This Cafe is basically hidden on York Road behind a Jiffy Lube. However, despite its plain Jane look and interior and off-beat location it serves reasonably priced good food for dinner and lunch. The seafood dishes are particularly fresh and nicely prepared and always served hot so that's what we ordered. We visited on Saturday night and we had our usual favorites, shrimp kebobs with rice, grilled vegetables and a side salad. This entree consisted of two nice skewers of shrimp (8 large ones) and a sizable order of rice. My husband had a large crab imperial made exactly the way he likes-without the heavy sauce on the top. The crab dish was a nice ramekin of large Venezuelan lump crab meat that was served with a baked potato and a small side salad. The dressing for the salad is homemade and tasty. The bread basket is filled with ordinary commercial Parker house rolls and are just an accessory that can be avoided. It's the large platters, the nice service, the family ownership and the reasonable prices that make this a pleasant place to dine. One more comment, they have decent pizza if that's what you crave. Great food, great service. However, I recently had a strange experience. We arrived at 1:15 for lunch--on the LUNCH board menu, they listed stuffed rockfish-great--I ordered. The server asked me what sides I wanted so I ordered 2 sides. The bill came and the price of the rockfish went from $12.99 (on lunch board) to $19.99-$7/difference. When I questioned the server, he said "Well you ordered the dinner portion"--What?--Apparently, because I had 2 sides. The 2 sides were offered to me---Why would I order a dinner portion when I was there at lunch? It seemed odd. I decided not to fight the issue--tough times for restaurants --I figured this would be a donation-However, watch when you order at lunch to verify that this is the lunch option. read more

The place is tucked away off of York Rd and not easy to spot but if you can see the Jiffy Lube just north of Warren Rd you will find it. Roma shares a parking lot with them. The place was not too busy and appeared to be mostly regulars. To say that they are in need of some renovations is putting it mildly. It's kind of a mish-mosh of stuff with space made for a TV, a carry out area, etc. Cleanliness is not top on the list from the appearance of the restaurant and especially the restrooms. I had ordered for two of us and upon returning to the office was when we discovered that the italian cold cut had cheap meats - poor quality. I was not expecting an authentic Italian hogie, but come on. There was bologna, cooked ham, and what appeared to be some type of wanna be salami. Where is the parma cotto or the soppressata or some spicy coppa??? It was an over salty bust! The house salad was basic; iceberg lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomato and croutons. Pizza was good but a bit on the salty side. Perhaps they are trying to offer to vast a menu since the have anything from salads and sandwiches to steak and fish entrees. Place was awesome! Just looking for a decent place to eat while out and about at work. This place had great service. Even better food. Cheesy garlic bread was on point. Cold cut was excellent. The best shrimp salad on York Road! Seriously delicious large juicy shrimp perfectly spiced with just enough mayo to hold it together. I get it on a tossed salad with their house dressing on the side. They should bottle the house dressing it's so good. Delicious pizza, large portion on the salad, and speedy delivery. Tasty crust and fair with toppings on the pies. Salad was generously topped, though if my count was correct, we got three tomatoes. A few more next time would be ideal. My main comment is about the cheese... WOW they piled it on. I did not ask for extra cheese, and I cannot imagine what that would be like! The pizzas felt like they weighed ten pounds each upon delivery. Now, I loves me some cheese, so I'm not at all complaining here. But I could see how others, like, my wife, for example, might not want that much cheese. Next time I might ask them to take it easy... on hers! The slices saved for the next day also stuck together (due to the cheese volume). Delivery was quick and courteous. Phone ordering was a bit of a challenge, as the order-taker seemed extremely distracted. I had to spell "farm" (part of my address) three times. We have never been to the restaurant in person but have ordered carryout through grubhub! The food was delicious! We ordered manicotti and a stromboli. i have been eating here and getting take-out for a long time. the shrimp salad sandwiches on rye bread are fantastic and with just the right amount of old bay seasoning. a throw back to the way most places used to make shrimp salad sandwiches. the seafood alfredo linguine is another one of my favorites here and they give you a nice amount of seafood with the pasta. the pizza is also delicious. medium crust with lots of good quality cheese. you wont leave here hungry. read more

