I had to make an appointment with Dr. Astolfi for an implant. I was VERY nervous, however her and…read morethe team reassured me I would be comfortably numb and shouldn't feel any pain. I am happy to say, everything went GREAT! Dr. Astolfi was very understanding and made sure throughout the procedure that I was feeling okay, and still very numb. She is VERY intelligent, gentle and certainly knows what she's doing! She is caring and very passionate about her work. I would HIGHLY recommended this specialist. The receptionist was also very friendly, and the office was clean. Thank you all!

I was really looking forward to being seen by Dr. Astolfi after hearing positive reviews online and…read morefrom local dental offices. Unfortunately, my own experience didn't live up to that reputation. As a transplant recipient, I called to schedule an appointment and was prepared to pay entirely out of pocket. I was upfront about my health history immediately and shared that I did not believe I would need surgery or drastic intervention but wanted to take preventive steps to take care of some issues that had come up. Then, after giving the office access to my records I was told my case wouldn't be taken on specifically because of my complex medical history. I understand every provider has the right to decide which cases fall within their comfort zone, but it was disheartening to be turned away specifically because of health circumstances that led to needing periodontal care in the first place? I'd have appreciated more transparency about what specifically made my case a concern, being told upfront when I disclosed my health history that Dr. Astolfi does not work with patients who have complex medical conditions, or even a referral to someone equipped to treat patients like myself. Patients navigating complex medical situations are often the ones who most need to find a provider willing to work with them, not around them. I hope this feedback is useful for the practice going forward.

However, when I moved Summit Smiles wanted me to get a deep cleaning despite my numbers suggesting my teeth / gums were in good shape due to my regimen. In any event, I agreed to just get in with a dentist. They told me my x-rays may not be covered by my insurance. I agreed to that too. I get a bill from them for $71.00 for a comprehensive oral examination plus I now need to spend over $200 for deep cleanings. When I call them, the girl immediately had attitude and had to ask me my name twice and over talked me. She actually tried to project that I was the one overtalking her (lol). I could not get a word in edgewise and she just kept telling me I have to call the insurance company. They aren't the ones billing me. I hung up on her because she was just extra rude and I was not being heard. I called the insurance company to find out THEY FAILED TO LET THEM KNOW I WAS A NEW PATIENT so that is why I was being billed for the comprehensive oral examination. So they made the mistake. Needless to say, I just wanted a teeth cleaning. I didn't need a deep cleaning despite them forcing it on me. I live two hours from my previous dentist and will return to them until I find an honest dentist and one who doesn't have rude receptionists with attitude. They lost a patient and it is sad the people who answer their phones is the cause. It appears from other reviews I am not the first one this has happened to.
