As a first-time customer, my experience was pretty disappointing. The bar advertises pizza throughout the space, so naturally I assumed it was something that could be ordered while we were there. When I tried to order one, I was told that pizza couldn't actually be ordered until later in the night. That was frustrating and honestly confusing. If something is advertised so prominently, it should either be available when customers ask for it or clearly communicated that it's only offered at certain times. The lack of clarity made the experience feel a bit ridiculous, especially for someone visiting for the first time. A simple sign or explanation upfront would go a long way in setting expectations and avoiding that kind of confusion. read more

Went there to have broasted chicken, but discovered I was there on a night when they serve prime rib also..... $30 for a 30 ounce "Queen" size. It and the sides were delicious. Most of the patrons of this smallish "country bar" place were eating at the bar, as I did. read more

Everything was great here food, service, cleanliness and waitress. We had the walleye fish fry with potatoes pancakes. It didnt disappoint. This place falls in the category of "hidden gem." It is well known to its regulars and neighbors, but hidden to the rest of us. I was in the area around dinner time, and I felt it was a good time to cross Romey's off my list of places to visit. As luck would have it, it was Prime Rib Night (Monday), so I ordered the Queen Cut (16oz, the King Cut is 32oz), and it included garlic bread, a vegetable, and baked potato. The prime rib was nicely-seasoned and served medium rare, as I requested. I enjoyed every bite, including the green beans! Ava, was tending bar, as well as serving the guests in the small but full dining room. She hustled and never missed a beat. I've gone there 10 times in the last year. I went yesterday with a friend who has gone there in the past and we got burgers. Every time they have bought us the first or second beer when we've gone there. Yesterday they didn't and they told me that it's only for people that they recognize. Sounds like a bad business model. So they have a new bartender and some people get free drinks and some don't. A simple fix would be everybody gets treated the same. read more

This has been a long time bookmark since Im not really in the area for anything so I made a special trip for a beer and burger lunch. The place is really just a small bar with a kitchen and one pool table. This is dive bar that was full and loud just after 11am on a Sunday so I moved from the bar to one of the small tables in the pool room. The place is clearly all locals and loudmouths talking to the whole bar. The menu is small and on one side of a sheet of paper but I was only here for the burger. I got the cheddar cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles that came with frys, and I was told rare was ok. The cheeseburger and frys looked good was my first thought and my second was the frys were crinkle seasoned looking. Rare was more like med in the center and no pink at all in parts of the patty. The frys were hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, ok. The cheeseburger was tasty with a nice char flavor in the patty. The bun I hated because it was a hard crust which came apart in chunks with each bite. Overall with the char flavor and the fresh toppings this was a good juicy burger that hit the spot. This place totally satisfied my beer and burger lunch crave and I would definitely go back for the tasty burgers. read more

Prime rib is AMAZING!!! My favorite place to go for my prime rib, everyone has to try it.

I left the bar because of some drunk women at the end of the bar accusing me of telling her friend to shut up. Then she worked at turning the bar against me. It was very uncomfortable. Then she was dancing around flipping me off. You should get rid of these dirt balls and it may be a nice place. Come here multiple times love seeing Amanda but this idiot at the bar has made it apparent I will not be back. This bar is a neighborhood bar in a rural area and the people pretty much are allowed and drunk and very obnoxious. There's not much selection above beer in this place and not much cool seating or size of it. There is a virtually no parking and I don't know how people get over here aside from hitchhiking or taking an Uber this is not a very good bar and was totally disappointing overall and they need a spring clean up on a weekly basis read more