How have I not reviewed Roma's?! My husband and I moved away from this area about 6 months ago... Happily for our waist lines as we used to get Roma's delivered at least once/week... but my future looks slightly more bleak without anything remotely comparable in our new hood. Honestly, I never had anything bad from this place. Their pizza is awesome. It uses real mozzarella and fresh toppings. Definitely the best pizza we found in the Cockeysville area. Their salads are huge and fresh and their fries are perfect. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Love. We haven't ever eaten in - pickup and delivery were our methods of choice as we only lived a mile or so down the road. I see that a couple of other reviewers had bad service experience and/or wondered how the restaurant stays in business when their parking lot is so empty... I honesty imagine it's because most of their business is not dine-in so they haven't invested in making that top notch. No deductions from me on that account given our personal experience. I mean, it's an inexpensive, family owned food joint in Cockeysville... if you really want to eat THERE, just don't go in expecting spectacular ambience. That said, their delivery was always extremely timely, professional, and friendly. There was one occasion when they forgot to bring us a side of sauce that we had asked for, and not only were they profusely apologetic, but they had it to us within about 10 minutes along with free dessert. Not necessarily but certainly appreciated. We got all of our neighbors hooked on their pizza too, so I we've already done some real life crowd sourcing for you. I've given this place a couple of chances because it is right around the corner. The first time, my kids and I went to get some ice cream because their sign says they have it. What the sign does not say is that the ice cream is not really a dairy product and it leaves a weird oily film in your mouth when you eat it. The owner seemed nice and he was hovering over our table asking if we were okay and we felt bad for not liking it so we ate it anyway. The next time was just the other day. I had a coupon so I figured I'd try their hot food, maybe it would be better than the ice cream. I ordered a chicken parmesan sub. The chicken was not breaded. In fact, I recognized the texture and shape of the chicken to be Tyson's ready to eat chicken strips, the kind you normally put in salad when you are at your house, not something you expect to find in a sub at an italian place. My aunt ordered a ham sandwich and she said it was okay, but frankly she said that Subway makes a better sub. All in all, this restaurant needs to seriously consider using higher quality ingredients. The cheapest isn't always the best. If they had been even slightly decent I'd probably go back a lot because its so close to my house, but as it stands I will go ahead and keep walking past Roma's Cafe to Little Tony's which is across the street and so much better. read more

We ordered delivery consisting of a cheesesteak w/mustard and lettuce and Stuffed Shrimp w/crab imperial. The steak sub was your basic bland processed Steak-um you buy from the grocery store, roll was soggy after telling them to toast it well done before putting anything on the roll. Went for lunch the other day, and walking in towards the end of the traditional lunch hours I had the not uncommon thought of "how does this place stay in business." The lack of customers - only a single table was occupied - seemed to harken to the out-of-the-way location of the cafe, sandwiches between numerous auto service businesses. Despite the lack of customers, service wasn't exactly attentive. The gentleman I took to be the head honcho (and perhaps proprietor) helped me more than the young lady who appeared to be a waitress. In terms of food, I achieved my mission of satisfying my hankerin' for a gyro. It wasn't Greektown good, but still plenty tasty enough. Didn't really inspect the menu closely since I knew what I wanted, so I can't comment on that. Prices were fine. Will be back sometime to check out the cafe a bit more thoroughly. read more

