It's a rainy friday evening. Was walking along Granville trying to find my bus stop. On a friday night the streets were festive, lots of people congregating in front of bars that line the street, people singing at street corners, people eating in patios. I passed by this place with it's bright lights, you can see from the outside they have lots of pizza options, some I've never seen before. I opted for the beef pizza dog. It's about $4 per slice. Not bad. They also serve beer but I just ordered root beer. It was good. It's not gourmet but it was enough to satisfy hunger from a long day of walking. They have a several tables inside. Amazing pizza great people. The Punjabi girl on the front counter was extremely helpful. Not only did she advise us to try the made to share deal where you pick 8 slices of different variety pizza she even helped us with picking them as we are picky eaters. We picked one style of pizza 2 slices we didn't like and she replaced both of them. We didn't even ask her to replace. She asked us if food was good. We told her we didn't like the 2 slices and she replaced them without a frown and a huge smile. Awesome customer service. read more

Staff are super friendly, the slices are cheap, the options varied to suit every state of mind and body. So very cheap pizza, you get what you paid for. I did enjoy my cheese pizza and loved that there was sesame crust on all the pies. However, I didn't really see until I got home that the meat on the pizza was not of good quality and had a funky smell. Ended up taking it all off. The staff are all very nice though. read more

Back to the pizza, All the proteins on the pizza was very good, their normal crust was almost a thin crust and I like how some pie joints are sprinkling sesame at the crust (is this a Indian/Middle Eastern crust style, idk?) The sauces that we ordered on the side elevated the pizza to a whole new level. Please just add on thier House Ranch and Plum Sauce. We ordered several meat pizzas and it was a huge hit. Ordered a $1 pizza off of Ritual here. Yes they are a partner of the Ritual app. I got the chicken pizza with beef, bacon, mushroom, garlic, green pepper, red pepper and ham. I liked the crust / pizza dough which was made out of sesame. The pizza I got was a personal pan pizza - enough to feed two people (6 slices). It also came with 2 sauces. Regular price for the pizza is around $10. The pizza was freshly made on the day and was super tasty. All the toppings were very fresh. The pizza was super filling. Reasonable priced pizza here. Service was good. The place or decor isn't wow here. The pizza place is on the same line as Megabite or Freshslice pizza. I would prefer Romanos over Megabite and Freshslice. Romano's always hit the spot when in a pizza craving (especially when in the Granville entertainment district). This place gets busier later into the night at it caters to the clubbing crowd. This is always my go-to on a regular day because at the rate they sell at, I'm alway guaranteed fresh ingredient! I highly recommend DIY-ing a whole pizza per your desired toppings. I opted for an XL double-Hawaiian (with 2x the standard Hawaiian meats + pineapple) and a LARGE DIY pizza (I chose: Italian sausage, spicy mushrooms, arugula). This is one of those open late on Granville pizza by the slice places. I dont get that but what I do like is there calazones- they are made to order and only 4.95! They are an incredible value! Best bet is to order online ( you can totally customize sauce, fillings ect ) Sometimes The chicken isn't quite as well done as I like, but the Ham & pineapple is awesome ! Also, the last time the crust wasn't quite cooked enough either, but putting it on an oven rack at home and baking it for a bit solves the problem ! Okay, the pizza is even cheaper than eating at a Costco food court, and with at least four times as many options, you really can't go wrong. I've never seen pizza crust with sesame seeds on it before. Is that a Canadian thing, or is it limited to Romano's? I had some pizza from here for dinner because I was staying in a nearby hotel and didn't want to drive anywhere. All of the pizza is out on a display. Customers just stand in line and order pizza by the slice. The workers throw the pizza back into the oven to reheat, and then you get your slices served up on the lowest-quality paper plate you can imagine-- you know, the ones that you have to peel apart from each other that can't even hold their shape. The inside of the restaurant is kind of grungy, pretty reminiscent of a pizzeria in NYC. The slices I ordered were spicy chicken and beef with bleu cheese. Both of them were good. The sauce here isn't really strong, so you could really taste the toppings. I liked the spicy chicken a bit more than the beef. The place has ridiculous hours of operation too. You can get your pizza fix at 3 in the morning. Stop by if you're in the area. Even if you don't end up liking it, you'd only be out a couple dollars anyway. read more

