It is a smash burger with onions, cheese, and a delicious burger sauce. The burger was very flavorful and juicy. The onion rings were cooked perfectly. My sister ordered the battered cod. Unfortunately she was not a fan. She said it tasted like it had been sitting out awhile. We were there on Good Friday around 7pm, so maybe it was leftover from during the earlier dinner rush. read more

Great spot in a historical building! We decided to go on a Saturday evening. Their adjacent parking lot was fairly full, but to our surprise we were seated immediately. Still decorated for Christmas, the interior was festive. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived (7pm) they were sold out of ribs, but there were plenty of other options. We opted for the big soft pretzel as an app. It was served piping hot with a nacho cheese & honey mustard dipping sauce that were perfect compliments. For my dinner I chose the Swiss Dip & subbed fries for the Navy Bean Soup. The burger was cooked to perfection, with a lovely mushroom sauce to dip! I've been here quite a few times over the years, it's kind of a Hales Corners cornerstone, being one of the first businesses built in the area like 100 or so years ago. My retention of history is sketchy at best! But it's old, it's iconic, and when they widened Hwy 100, the WHOLE building was picked up and moved like 20 feet to the west because it was better than demolishing the historic building. Fun fact, it's supposed to be haunted. That I read in an actual book :) The building has a pretty cool history to it though, even without ghosts. I typically utilize the new drive thru that was implemented during the early years of covid. It's such a convenient way to get fish fry on Fridays. I don't live far so the food is always still hot when I get home. There's limited options to make it easy on staff(baked or fried), and two windows to make it easy on customers. Pay at one, pick up at the other. It's been far too long since I dined in so I will need to do that again soon. read more

Friday fish fry drive thru..., not good! So sad. We pass all the time. We finally decided to try it since we've been trying someone new every Friday. Quick drive up. Girl was pleasant in fish trailer. With tax $21 per person. Our drive is 5 mins home. All 3 pieces of fish stuck to paper in grease soaked destroyed paper box. Fish breading soggy and very fishy tasting. Fries-good. Rye bread good and salty & served with butter. Tartar has a hint of mustard and a bit pickley. Our experience here was just okay. We arrived at 9 a.m., and while the timing seemed fine to us, the server mentioned we came "just in time," which felt a little odd and set the tone for the visit. The food. The portions were generous, and everything came out quickly, which was nice. That said, the food itself was fine--not bad, not great. It did the job but wasn't memorable enough to bring me back. The service. Unfortunately, this is where things fell short. The server wasn't particularly friendly and handed us the check without much interaction. It all felt... off, like maybe they weren't thrilled we were there. This is a small quirky place with an almost cult following. They fill up quickly, but service is good and the kitchen is fast. There is a drive through service put in during COVID that years later still winds around the parking lot and often onto the road. Food is very good! Haven't been here in a month of Sundays, so I picked this place to see if the Friday specials were still good. Yup they were. We made. Reservation for 5:30 and when we arrived, our table was ready for us. Drinks were ordered and delivered and our server gave us a bit of time to peruse the specials and the rest of the menu. The server returned in a few minutes and we set up the breakdown of couples and items ordered and off he went to get the items prepared. It seemed like no time passed nd our entrees were brought out, except there seemed to be. Mixup, since two fish fry dinners were not brought with the rest of the table entrees. I would never go here again! Im disabled and the ramp to the entrance is scary. There was a lip at the door and it took me numerous tries to get in. The scary part was the stairs to get in were right behind me. Food not impressive One person had the fish sandwich it was cold The hamburger was described as huge. However part of the way through my husband's meal-he found a long blonde HAIR in the fish. We did eventually alert the waitress. I have driven past Bosch Tavern countless times over the years and watched progress when they had to shut down to move the building, but I had never stopped there for dinner or drinks! The other night, my husband and I finally went! It was just how I expected inside - casual bar ambiance and the food was excellent! I ordered the fried haddock fish fry and it was crunchy, not greasy and the fish was flaky. I can understand why Bosch has the reputation of one of the best fish frys in the area! I also tried the dry rub fries and they were good but a little bit heavy on the seasoning for me although I liked the unique smokiness.... my husband got the Swiss Dip and it was fantastic. I loved how "mushroomy" it was and the mushroom sauce was the perfect touch! Just great visit after great visit at The Bosch! Met our friends out for a fish fry for 8 at 6:00 on Friday night...got us a table within 10 minutes (on a busy night) and had the first round of drinks to us within 5 minutes. Service was super friendly and attentive- drinks were great (frightening how few bars can pour a solid Manhattan, but this one certainly can), and food was solid. I prefer cod or perch, but for a haddock fry, it's a good one. I have known for years that Saturday after 5pm the house smoked meats come out fresh from the smoker but I was very skeptical because after looking for any pictures for four years now and still no dam pictures of the smoked ribs, you know it's a tavern. Well it's a Steve stop by time now and let's see what the smoked ribs are all about, I'm a Bbq junkie. I scouted the building/property for a smoker and found a Bbq trailer camouflaged as a metal shed in the back that had smoke coming out of it but I did a reverse of my personal policy and got a half rack because of no pictures of the Bbq ribs with the smell of smoke. The 1/2 rack came with dill coleslaw, potato wedges and two Bbq sauces on the side that I requested because I judge the naked meat to see if it stands on its own. If your a potato wedge fan like me than your going to like them, super plentiful skin on cooked golden, soft inside but needed salt/seasoning to bring out the full tasty potental. The dill coleslaw surprised me because it was very creamy with the right amount crunch. The Bbq sauce was not bad because it was thick, semi sweet and super tangy but it's not going to be used on the ribs here, no need. The ribs looked wonderful and smelled amazing with a nice carmelized bark. The ribs were very tender/moist fall off the bone clean, not that little chew that I like but tasty with a sweet Smokey flavor but not that hit you over the head smoke taste. The meat had that pink smoke look that novices to Bbq say is not cooked/raw/under cooked, the real deal with sweet wood and not bitter woods which should appeal to the masses. The bottom line is that the Bosch Tavern has never let me down from a historic building with the food and beer served to me on my visits, the burgers and Bbq are better than average and I get to hang out in a historic tavern, look at the history people. read more

