I'm not a fan of the finished work. I found a Groupon online for Ron Parks Photography and went with it because the price seemed reasonable when compared to the shining reviews... but alas, you do get what you pay for. I hired Ron Parks as my photographer for my family maternity shoot. My initial phone conversation with Ron was great in that he went over the details for the day. We let him know that we wanted to shoot around the city of Georgetown, TX; he confirmed and also added that we could utilize his studio that was located above a coffee shop, as it had a huge window with a beautiful view and would make for nice silhouette photos. Ron also advised that we could have as many outfit changes as we wanted during the hour shoot. I couldn't wait for the day and told my husband and daughter to plan for at least one outfit change. The day of the shoot came and we waited for him in the coffee shop like he asked. Once he arrived, I thought it strange that we didn't initially go up to his studio to talk about the shoot or prep, but we went with it and began our family photo shoot around the beautiful city of Georgetown. After the first half of the shoot it was time for an outfit change. We weren't escorted to his studio, but instead, back to the coffee shop to use their restroom to change into our second outfits; my husband changed in the car. Odd, but the general experience of the shoot so far was enjoyable, so we continued. As we neared the end of the second half of the shoot, I asked Ron about his studio idea with the view and the silhouette pictures. He responded that we would have to climb a number of stairs to get to it and mentioned a few other things that deterred my decision to want to go to the studio to finish the shoot. On any other day I would have pushed the issue, but I didn't because I was 8 months pregnant, wearing heels and getting pretty tired. At the end of the shoot, Ron offered us another photo package in which we could purchase the entire shoot of over 100 photos for a reasonable price-- we purchased it. We were advised to give him about a week to send the full photo DVD that we purchased. After 3 weeks of no word, I sent him an email to check on the status; I was advised it was in the mail. Once we received the disc, my family and I sat down to review the (over 100) maternity shoot pictures. I was almost immediately unimpressed and disappointed in the quality, lighting, creativity, poses, and general look of the photos. In most of the photos around the city where we were positioned in front of windows, either Ron or a member of our party's reflection was in it. The results just did not strike us as inspired or professional in quality at all. Of all of the photos we paid for, we only liked about 6 of them. Overall, Ron's a very nice guy and we had a fun experience, but I would not choose to go with this company again for a significant photo shoot. read more