It was my first time there and I've been wanting a good chicken parmigiana sandwich like the ones I used to get when I lived in New York, so I decided to give this place a try. From the outside, this place looked like a nice restaurant, although in an unusual place, because it's behind I think a Jiffy Lube and a Meineke. Inside, all the tables were empty even though it was an early evening on a Friday, which was surprising. (Maybe they have a big lunch crowd.) The staff seemed friendly, but the place looked like it needed some help from Chef Ramsay. It looked very outdated. Getting back to the chicken parm I ordered to go. It came to $8.48 with fries, which I thought was expensive, but was hoping worth the price. Well, I was disappointed. I thought I was given the wrong order because I bit into chunks of chicken breasts with cheese and a little sauce, which was a little too salty I might add, instead of a breaded chicken cutlet; not to mention, the fries didn't taste fresh and had a weird taste or coating on them. I attempted to eat it, but I was so disappointed that I had to stop and call them so I could take it back. To make a long story short, the "chef" and the owner explained that my order was no mistake and that their chicken parm comes that way. However, the chicken parm with pasta is made with a breaded chicken cutlet. I have NEVER heard of it made any other way, nor have I ever had it that way. NEVER. The owner told me if I wanted breaded chicken, to ask for it next time, but the owner asked the "chef" to make me another sandwich. I also asked for fresh fries and the owner reluctantly agreed. Well, I was even more disappointed with the second one. It was saltier and it did not taste like a chicken cutlet. It tasted like pieces of chicken dipped in some sort of tempura batter. We used to visit Roma's once a month or so. But the last few times we went the service was horrible. Or server spent all of her time standing by the drink section mindlessly gazing around the establishment but never returning to anyones table to refill drinks or even deliver our check. The food was good, this time was the first time I ever left no tip. This happened about 1 year ago and we have not been back since. We drive by the place all of the time and rarely see any cars in their lot. I don't know if the service is still that bad, but I am not going to return to find out. Went for lunch....thinking it was going to be the average, over-priced pizza joint. I ordered a Cajun Chicken Sandwich and fries. I was amazed that for under $9, I received a HUGE sandwich with 2 chicken breasts (cooked to perfection) and a nicely sized order of fries that were also done just right. (08/05/2011) This one is in our usual rotation for dinner with the in-laws. It's a basic place, family-run, a little on the divey side (looks like it was formerly a pizzeria, checked tablecloths and checked vinyl tiles on the floor). Some things come out better than others, we're still trying to figure out what the pattern is. I like the broiled seafood platter (flounder, 3 shrimp, a couple of scallops broiled with a little butter and paprika) and the crab imperial -- big pearly white lumps of Venezuelan crabmeat in basically a mayonnaise, paprika, Old Bay concoction, better with a squirt of lemon. MIL is fond of the rainbow trout when it's on the menu. My husband likes the pizza and stromboli type things. Essentially, don't expect a whole lot of creativity or a whole lot of zip. Hmm, now that I've said all this, why do we still go there...it's cheap (a double crab cake dinner with 2 sides for less than $20?!), the food is fresh (well, most of it, things like desserts, salads and vegetables look like they're prepped in house, things like a chicken tender or breaded chicken cutlet are obviously frozen products), the family is nice (they're also the servers, so cut them a little slack, they're not pros). It really feels like a neighborhood kind of place, and they don't need to advertise that in a slogan. read more

The business is locally owned and the owners are very nice. The breading on the chicken was just the right balance, and the fries were perfectly seasoned. Their chocolate cake is incredibly decadent and moist and was the perfect ending to my stay in this area. Yelp states to allow for 45-60 minutes for delivery, but both times I ordered, they showed up within 20 minutes (faster than most pizza chains and delivery in general). If you're looking for great-tasting food and convenience, then look no further! read more

Roma's Cafe is a little hidden away in a corner of York Rd, but they are a very good. They have your standard type of American Traditional fair but they also have some house Greek specialities. I have gotten a number of different things from there and all have been very good. While nothing necessarily blows you away all the food is good. The Greek pizza is exceptionally well done and they also make a solid gyro and cheesesteak. If you are looking for a good place with good prices this is a great choice. I also wanted to mention that they have carry out and sit in dining. I would definitely recommend Roma's and hope they continue to do well in the area. read more
