What a rip-off! Stay away at all cost! I knew what my 1st floor AC unit needed, which was a refill of freon R-22. I also knew it would be expensive because it has been discontinued due to government regulations. Ron Jon charged me $400/lb!!! That sounded extravagantly high, so I decided to check. Most HVAC contractors (I called 3) would not give a price for the freon over the phone. They ALL wanted to send a technician out, for a fee, and the technician would then tell me the cost. What a racket! At last, I found a nice lady at Air Group in Hanover to tell me the 1st LB would be $400, and then each pound after that would be $200/lb. So, for 4 lbs of freon R-22, Ron Jon ripped me off the $600! read more

We had to replace our AC unit which was 23 years old and had broken down. We decided to go with Ron Jon after getting 3 separate bids as the best value. We were very impressed with the service. Office staff responded to all our calls and messages promptly. They could not do the work on the originally scheduled date but called us a few days in advance to let us know that the equipment received had a defect. They came, promptly on the next scheduled date after confirming multiple times. The installers who came were terrific. Two were trainees but the rest of them had been with the company for many years and all were very happy employees. They worked efficiently and expertly, leaving a working beautifully. We received a paid invoice the next day along with some further instructions. There was no nickel and dime-ing with anything. We would recommend them highly. read more

I recommend Ron Jon for both heating and A/C. We bought an older house and were aware of the limited life we had on the old systems. We started with the noisy clanking furnace after the first winter of uneven heat. We got three bids and decided to use Ron Jon for both their scheduling and pricing. Two summers later it was time to replace the A/C. Again, after three bids we used Ron Jon. On both occasions they were easy to schedule, prompt and efficient. The heating system has four zones which all work as designed and save energy as we have the coordinated thermostats shutting down parts of the house during times we do not use the rooms. Both installations were done in one day each and the three-man crews were careful, clean and respectful. They do want you to use their annual service contract for inspection and maintenance for the warranty period so ask other bidders their policy if that concerns you. We had Ron Jon install a DAIKIN Dual Interior split system the other day [12000BTU per interior unit] .. VIRTUALLY NO SURPRISES ! The installation happened exactly as promised .. the entire work crew was terrific, clean, polite and very very capable .. no mistakes or rework, everything worked perfectly when we turned it on to test. Their quote was also very fair and included the electrician's fee, which many quotes do not include. VERY VERY EXCELLENT JOB. The only kerfluffel occurred when the town official in Millburn MISREAD my survey re where the outside compressor unit was to be located, and told us the location did not conform to zoning requirements, which it was more than obvious it did [one needs BOTH a work permit PLUS zoning conformance clearance]. So, I had to straighten them out, which was very annoying to say the least, and took a lot of time on the phone. Plus in addition I had to PAY for the inconvenience! So my advice is: make sure the township people know what they are doing! Also .. Ron Jon was very accommodating wrt all of this. read more

Buyer beware. They are generally a lower priced option for new equipment, but they REQUIRE you to pay for annual service contract to keep equipment guarantee in effect. They came to our house for a service call, did nothing but complain about the previous work that was done. I had to push them to think through different possible solutions. They offered absolutely zero ideas on how things could be improved. Charged $165 to do nothing but complain. I understand that some things aren't easy fixes, but if you are looking for a solution-based partner to give you guidance on how to make things better, this org ain't it. Outstanding service and knowledge! I called and spoke to Tangee about a problem I was having with my HVAC units. She was wonderful and responsive on the phone. She was able to arrange a service representative to come that afternoon. Joe came and evaluated both of my furnaces and was able to solve the problem that other HVAC technicians could not identify or fix. He was wonderful, explained the issue, and made adjustments as necessary. Ron Jon was recommended by my real estate agents, and I could not be more pleased with this recommendation. read more