Stopped by tonight to try their Fish Fry. I had the perch, my lady had the cod. Both very, very tasty. However... they had one person working the entire place~ bar, takeout, and tables. She was very nice but incredibly overwhelmed! To go orders were stacked up, some were late, others weren't even cooked yet. Food was good, atmosphere wasn't great. I have been coming up to Milwaukee for over 15 years on a regular basis and I have somehow missed this place. I will not make that mistake again... I ordered my food to go and while I was waiting the staff could not have been nicer. Really 4 and 1/2. Went for the Fish Fry...a Great Lakes tradition. Had Cod and fries with coleslaw and the different bread and butter thing. Fish was great. Batter fried and crisp. Fries were okay. I always have so much fun at Romey's! I enjoy meeting my neighbors there to play pool and listen to music. I haven't tried dinner yet, only appetizers and they were good. What an amazing dive! I went for lunch with a Groupon. The burgers were surprisingly good... really good in fact. If the atmosphere is what you like, skip it, however the food and staff were just great. Had a burger that was big, juicy and delicious. The fries were great as well. Phil The barkeep was super personable, and friendly. The drinks are really inexpensive and it comes with the built in entertainment of of the regulars crowded around the bar having colorful conversations. Although I haven't tried it, their prime rib dinner served one day a week, I had overheard several patrons talking about how great it is, and how huge the portion is. This is a place I would go to again for sure. Leave your bow tie and wing tips at home and wear your favorite concert or Harley T-shirt. If you can grow a grey beard before you go, you'll blend right in. Imagine that your friend's dad owns a bar. When you go there, you get a decent greeting from the bartender but everyone else puts down their beer to properly eye you over. Then after a few awkward seconds it's back to business as usual until the next guy walks in. This is has been my experience at Romeys. I've been there twice now...perhaps by visit #45 I'll feel more comfortable stopping in for a drink. Three stars because I like their location and good prices on drinks. We went here based on other reviews and were not disappointed! The tacos are out of this world! Tons of meat, choose your own toppings and sides, and each taco is only $2! The burgers are also all beef hand formed beef, none of this frozen pre-formed junk! The bacon was about 6 slices and it came on a fresh Kaiser roll with a heap of perfectly seasoned fries and thin sliced pickles. The ambiance is your standard local family bar with a pool table and a few side tables and an area out back to smoke. The menu is standard but according to the regulars amazing as the burger and tacos! I will be making this a regular spot! If you drink, I can say that they make the drinks strong based on how I see them poured even without imbibing. read more

We heard about this place and decided to try the fish fry which was outstanding - we had ordered to go a walleye and perch dinners - was great - fish and sides where worth the money. Just stopped in at Romey's bar in Franklin for a few drinks and some apps. The cook brought us the wrong appetizer, identified her error and apologized and stated she would bring the correct order. The cook said she would throw them away but if you want to eat them, I can just leave them.....Bill comes and I am billed for incorrect item plus what was ordered. Brought this to the bartender, Dedee attention. She argued and was getting louder and louder and insisted that since we got them that we are paying for them since we ate half of order. I happened to be in the area for St Martins Fair. We had a few choices and my sidekick insisted on Romeys for fish fry. He obviously was in the know. Absolutely amongst the finest Perch and in this case Beer Battered I've had in quite some time. Fresh, perfectly prepared, quick... you get the picture. I'm no fan of French fries so I went with the Potato Pancake - Outstanding. The meal absolutely hit the spot, the drinks and service were spot on. Friendly service and patrons.... The atmosphere was terrific. Small townish and local, yet welcoming and friendly. I ordered the cheeseburger and onion rings. The burger was tasty and cooked properly to my order, but I thought a bit small for a third pounder. The onion rings were overcooked to a deep brown and burnt tasting. I ate my fill.(Most of them) I also ordered a vodka gimlet which was very good, but pricey($5.50 or so). I will return because they have some great daily specials that look good. Romey's has been there since I was a young buck, feeling out the beat of St. Martins (Franklin). I really did not frequent it too much until my mid 30's though. Things changed a little, but not too much. Some upgrades are enough to mention though.1) First class jukebox. normally some good music is pumping through there too. And if Shelly is around, she will find some hits. 2) I have only eaten there once, but the baked cod and potatoes pancakes on Friday are Top-Flight. I would put up against anyone's in the city. And that's no bull-jive. I know a couple bartenders there, Andrea and Sloan, both are A-grade. The parking lot is not paved, so if you have a motorcycle try to park in front. Real fair prices.
