I love Michael Garcia's salon! Hands down the best salon I have been to in Columbus. I have been getting my hair cut done by Madrid for a few years now. The end results always come out exactly as I hoped for. I recently got Halo hair extensions in by Leslie and absolutely love them! They look so good and everyone thinks it is my real hair. Leslie took the time to make sure the color and style matched my natural hair perfectly. I have yet to try out any of their spa services but have only heard positive comments. I also recently had my hair died with bobby- he does a great job with color and cut and has a great personality that made the time fly in the chair! I think this last time was the 3rd or 4th time I saw Abigail. The first couple of times were for blowouts. This latest appointment was for a cut/color. I missed my appointment by an hour, but she still accommodated me. So points for that, I made sure I tipped Abigail well for this alone. I don't think I've ever been anywhere else where I am late for an hour no matter the reason, and I was still welcomed with no judgment. Abigail did a coloring style, balayage, on me, that is absolutely fabulous. I am still in love with my color. My hair cut, even if it is the same layered trim I've been getting, seems refreshed too - I am not sure what she did, but it is great. Overall, I am considering making Abigail at Michael Garcia my full-time stylist. Bexley is just a bit of a drive for me coming from Hilliard, and I went to her this time because my regular stylist is not available and it was time for my touch-up. However, Abigail did a really fantastic job, and the Michael Garcia staff was amazing. So, I may be seeing them again real soon! read more

Jaye give the best facials in Columbus- hands down! She is the only one I trust with my skin. I have had trouble with breakouts, etc and she has help turned my skin (and eyebrows!) around. This is a tricky review for me. On the one hand I have been seeing Abigail now since I moved to Columbus. She's simply brilliant with my hair. I have been blow drying my hair, exclusively, meaning I don't wash my hair myself, for 8 years now. I know my hair, I know how it dries, I know where it falls, etc. I was a bit nervous at first as I've had quite the nightmare stories, but Abbi was simply on point from day one. If I could somehow split this review, Abbigail certainly gets all 5 starts. She's simply brilliant with her work. Yesterday I had to get my hair done for a meeting and Abbi wasn't available. I took a risk and I absolutely regret it. My hair looked nice when I left the salon. Nothing special, certainly not how Abbigail does it, but nice enough. Of course, the price was double what Abbigail charges me, and the result was half as good. I normally exercise and run around, but I knew I need it my hair as intact as possible for an interview today. My hair, one day later, is a tip. It feels like doll hair -- which has never happened before -- it looks dry, which, my issue, is that my hair is naturally oily, so I'm not entirely sure what went on my hair to make it look like dry doll hair. It looks dead, simply put. In eight years of going to salons, this has hands-down been one of the worst blow-outs I have *ever* had. I called the salon back this morning to see if anyone could fix it. It just so happened that the person who can fix my hair, trained the person who *did* my hair. Meaning, I will not be fixing my hair, and risking more heat applied to it while dry. In other words...make sure you check the stylist's style before making an appointment. It's a lovely salon, everyone is quite pleasant, but don't be fooled by the status each stylist has (junior, senior, etc.,) these do not reflect talent -- otherwise Abbigail would probably be Sifu level. I recommend the salon, it truly is great, just make sure you do your due diligence before letting anyone touch your hair. And, if it isn't obvious enough, I cannot recommend Abbigail enough. The best blow-outs I've had in 8 years have been with that woman! read more

I have gone to see Michael off and on for years. So about 3 month ago I went to see him to make a manger hair cut change, from long to short. It looked great, not worries. Then I went back 6 weeks or so later and we went a be shorter still loved it, and felt like we had found the right cut. I like to keep my hair platinum blonde, and have been driving to a salon quite far away to keep that color. But, I thought I would start having Michael do it. He then said he would try to match my color without using bleach so it would be healthier. He and his son (who is his under study), colored it and said what a great match it was. Then 2 wks or so later I went in for a trim, and his son said,"you really need to get your color touched up", and I said, "You and your dad just did this". He then washed my hair with the dark blue shampoo and let it stay in my hair for a few minutes to try and even out the bad color match they did. Then Micheal, cut my hair and went way shorter without even telling me he was going to. It literally looked like he put a bowl on my head and cut around it. It is a shockingly bad hair cut. I have a cow lick on the nap of my neck which he did not adjust for so it look like a slip of the hand . He was making remarks about having other customers waiting and was obviously stressed out. I was rushed out, then when I got home and really look at my hair I almost cried. You could see the blue cast in my hair. I of course thought it would wash out. It did not. I the had to go and pay at the other salon to correct the color. I normally would not complain, I would just not go back. But you can not tell me that Michael Garcia, did not noticed these things. I called the salon and spoke to a lady, and told her how upset I was. I thought the least he could do was refund the $70.00 for the cut to pay help pay for the color correction, but oh no, she left a message saying ,"A service had been preformed", and Michael refused to refund. I got serviced alright. I guess what bothers me the most is the lack of concern, and customer service, There was not a, we are sorry, come in and let me look at it again...nothing. There are to many salons in this town to get treated this way, I was paying there high prices to avoid situations like this I would suggest you find one of those. read more

My mom went to get a hair cut from Emily, who was trained by Michael Garcia like all other employees. The end result was not great. My mom's hair wasn't cut evenly and the style of the hair was not that great. Emily was rather mean to my mom. My mom wasn't born in America and doesn't know English perfectly or has perfect accent, but she can speak enough to get her point across. Emily was asking my mom questions about why she has an accent if she's been in America for a while now...who asks questions in a professional setting? Basically, I had to call my mom down after her experience at the salon, and she won't be coming back here. read more

Went to the owner himself for a haircut, WORST HAIRCUT I have ever had. I have lived all over the country and have always have good luck in a new city when I book with an owner or the manager of a salon. As I a hairdresser myself (but new to town) I told him exactly what I wanted in hairdresser lingo. He had the gall to rip the haircut I currently had done at Vidal Sassoon and proceded to tell me what was wrong with it. I thought I would give him a chance to do his stuff, but boy was that a mistake. He kept cutting from the back or side of my head or putting my hair in my face, (i suppose so I couIdn't see what he was doing). I have an uneven frizzy mess now and even my husband who usually doesn't notice when I get a haircut said what a hot mess it is. Two weeks later I am now looking for some salon to fix this. I guess I should have been forwarned that there were a lot of old ladies going in to get manicures and the place was dirty. read more