Be sure to get all the info on charges up front. Ron Jon fleeces its customers. My furnace is only a couple years old. It stopped working, so I called for service. Nobody informed me when I called that I would be charged for service regardless of warranty status - that was the first surprise. The technician arrived promptly and quickly diagnosed the problem, but didn't have the part. When the part was available, they called and told me that the part was free under warranty, but I had to pay for the service call - $165. A different tech came and replaced the part, then they charged me for 2 service calls! $330 in labor to replace a $10 part, maybe 20-30 minutes of actual work. I will avoid calling them in the future because I don't like to be ripped off. read more

I literally never do this or write reviews but livid and want to save other people from using these these awful humans. I posted this on Google Christmas, 2022. fast-forward to yesterday our air is not working and because we had to have another company come out and touch our system on Christmas Day since Ron John was closed, And weren't able to fix it the first 3 times they came out that week, They're telling us that they can't come out and we need to use another company. Ron Jon Heating and Cooling, Inc. is the actual worst, and if you look at their reviews, it will say so. Christmas time 2022 I left a message to the owner to go over all of this with us and he never called me back and it looks like this is his MO. There are so many other amazing companies do not ever use Ron Jon Heating and Cooling, Inc. Ron Jon put in our system 2 1/2 years ago. The week leading up to Christmas our heat was not working. They were out three times and could not figure out what the issue was. The Friday before Christmas Eve we called and still the same thing they said turn off the system and turn it back on like we told you sure enough Christmas Eve our heat shuts off we go to bed at 59° weather and wake up opening presents at 47° we have a recommendation to call affordable air out of East Hanover. They come within two hours and figured out the issue within 30 minutes. Ron Jon was at our house three times and could not figure that out the issue despite them even installing the system. Another company comes out and diagnoses the issue within 30 minutes. I reached out to Ron Jon owner and he never called me back. I am beyond disgusted that my children how to open gifts from Santa and 47° and the owner felt no obligation to return my call. would never use them again clearly they don't know what they're doing. read more

I sincerely don't know what to do about my A/C system. This company installed our AC a few months ago but we haven't used it until recently. They placed one vent in the largest bedroom in my house while placing 3 vents in the smaller room. This means my daughters' room is literally 82 degrees when the rest of the house is 73. My infant is boiling! Extreme heat can lead to SIDS (Sudden infant death syndrome). I have called SEVERAL times for help and NOTHING, no response. They keep telling me someone will contact me but that's all lies. My next step is the better business bureau. read more

Stay away. They installed our a/c years ago. With that being said, I was using them for our annual start-up. At first the service seemed very thorough but after several years they were in and out of the attic in less than 10 minutes. I started using another company for our start up. Fast forward to August 2019, we had our air conditioning replaced by the new company. Get the inspector for electrical and we failed. New company put sub panel where Ron Jon put it which was in a spot that couldn't be reached. Not sure how we passed inspection the first time. Stay away and find a reputable company. read more

We called Ron Jon in the morning and they were at my house by 11am that day. They lady Donna who helped schedule my appointment was great and very helpful! She was very nice and made my day with her sense of humor. Joe, the technician was very professional, knowledgeable and had all the parts needed on hand. He was in and out within 30-45 minutes and fixed my air conditioning system! He probably would have been out faster if I didn't ask so many questions! We use Ron Jon for one of our rental properties, and they have been great. They addressed an AC issue that 2 other companies couldn't figure out - and did it in the high heat of summer. They have replaced a furnace and hot water heater for us as well. Their support staff in the office is patient and thorough in handling our tenant issues (kudos to Lisa and Donna!), and we've dealt directly with the owners (2nd generation sons) who we trust with their advice and recommendations. The communication of customer service staff with clients is substandard. I received notice to schedule maintenance on my air conditioning unit. I called over a month before and left a message, no call back. This morning I call to make the appointment, I told the individual, that no one returned my call. Her response well do you want to make an appointment or become an inactive account. My response was that I want to make an appointment to give your organization another try. When make the appointment, I shared with her that last year I received a call for payment which was not done. She said I will make your account inactive. Customer Service interaction is a glimpse of the service provided by an organization. I will not recommend Ron Jon when asked which Heating and Cooling service I use. read more

