This was our first order and will likely be our last. My fiancé wanted a bbq chicken dinner which is on menu and in the review pictures. I was told their menu online is old and they no longer have bbq chicken. So we ordered the rotisserie chicken dinner with Mac-n-cheese, and candied yams and a meatloaf dinner with Mac-n-cheese, and collard greens. I was apprehensive at first since I do not like the shopping center, but the food and service has been on point. Usually pretty busy and only have 2 registers to take orders, which isn't too bad but one of the 2 are also taking carry-out orders over the phone, so it's constantly interrupted. It's sort of set up buffet style but there are servers that makes your platter and you can watch them prepare it for you. They usually have 5 or 6 servers however none of them have ever wore hair nets, hats or gloves while filling your order. I take my mom here every so often , she loves this place & I do too, however last week we were a disappointed to a long strand of hair in my mom's food. This could have been prevented by wearing hair nets. As much as I love this place putting in place food safety policies by law would be nice, otherwise I would have given them a 5 star. read more

Hmmm this is a tough one to review! I have mixed feelings about this place. I had a taste for some fried fish and Mac and cheese, so I drove from Columbia to give them a try. But I figured if all else fails, I'll just get fries. Upon entering, I browsed the "soul food" offerings, which were under heat lamps. Honestly, I don't see what my peoples see in the offerings. None of it looked like real soul food to me. And Mac and cheese is truly the test for good soul food, and just by looking at it one can tell it's not baked soul Mac and cheese. It's just shells and cheese, so I'll pass on trying any of their "soul" offerings. So on to the fried catfish. It wasn't bad, but just decent. It came out piping hot, but the breading was just missing something. That's the soul part that just wasn't there! It needed some seasoning. The fries were good and hot, but who can mess up fries right lol! The platter comes with a canned soda, but to upgrade to the four tier(?) drink it's like $1.25 more for a large with no refills. Now that's surely a rip off. The fountain tea and fruit (four tiered whatever!) drink was just a pile of sugar. Finally, the apple bread pudding everyone is raving about! BLAH! I don't know what others are tasting, but the bread part was a bland nothing. The apple seasoning didn't even taste like real apples. Just blah and bland!