He takes amazing photos and is super easy to work with and be around. He is super flexible and understanding when it comes to what you expect and want from any shoot. The best part was that we all got to drink and have a blast while he popped around and captured the epic moments. My sister and I had a double wedding and hired Ron Parks just a week and a half before our wedding at The Oasis in Austin. He was very pleasant on the phone and I was impressed with his photographs on the website. We were especially impressed when he wanted to do a photo shoot of my sister and I a few days before the wedding so he could have business cards with our pictures on it for each guest at our wedding. What a great idea.. right? This is where it went down hill. My sister and I went to his studio for the photo shoot. He took a few shots of us on the street. We went back to the studio for more pics and he started slowly recommending I take "artsy" pictures. For a good 30 minutes he wanted me to take my top down for these "artsy" pictures. Finally I was down right rude and told him these were pictures for our wedding and I was not getting naked?? He assured us that the photographer he was sending was excellent. You would assume to get the same quality of pics he advertises. This was wrong. The replacement he sent never gave ANY direction. Any creative pictures were my idea. He did not get one single picture of my daughter and step son together.. I would think that's very basic. Here is the kicker... He did not get ONE SINGLE PICTURE of my immediate family... as in ME, MY HUSBAND, MY DAUGHTER AND MY NEW STEP SON. When taking the bridal pictures he never fanned out my train or even said it needed to be fixed?? I could go on and on but you get the picture. We had no "frameable pictures" of my new family. So sad that we can't have that memory in our home. We did receive the CD of our pics quickly. Here is where it gets worse. When we called Ron Parks to express our concern here is what he said to our complaints. He said our wedding coordinator, Kelsey Shipman of the Oasis, should have been making sure my dress looked good for pictures. When I told him about the quality his response was "I hope one if my employees isn't as good". He gave us excuse after excuse and took NO responsibility. HERE IS THE KICKER.... He agreed to re-shoot us at the wedding location which was an out of town destination for my husband and I. We got my dress and his suit cleaned. packed our bags and made another trip to Austin. We had to pay to redo my hair, makeup and get two 7 year old in the wedding attire. We show up at the Oasis (Ron had said he would notify Kelsey at the Oasis and it would be fine) and Kelsey knew nothing about it. Thank GOD for her as she put us in a suit to change into our wedding dresses. 30 minutes after our appointment Ron still wasn't there. When I called him he said he was still in San Antonio and said he didn't have my number to call me???? I was beyond upset. He then asked me to wait another 2 hours for him to get there. Have you ever had two 7 year olds in formal attire and ask them to wait two hours to take pictures. Ron Parks is a untruthful and gave us horrible service. He does not have good business practice and I'm shocked he can run a successful business. He even threw The Oasis wedding coordinator under the bus blaming some of it on her. Dakota was diagnosed with lymphoma back in August. These are great photos of my dog and family that we will cherish forever. We lost Dakota in April of this year. I appreciate Ron's work even more. I hired Ron Parks Photography for my wedding back in May 2011. I had a 2 day wedding where the first night was a traditional Indian wedding, and the next night was the main white dress reception at the Oasis on Lake Travis. Ron parks photography was referred to me by the wedding planner at the Oasis, since they had supposedly shot many "sunset" weddings at that location and were familiar with the setting and lighting. Well I don't know how familiar they were since we do not have any clear portrait pictures during the sunset. The pictures were no where near the quality I was expecting. They are good at candid pictures but I would recommend paying an extra 250$ and having wedding portrait pictures taken earlier than the wedding. We do not have any "frame-able"pictures. Although Ron promised to be there for both nights, he left early on the first night to attend another wedding and left his assistant Carmen as the main photographer for the night. I have to say, overall I think his assistant did a better job than him since I was able to get a lot better pictures from the first night so even though I was upset at the time, I am sort of glad he did. We had a very large wedding, 400+ guests, which I guess they are also not familiar with since we barely have any pictures with our guests, better yet, we barely have pics of our guests. With 2 photographers present and 4 hrs of wedding time, I was expecting a lot more than just a total of 900 pics (that is total from both nights, so 900 pics over 8 hrs of wedding time from 2 nights). They didn't capture any picture of me throwing my bouquet or a picture of my husband and I exiting from the wedding hall, we walked down 3 floors with people blowing bubbles and holding sparklers and we barely got a few shots with the sparklers once we actually exited on the bottom floor and got ready to leave in the wedding car. Overall, I am disappointed with Ron Parks photography. I loved working with Carmen, she was very friendly, helpful, quick at responding to my emails, and very patient with me. They did a good job with my wedding album and I have the CDs of all the pics which is great. But they are over priced and I was not very happy with the quantity/quality of the pictures. read more

We got married in June of last year (2012), and today (March of 2013) we are STILL waiting on our albums and large print that were supposed to come with our package. I agree that Ron was very rude and unprofessional, and had a similar experience with the "artsy" photo request, to which we gave a similar response as the previous reviewer. We did like the pictures, but like I said, we are STILL waiting. Another HUGE problem was that we made a list in order to make the process a lot smoother on our wedding day. We have some sensitive areas of family and knew who could not be in pictures together (namely the groom's mother and father, as they are divorced). Instead of going along with the list (and the TWO warning emails I sent about this), Ron still insisted he go through his list instead and made for an awkward situation. Beyond that, when I asked if my flower girl (my niece) could be in the picture of my family (because he almost shot it without her!) he rolled his eyes at me and said something like "I guess so" under his breath. Are you kidding me!? The icing on the cake is that despite stating several times that I would like a picture of myself and my flower girl/ring bearer, the only one that was taken is of the flower girl looking somewhere off to the right and the ring bearer being half chopped off. All in all, I would not recommend this company. I hope we get our pictures...eventually...so we can be done with dealing with them at all. read more

