I had been to my old dentist twice already because of pain on one side of my mouth. He took x-rays and examined me both times, but could never find anything. So I mentioned the pain to Dr. Wert. It took him five minutes to see what was wrong. He gently tapped on a couple of teeth--no pain--and then when he tapped on the third one it was clear he'd found the source of the pain. I had a crown on that tooth, and Dr. Wirt told me there was infection under the crown. He would have to remove it and clear out the infection. I was so relieved to know what was causing the pain, and that it could be fixed. I'm so glad he opened an office in Hellertown. Oh, and the office staff was very pleasant and helpful too.

After the X-ray was taken, his tech advised me that he wanted to do a scan at an additional cost of $1100, to be sure that the tooth next to it was not involved. Moreover, I had joined the savings plan. However, when I was presented with the bill, and I said that I was under the impression that x-rays, etc., were free, I was told that they are 20% off. Online, the plan clearly states that the x-rays and exam are free. Of course, the bill was not itemized. There was also a charge on my bill for work that the doctor said might have to be done in the future!!! This brought the bill up to $4500.00. I quickly stated that I was not having that work done at present, so Natalie deducted it. However, my bill was still a whopping $1600.00 dollars. That was for the exam, x-rays. cleaning, and 2 fillings. As a retired widow on a fixed income, I must say that such a fee is difficult to manage, but I paid the entire balance, rather than have to pay interest over the course of the next few months. Frankly, I would have walked out if I had not lost a filling from a front tooth. There also seemed to be a great deal of confusion. There was only one dentist on my first visit, so I could not have my filling replaced. I was given two appointments for the following day: 9AM cleaning, and 10AM fillings. When the hygienist completed the cleaning, she said, "I see that your fillings will be done at 11. I quickly protested, and that problem was rectified. When I met with the dentist, who obviously had not even glanced at my health history, she asked the same questions I had been asked the day before. She asked if I had any allergies, and if I take any medication and have any health problems. When I answered "no" to the two latter questions, she just stared at me. I repeated my answer, and she continued to stare, and said "Not even blood pressure?" I told her that I am very healthy and take excellent care of myself. Finally, when she was about to start working on me, she stated that the tooth minus the filling wasn't even listed under the work she was supposed to do!!! I said that that tooth was the reason for my visit! It seems that the dental assistant had recorded the wrong tooth!!! When all was done, she just walked out, and rushed to the next patient. I could mention more, but I am sure you can see why I will not be recommending Aspen Dental to my friends -- maybe my enemies!

If I had a problem with my dentures, he would break out his little dremmle tool and fix it. I think the new dentist, Dr. Burke, wants the title and the pay, but does not want to do any of the work. He will send you to one St. Lukes or another, making you have another bill. Go to the Easton site for an evaluation on your teeth. You're having a problem with your dentures? I don't believe that, can't be them. Go to the Bethlehem site so they can take an x-ray and evaluate. Here's my bill for today. Drive round trips and pay two different places for the second place just to say it's my dentures. I will pay these bills, but also be looking for a new Dentist. I was generous giving 3 stars. Upgraded only because of Heather and Sue - they're great. I'll miss them.