I ordered their 10" small pizza with any 3 toppings (incl. tax $8.40, and comes with 2 dippings). A list of their available toppings are not listed anywhere that I can see so I had to grab one of their take-out pamphlets to see the list. My order was made fresh and was ready in 10 min (exactly how long they said it would take!) - and it was delicious! There are definitely "better" pizzas (for example, a pizza with a more leavened crust for one...), but for this price, quantity and quality I am one satisfied customer and will most definitely be getting pizza here again :D Eat it fresh! Came here for some late night street pizza. Great for satisfying the munchies. Parking here doesn't exist, unless you're talking about bicycles. They've cranked the pricing a bit here compared to the competition ($2.xx per slice), but the quality is decent. Not sure how long their pizzas sit out there, but this place does have a lot of inventory turnover. There are seats available, but the tables are quite dirty. Guess the staff don't really prioritize wiping these things down. I don't blame them. You do get the occasional strange character coming into these places, so if you're skittish, this may not be the place for you. Come for the pizza, not the ambience. read more

We searched for the restaurant, we forgot the name but remembered the location approximately. After walking few streets, we narrowed down the shop as It has moved, not too far. Stopped by for a quick bite as this place was close to my hotel. I love pizza and overall the pizzas are good. There are plenty of options with some unique topping combos as well. I ordered the meat lovers and double Hawaiian. Both were good. Crust was thin and crispy. Meat lovers had plenty of toppings. Hawaiian had plenty of pineapples and 2 large slices of ham. Slices are not cut evenly but fortunate one can choose which slice they want. Service was fast and efficient. I only gave 3 stars due to the way the place lists the pricing. The menu board lists one price and in tiny lettering underneath another price after 7pm for single slices. Still cheap overall though with my 2 slices coming out to $5.00 (after 7pm). read more

I Heart Romano's. Why? 1) They always have an awesome selection of pizzas - and not JUST the classic toppings (e.g. hawaiian, pepp, cheese - although, of course, they DO have these) but some really unique topping combinations as well. The other time I was there I tried this spicy chicken, caramelized onion mushroom and chili pepper one..almost set my mouth on fire but it was DELISHHH!! 2) CHEAP. $1.75 a slice before 8pm - Full stomach + Happy Wallet = YAY! 3) Ranch dressing option! Now I'm guessing other pizza joints probably have this as well...but maybe it's the fact that Romano's decided to label their ranch as "Romano's Ranch" instead of just "Ranch" (borrr-ing) that gives it an extra garlicky punch. Now usually I'm pretty conservative with calories and all, trying to stay away from unnecessary fat-accessorization of pizzas (ie. adding sauces) but when I go to Romano's, the ranch dressing is a MUST. In fact, the only way to do it is to load it plentifully onto your pizza (in swirls) and take a huge, hearty bite. =) Megabite is just a street's cross away and is technically closer to my place but I always end up going to Romano's. In my opinion, it's more authentic than any of the other downtown pizza joints. Trust me, you shan't be disappointed!! so the next time you're standing on the corner of Granville and Smithe debating between Megabite and Romano's, do yourself a favor and go to Romano's. read more

Not so much sun dried tomatoes as they were salty pruned tomatoes. I recognized them from being the ones I unfortunately bought once at Costco. But hell, real sun dried tomatoes are expensive. This is my favourite by-the-slice pizza place. For $5 you could get 2 XL slices and a pop and on busy days the pizza is fresh and delicious. The crust is superb and I've never had anything like it. The roasted sesame seeds on the bottom and along the top add to the overall crisp and fragrance. The toppings are generous and the ranch and hot sauce are good enough to bathe in! The ranch has a sweetness to it and the hot sauce is nice and tangy. My husband's go-to is the ground beef blue cheese and the artichoke hearts. I usually go for the meat and mushroom and sometimes the kale. Today we tried all of the above plus the BBQ chicken. Warning: BBQ sauce packs a nice punch. read more

