Haven't been to Droopy's in a little bit. Seems they have new management and many new items on the menu. We tried the steak nachos grandes with fries instead of chips. It was decent. I think it would have been better with well cooked (crunchier) fries. Also enjoyed a pizza puff. read more

I've always loved Droopys. If you want diner style Mexican and hot dogs! The patty melt is to die for. Their French fries are super battered and crispy and don't forget the verde with your tacos!! The carne asada is never dry! The people are nice and the food is greasy and tasty!! Never had a bad experience. read more

New Kids on the Block had a lot of hits, Chinese food makes me sick, and I love when the fly girls stop by for the summer. *That's the song that kept playing in my head when we walked into this establishment.* This little restaurant has a very classic old school menu of hot dogs and hamburgers, and a very nostalgic feel of old Small town America in the late 90s or early 2000s. We had the Chicago dogs and Al Pastor tacos. The Chicago dogs were the best I've ever had, much better than Portillo's and for a fraction of the cost and wait time. The Al Pastor tacos were decent. We finished off with a scoop of ice cream which was still priced as it would've been in the 90s. read more

Droopys has the best food around. Which isn't saying that droopy's is necessarily a five-star, The best food I've ever eaten. it's the best in Winthrop harbor though no doubt. Some of the worst foods I've ever had. Went to customize my plate and got individually charged for each item instead. Including the ones I didn't want. Got charged extra for asking for dips on the side. When my nachos came with just a smear of cheese. I asked for a little more. They charged me 2.00 for a small cup of cheese. This place fails on all levels. Constantly mess up take out orders. Staff really doesn't seem to care either. The worst is my co-worker liked their wings. Until they started coming with quills and pin feathers on them. By the 3rd time we were done with them. Shows they also source out cheap product!! Just gross. Who wants FEATHERS on their chicken wings?? Plus they screw you on the deliveries too. Once you complain you become to far to deliver too. What business doesn't want $50 plus lunch orders? Recently moved to the area. What is better than a greasy cheeseburger after a rough night?!?!?!! So I stopped here thinking this may be the place. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I had a cheeseburger and fries. While the prices was not bad, they were just OK. Fries... They were undercooked (still cold/hard in the center) and way too much salt. Had the fries been cooked right and less salty, they would be great because I love steak fries. A side of Merkts cheese would be even better but they did not offer it. When I asked the cashier if they had Merkts or melted cheddar, she looked at me like I was an alien. Cheeseburger... it was pretty small (comparable to McDonalds!) Not sure what, maybe some more spices, maybe they were frozen instead of fresh, I am not sure what it was, it just didn't have much flavor to it, it needs something! Tried this for ice cream yesterday. Horid! I threw it away. Ever open something and put it in the freezer and when you go to use it , freezer burn? That was the flavor. Plus the cones are so small they can't handle one scoop. Food is OK (2 stars) but avoid the ice cream read more

I went there for the first time for Gyros and was very disappointed. The meat was skimpy and the pita fell apart. The Tzatzizki sauce was bland, tasted just like yogurt, no flavor at all. Placed a delivery order and it was not the first time delivering to the requested location. "Delivery to Beach Park" printed clearly on menu. Owner or manager calls back and very rudely tells me last time they'll come here as we're "too far". Delivery driver says yes they deliver here she's not sure why he said that. This place used to be great - not so much anymore. The last two gyros I got were so skimpy it was almost comical - imagine a hot dog wrapped in a pita, that's how little meat they put in it. My wife and I used to split one gyro from Droopy's, and now one is not even enough for me. No drop in prices, of course! I think the food is ok. The burgers are great! The people who work there bring the business down significantly! I know from experience it is hard to find good workers but the ones they have now really don't care about the food they make or the customer service they provide. Just keep driving by this one. - As you walk in it appears to be clean with the normal Young person behind the counter. I ordered and I could hear them joking about - Focus People- Less Jokes and more detail to the Food Please- The home style fries were twice even three times baked with too much oil, a dark brown color - My Meal was bland-o-la - Everything was there but no flavor. I'm not from the area, so when I came to this place I wasn't so sure what I would be getting. The first few times I came in, the food was good. Nothing spectacular, but good. Then remember calling a few times in the evening to order food, and was told they were closed, two hours before they advertise. Also recall the last time I went there, the employees sitting outside with friends smoking. Took a few minutes before they came in, and then said they were closing early. I had stopped going to Droopys several years ago due to substandard food and service, about a month ago a friend said I should try it again. I stopped that night and got a gyro wrap for wife and combo plat of gyro, beef, chicken greek style, it was pretty good. So we tried again this past Sunday evening, yuck gyro was chunks not sliced or browned, cold and just terrible, french fries cold and limp even after I asked for extra crispy. The counter person was indifferent, the cook obviously did not care what kind of food he was serving. Avoid this place at all cost. read more

I'm revising my former 4 star review after several recent disappointing visits. Unfortunately this place just seems to be on a slow slide downward. Their burgers used to be awesome, but the last 2 I've gotten were clearly burnt around the edges, overdone and didn't taste great. If I was an owner I wouldn't have served them. Several phone orders were taken by a clueless employee who messed up everything. They used to have the best, friendly, very hustle to business girl working at lunch. I wish she was back, new staff leaves much to be desired. Since this place opened, we go there for lunch 2-3 times a week. The place has awesome food. The customer service is great...always greet you with smiles and always courteous. I have probably tried everything on their menu and have yet to come across something that wasn't good. Their fries are delicious. The chicken on a pita with teriyaki is great. I went yesterday ordered a gyro platter with a drink online it stated the drink was included. When paying the girl helping me then charged me extra for the drink, so I pulled my phone out and showed her the website and how it clearly stated gyro platter with drink included. Poor front counter service. Paid for the beef and Italian combo, verified it with the order taker who confirmed my request. When I got home, only a dipped beef. Doesn't sound very catastrophic, but the point is that the girl taking the order failed to do what she was supposed to do. I've called 2 times, but nobody is answering the phone.