Every year we get an offer for annual maintenance from these guys and every year it serves as a reminder and makes me mad. This year... 1 star review therapy! In 2007 when we were in the process of moving from NYC to Short Hills, we contracted Ron-Jon to put another central AC system in to service the 1st floor, which had none as-was. They were recommended by our real estate lady, who shall remain nameless. We had a tight schedule because we were having the floors refinished and the floor guy said that he needed the AC running to help the floors dry because of the humidity. When we dropped off our up front money to the Ron-Jon world headquarters a week or so before the closing, we made it clear that we would be living in a hotel from the day before the closing until the floors were dry, 10 days later. We told the woman that they should call me on my cell phone when they knew what time they were going to start so I could meet them there to let them in and whatever else. She said she got all that and everything would be fine. Fast forward to the day of the installation... No word from them. I started to get nervous and called the Ron-Jon at 9:15 and this woman (a different one) tells me that no one knew about this and that they were there at 6am waiting for someone to show up. She admitted that no one tried calling anyone. They just sat there and started doing what they could on the outside. She then told me that they moved on to a different job and wouldn't be back until Monday. Of course the floors were starting on Saturday. Apparently the first woman went on vacation and her calendar isn't the same as the other calendar. The Ron guy argued with me that I should have been there and that I should have made sure that the other office woman knew what we needed. He graciously allowed his crew to come back later in the day, which was somewhat helpful, but didn't get the job done. Basically we had to bribe the workers with several hundred dollars in cash to come back and finish the job, which they did. They also left a giant mess, plus: -the air handler was wired wrong as per the Jon. -they left the emergency cut off wires on the water pump unconnected -apparently it's bad when the return is located 4' directly below one of the vents -the sheet metal forming the actual vents was shoddily constructed and many of the vent covers (floor vents) wouldn't seat properly. It's as if when they forged Air Group, Ron-Jon was formed from the scraps. I guess there's a reason I never see any of their trucks around here. read more

I had been using Ron Jon for a couple years for basic HVAC checkups and had been satisfied with them. However an issue arose almost two months ago which required a new part. They said they would order it and that it would take about a week to get it. After a few weeks I started calling about it and got a runaround. Finally after 7-8 weeks they said the part was in and that they would need to send two technicians to install a part that was half the size of a brick and was in an easily accessible area. When they arrived (on time to be fair) they quickly determined that they had ordered the wrong part. I asked a question and got contradictory answers from the two technicians so I asked for clarification and one of the technicians became very snippy. I won't use Ron Jon again. I tried Air Group Service who arrived on time the next day and told me the part I needed was readily available. The technician was professional and pleasant and I will continue to use them. read more

Ron Jon you are AMAZING!!! From the initial meeting for a quote to the final piece of paperwork. The entire team (crew, Ron, Jon, lovely ladies in the office) are helpful, patient and diligent. The entire process was seamless - appt confirmations, people arrived when they said they would and the installation process was incredible. Ron Jon arrived at 8am and were totally finished by 4.21pm the same day! There was very little mess/clean up after (which I found amazing) and the ducts are all perfectly aligned - especially good if you have a keen eye for detail!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED - do not deal with these people - we just moved into our house and need our ducts clean because we are all very sick from mildew and poor air quality - they refuse to come on the scheduled date-they do not care if your kids are sick or if you are suffering - my elderly father is very sick and they do not care. Not only that they were suppposed to change out our non working central humidifiers- big job they had- and they cancelled on us and left us in the lurch. This is not a reliable business-they are not going to get business from us and are losing out on a good pay check. read more

The worst customer service. On two separate occasions I've called them because they do all the HVAC work for my employer in town (very large corporate account). Both times, two separate events, I've called desperate because of an urgent situation at my house. I was told to leave a voicemail and that someone would call me back. This past occasion netted now 8 days with no return call. Just like last time I tried to deal with them. All I'd ask for is a return call. I guess they only want large corporate accounts.
