fan of this business for many, many years and am just hugely disappointed. They are just SO busy and are pumping out so many pizzas every night that maybe they couldn't keep the quality up where it used to be. read more

This pizza place is very gross lol We bought a XL pizza 16pc wing 1 bread stick Total was $47 The pizza was small for an extra large, my husband was like wtf is this lol Wings tasted like they were from the Walmart freezer section, just awful and chewy The bread sticks were the real kicker though, $6.32 for 4 that literally were hard & cheap and the nerve to charge someone damn near $7 for garlic bread sticks to have the garlic part on the side which was in cup that's pre packaged at some factory is wild. This place is an overpriced little Caesars and taste just is bad if not worse. When I asked the cashier who was sweet, young and just be talking if the food was good obviously she said yes. I mean fine but when I asked her if she put ranch in my order she hesitated said yes and then confirmed her yes. When I got home no ranch was found lol Safe to say I won't be going back here. When I moved home to help ailing parents (I was living in a big city -- the biggest in the country), I said, "Do not sign me up to come to a place where there is no edible pizza anymore -- I'm just gonna have to say no." I will say my brother is one of the most creative pizza orderers, and that helps, but Roma carries a lot of the ingredients that smaller pizza restaurants stop keeping on the premises years ago... and Roma keeps them fresh.
