This pizza was actually quite terrible. We usually order from our favourite pizza place but they were closed Christmas day, so we thought we'd try this place. To start, there was hair on the pizza....not a topping I ordered. (see pic) Another thing I noticed was that their dough was most likely not fresh and frozen. How could I tell? Well....the dough was incredibly soft. When frozen dough is thawed...the locked moisture from the freezing is released within the dough during cooking and therefore renders it soggy. So....there's that. Also, another decorative piece on the pizza was the leftover charcoal soot from whatever source it fell from onto the pizza (see pic).....not good. Mostly, I think with this place and our experience were issues of hygiene, which it seemed were completely disregarded and ignored. As a VSO subscriber over the years, Pizza Garden has been my cafeteria over the years. Intermission is 20 minutes, if you can time it right. It is doable to duck out for 2 slices and a soda. I've always appreciate their stream line of payment and sauce counter. This location is meticulous with stocking napkins and sanitisers on every other booth. On to the crust, Pizza Garden serves Neapolitan Style Pizzas, and I do appreciate their crust. I would consider their combo a light meal. read more

The reason we went back those other two times was because we were impressed by the food the first time. Unfortunately, that was the only time that we were impressed though. The second time after 20 minutes we went back only to find out that the pizza maker and the cashier gossiping, and our pizza was not even made yet. When finally, she made the pizza and got it out of the oven, she flipped it upside down in the box resulting in a mush instead of pizza. We still went back for the third time. Ok, so unlike us, we ordered delivery from the unknown while spending the Valentines night at our hotel awaiting our Thursday Buildex day. Stopped here for the 1st time and I was impressed. Ordered one slice and it was $3.50 with tax. Very, very good. Awesome crust. They take your slice and put it in the oven to heat up with the pizzas that they're making for everybody else who are taking full ones away. The flavour was fantastic but if you're really, really hungry I wouldn't recommend getting 1 of these. It's all about the flavour not about the mass. I'm sure I'll be back. Firm ordered lots of pizza for everyone. So had the pesto pizza and the Hawaiian pizza. The crust is a bit thin (its so thin, you can fold it up) and well I do like it that way. But again you can taste the burnt taste. Yes as you can see from my pictures my pizza is a bit burnt. Its not just the two slices I got are like that. Its every pizza (we ordered at least 25 large pizza and everyone is like that. Maybe they made it too quick. We got it delivered and its a bit cold. I mean you can heat it up in the microwave and its still fine. The pizza are big and I really mean bigger then its competitor. In terms of toppings, its ok. Not like its really loaded. * NY style slice * This inexpensive little pizza joint right off of the Granville entertainment district was a really pleasant surprise. They are using a Wood Stone open oven, and producing a very VERY respectable NY style slice for a reasonable price ($2.25/slice, or $5.50 for 2 slices and a drink). The key here clearly is getting whatever is coming fresh out of the oven, as the slices sitting in the warming tray did not look anywhere near as good. Luckily the friendly guy behind the counter was just taking out a basic no fancy schmancy toppings pizza from the over so I got to enjoy my favourite - a regular slice. The crust was very good, with just the right chew while still being crispy and light. It folded perfectly. The bottom had a nice leoparding with a slight char. The sauce was rich and flavourful, the cheese just right, and there was a little bit of olive oil on top just like in NY. I would have loved to have a shaker with some oregano, but a guy can dream. The pieces I had didn't have any cheese at all, but that might have been an anomaly. Not gluten free, but artisanal. It's a good place for groups of people who have different tastes. About 30 mins after, we asked them about our pizza, and they went to go check on it, and said it was almost ready. And we waited another 15 mins. It sounded like they lost our order. Would have been nice to get honesty up front or something complementary to make up for this wait. To be fair, the pizza was very good. We ordered the prociutto fungi pizza and it was a wood fired pizza with thin crust. It was just an unfortunate experience for us that day. I was very disappointed with my pizza. I ordered their pepperoni and cheese pizza and then payed for extra pepperoni and extra cheese. It came with extra nothing. It only had pepperoni and mozzarella, none of the other toppings on their menu pizza. I basically paid more to receive less. Now, if I am mistaken and what I received was their double pepperoni double cheese pizza then it's a huge rip off. I checked it out on the way home today - not bad, but wasn't too impressed. The selection of pizzas they had weren't that exciting, the toppings were a little sparse on the slices, and the ranch dressing was just a bit too heavy. I also was a bit disappointed because my pizza was pretty much cold! I do see potential though. Their pizzas are wood stone fired, and I did notice a bit of a difference in the crust, which had a more "authentic" taste to it. But seriously, I think the only way to really appreciate that is if the pizza's hot right of the wood oven.