Ok. I went here for the BBQ because the building looked good, and there's a smokehouse out back. I'm a BBQ fanatic and lived in Texas for years, where I'd travel the state looking for the best bbq. I know my cue, but I'm not a Texas style snob- I love North Carolina and Kansas City que as well. There were some SERIOUS problems with the bbq here. First, despite having a smoker outside and signs up talking about their meat being smoked in applewood- zero smoke flavor. You could have made the meat in a crock pot for all the smoke flavor that was in it. Second, the sauce was a familiar, flat, overly sweet and bland sauce. Unmodified Sweet Baby Ray's. It's not good. Some salt or apple cider vinegar would have been an improvement but nope! Straight out of the jar Baby Ray's. The brisket sandwich on a brioche bun, the best part was the bun. Brisket was dry and bland. The pulled pork tacos were also Not Yummy. The baked potato soup, sweet potato fries, and seasoned fries were good but I don't go to a BBQ place for sides. The coleslaw was awful. Bland, under salted, overly sweet and lacking any acid to balance it. I adore cabbage and coleslaw, had one bite and didn't continue. Most of the dishes were under seasoned with sweet on sweet on sweet sauces. The only acidic note on my plate was the pickle. That said, the service was darn good, hitting the right balance between attentive without being intrusive. The bathrooms were clean and nice, and if you want a spot to grab a few drinks, munch on some fries and watch the game, this could be a perfect spot for you- just don't go for the bbq. read more

This place is a few blocks away from the weekend job - a great spot to grab a drink after work. On my most recent visit, they had specialty drinks for the colder season - hot toddy being my favorite (I think they called it the Herman Toddy or something close to that), basically a hot chocolate with booze (oh, and whipped cream). Friday Fish Fry! The fish you get is a little smaller than the average fish fry, but they give your three pieces instead of two, so it works out. Chili is tasty at the Bosch too! I ordered a cup and it came with some bread too (wasn't expecting it, I'll happily take unexpected food though). Fun fact, they used to be located in a slightly different location, like a few feet away. They literally picked up the tavern to move it 25 feet west for an expansion of Highway 100. The Bosch has stepped up to the Coronavirus plate in a huge way!!! They clearly modified their original French fries to stay crispy in to-go boxes! They also set up an easy, amazing drive thru pickup and quick ordering over the phone. Absolutely, hands down recommend them for your quarantine takeout. I appreciate that their staff wears masks and visibly hand sanitizes after each car drives on. The fish fries on Friday are on point, love this place, love the sweet potato fries and the salads are out of this world. Although we have been long-term customers of The Bosch, this is the first and last time we will be purchasing either fish dinner fried or oven baked, especially from the drive-thru you offer. First, the price was outrageous and the fried fish consisted mostly of french fries and less than mediocre fish with none of the accompaniments. The baked fish was very dry and missing all of the accompaniments. Second, all four meals were missing parts of the meal (e.g., bread, sour cream, cole slaw, and tartar sauce). If we were in the restaurant these issues would be resolved, but this was discovered after we delivered two dinners to shut-ins and when we returned home. In addition to Yelp, we will be sharing this with friends, inturn we hope they will share with their friends and family members, and they will share with even more! Hopefully, this will improve, but for now, I wouldn't recommend The Bosch - we are out. read more