I'm not sure where to start - I found his coupon on Groupon. I originally booked with him for a family photoshoot for Father's Day, but had to cancel. I thought it would be a great idea to use him (since it was already paid for) for our maternity shoot. Horrible idea. The day before he called & tried to push my appointment back 5 hours. I declined. Once we arrived he was clearly in a rush & you can tell by our pics. Not to mention on our outfit change he actually said "I really need to head out I have another family waiting on me." We only got a few pics in our second outfit. Even after me telling him, "we've spent money on outfits, this is our first baby & I spent money on a makeup artist so I really want nice pics ... not rushed ones." We HATED our pics so none of them can be given out. I wanted silhouette pics, but the guy is a perv & took extremely low quality/tasteless pictures of me. I am terrified to know what he is doing with those pics & who all he shows them to b/c he doesn't even do his own editing. Another man emailed me about which pics i wanted, after him saying his daughter does his editing. To say I regret this experience is an understatement. Here you can see how may husband is looking down like he's praying vs looking at my stomach, Ron NEVER told us he was looking down & not at my stomach, the editing is so horrible ... actually I don't think they're edited. The Christmas tree seemed like a great idea, but notice he even got behind the Christmas tree. In our first outfit we had on sandals (just for walking purposes) I told him repeatedly that I didn't want those sandals in the pics (the didn't match) he said "oh they won't be" guess what ... they are! In every single pic of us in our first outfit my hair is in my necklace, he never mentioned it. I mean just a horrible experience ... I have no clue what I did to end up having to deal with him. We are having the first grandchild on both sides & unfortunately aren't able to give out any of our maternity pics.Such a waste of time, money, energy & now a constant worry about what he's doing with my pics. Smh One last thing, he sends your pics on a cd & we use Mac (which isn't compatible with cd). I wasn't going to yelp about my experience, but I can't stop thinking about it & I feel I must do my due diligence to warn the next female. read more

I'm not much of a review man, but here we go. If you want inconsistency in your subpar engagement photos and a 50 year old dude to hit on your fiancé the whole time, Ron Parks is the man to see. Instead of paying for your photos, you can agree to the Ron Parks offer of doing a separate boudoir shoot (which she did not agree too). If you, as the man, walk away from her and Ron at any time, Ron will undoubtedly try to get your fiancé to take her top off for a "fun topless time." When he shows you the photos right after he takes them, they all seem pretty good, but when you get the disk, more than half of the photos will be blurry and unusable. So, all in all, a pretty horrible experience, but at least we have a picture of a lizard with his insanely large watermark on it. read more

Ah, no. My fiancee booked an engagement shoot with Ron Parks as part of a Groupon. We were getting married at the justice of the peace and were trying him out before we booked a wedding photographer. I know, I know, you get what you pay for, right? However, what we got looked like snapshots that anyone on the street could have taken. The poses and lighting were bad in almost all of them. Plus, it was really awkward. Ron has this super cheesy style that made my 44 year old fiance and I feel like 16 year old at the prom. I was actually embarrassed by the photos and asked his team to remove them from their website. I think his office really caters toward college students. His office is right off the UT campus and looks like a college student's dorm room, with paper and props and crap everywhere. Not very professional. read more

First, Ron is a nice guy. And I was really excited about all the pictures I had seen in Ron's portfolio. Plus, he had great reviews. But I have to say, I am really disappointed in our family photos. First, he showed up 15 minutes late for our photo session which was annoying because of the 2 kids that we were desperately trying to keep happy and entertained. He did not give us 15 more minutes, because he was booked solid for sessions after us that day. He did not take enough photos for my personal preference and some of the angles are just terrible and were not flattering for anyone. Several pictures have horrible shadows on our faces. I realize he's trying to get each photo 'right' to avoid editing but as a result, we were left with very few good photos. We paid extra for the high-resolution disc and we have maybe 4 photos total that I am only semi-pleased with. He told me it was a 7-10 business day turn around and I had to call 4 times after 3 weeks with no word. I finally heard back from him and got the online photos sent and the CD came another week after that. It took a lot to have my whole family in Texas and get them to agree to do photos and I'm just really disappointed. I feel like we wasted money on the disc because I will only be looking at 4 photos and trashing the rest because they are just that bad. I would recommend spending more money on someone else to hopefully get more quality pictures. read more