We ordered one of the specials: two small pizzas (custom or specialty), jalapeño poppers and a 2 liter of pop. My boyfriend's pizza was capicola deluxe and mine was customized with mozzarella, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and pepperoni (you can get up to 5 free toppings.) The pizza was very good. However. . . I have to take off two stars because the dining area was NOT clean. The tables were covered with crumbs and smears. The floor was even worse, like it hasn't been swept or mopped in ages. We got deal 2 which was a 2L of coke, one small pizza, garlic bread, chicken tenders, and 2 dipper sauces ($17.99) The chicken fingers weren't good, bland and burnt on the ends. Save your money. Their crust has sesame seeds, which I enjoyed, boyfriend didn't. I really liked the garlic bread. You get what you pay for but I think they were pretty tasty. I ate them all. I order often so I have received a loyal customer email stating that ordering through the weekend gets me 20% off my order with a promo code but this code DOESNT WORK!! I tried calling to see if it could be applied by the person on the phone but she just brushed me off and didn't tried to help me at all. Stumbled in after being pushed by the throws of people getting in on the Olympic action and was surprised to discover some action of my own. This place rocks. Yes folks it is the sesame crust that makes it! Darn good pizza for 1.50 slice, don't know if that was a special wknd price or not, but cheap none the less. Lots of staff so virtually no wait and lots of selection. Pizza slices are big almost 1.5 slices in width so 1 slice is plenty. Fresh choices included smoked chicken, spinach & feta cheese and tropical hawaaian. MMMmm good. Far better than I expected for downtown Granville that is for sure! Check it out, sauce wasn't sour tasting like a lot of the slice pizza places are so that was a plus. In addition, they have a pizza topping area with ranch dressing, hot sauce and parm cheese you can add to your own slice. Yup, I recommend it! read more

Granville St is not known for having the best pizza joints in town and if you read my review of the close by Megabite it gives reason to shiver... Romano's however really surprised me. Positively! I tried 3 different slices (Cheese, Peperoni, and Veggie) - all of them were served hot, delicious and you can see they use enough cheese and tomato sauce (and none of the cheap, disgusting stuff). Definitely the best pizza place of that sort on Granville & in the surrounding area! For 1.75$ a slice a good price as well plus they have combos to mix. I will be back! read more

I prefer to visit Romano's Pizza because it's a small business surrounded by Fresh Slice and Mega Bite pizzas all up and down Granville Street. The seating area isn't much to look at but they always have good vegetarian options ready. Get this: it's also the cheap. Grab a slice before 8 p.m. and it'll only cost you $1.75. I'm not sure why they increase the price after 8:00, though I expect it's because there's more money to be made off of the drunken bar crowds later at night when they roam Granville for anything to offset their bellies full of alcohol. The spicy mushroom slice is always packed with full mushrooms and really hits the spot. read more

Romano's serves the best pizza slice on Granville st, whatever that slice may be covered in. These potentially include chicken, beef, ham, and a variety of vegetables including pesto, mushrooms, spicy peppers, etc. And a whole bunch of greasy cheese, a must have for any cheap by the slice. Every slice I've eaten here has been fresh, with a metric fuck-tonne of toppings cut so large it's uncertain how they stay on the plate. This translates to a pizza that can hold it's own against grease and garlic ranch sauce alike, although it can leave a mess. Thankfully they have plates. It's garage-sized door stays open in the summer and closes only when it's absolutely freezing outside. Hot days are scorching hot anywhere near the oven, but cold days can be nice. The cheap pizza place even looks like a cheap pizza place. There's run down vinyl seating all over the restaurant, a mirrorless dirty public bathroom with a line on the weekend, stacks of old papers, TV's, and a panoramic view of Vancouver from 30 years ago. You could always take it to the street and have a great "view" of pedestrians and sky scrapers, if you wanted. You can do that with pizza, you know. read more
