Let me first start off saying that your color or culture is irrelevant here. The young woman at the counter could not be any sweeter. The staff there was hustling and all customers were treated the same! The food took a minute to come out but that was fine because we were not in a rush. Also, like I said, the place was popping so the staff was hustling. All the food was good. Boris really enjoyed the gravy on the biscuit and he couldn't have been any happier about the crispy-ish bacon. Clara enjoyed the waffle plate as well. I really liked my breakfast because it was cooked the way I like it! The hash browns were crispy! Don't judge the neighborhood, give it a try. You won't be sorry! OVERPRICED! Food is good I will say the shrimp and grits were very good except the portion size you get for the price sucked. The chicken sandwich is a joke, basically cheap bun and a couple chicken tenders, disappointing. I dined in, customer service is not that great, young people work at the front and they didn't say anything when we walked in. We asked them can we sit and that's when they finally said something. It did take some time for the food to come out. Food was amazing, fresh and worth the wait. I noticed breakfast food came out quick so I will try that next time I go. I ordered salmon croquettes with grits, eggs & biscuits. Son had shrimp & grits with waffle. Sistah had the Bokey with grits, bacon, smoked sausage, eggs & French toast. Absolutely no complaints on the food. The service was great our waitress was friendly and helpful. It's a very small place with 3 tables for 4 people and 2 tables that seat 6 people. My only issue is we waited an hour for our food. Very busy place. A lot of take out. But it was most definitely worth the wait. So be patient. read more

Roni's Roni's is a very quaint best kept secret that provides Excellent food, that is consistent and with prices that are affordable! This is one of me and my husband favorite places to eat. The chef's are superb with their attention to detail and the flavor that they put in their food. My favorite is the salad-I mean the best salad that you will find in Florida! Yep! Their chef's make a salad with seasoned grilled chicken, shrimp, bacon (real bacon not bits-I always request the real bacon-and we are not going to talk about the pickles, banana peppers, eggs, green onions, tomato, lord help me-this salad is everything- (Lord if salads could make you fat) I also like their grits, cornbeef hash is cooked just right with the eggs and bacon-this restaurant is everything! The owner is african american and is hands on, he employs students from local high schools to give them a job and opportunity. I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago and it really reminded me back home ! The workers were really nice and they made sure your food is cooked fresh to order. My sister found Roni's on Google, and the solid 4.7 rating gave us enough confidence to make the trip. Turns out 4.7 is not *nearly* enough. That day we were a group of 4 native New Yorkers, now scattered in the Bronx, Las Vegas, and Asheville NC, and we are all serious eaters who get around. We each ordered different dishes and sides, and not a single one was disappointing. Some paraphrased quotes: "This is the best fried chicken I've EVER had. So juicy, and the batter is light and not greasy." -- From my sister, who's a real foodie and knows her stuff. "This is the best shrimp and grits I've ever had." -- From someone who's had a LOT of shrimp & grits and loves them. "The waffles are so light and fluffy! Everything is perfect." -- My picky aunt As for me, I ate a double order of powdered french toast with maple syrup, then snatched one of my aunt's waffles. Hot coffee kept coming. We definitely could have eaten more, if we had enough time. Finally, a note on the service. Miss Betty was our kind and lovely waitress, and she is an absolute treasure. The atmosphere was quiet and clean. The location wasn't part of the mainstream of Sanford, so I would say it's a hidden gem. Parking on street or across the street. I noticed while dining many pickup orders for Door Dash and Uber and many walk ins for takeout. We were grateful to experience the small and quaint southern flavors of Roni's! Our waitress named Nigeria was a young girl who was very attentive to our needs! Before I could finish my cup of coffee, she immediately served me another fresh cup. They even had an assortment of tasty creamers. I enjoyed my order of fried fish and grits. The fish was just like I was hoping with crispy edges! Found this little gem near my home and boy and I grateful. This brings me back to home style cooking back from where I'm from in south Florida. I have been looking for a local spot like this in sanford since I've moved here. I ordered breakfast which lunch looks amazing as well. I had the shrimp, sausage and grits with a side of fried fish. Can you saw amazing!!!! The grits were cooked perfect with melted cheese and the shrimp and sausage was perfect very crispy and flavorful. The fish was crispy and still hot when I returned home. My family ordered waffles and French toast which was bussin! I will say probably should call ahead because they cook everything to order so there will be a wait but trust me it's totally worth it. I really wanted to like this place and make it our go-to cheap eats spot instead of the Asian owned restaurant 2 minutes away. Complete and utter chaos would describe this hole in the wall restaurant. The host was VERY friendly, and the saving grace on the day my family and I purchased to go meals. Although he forgot to place all orders of toast and jam in the bags and he ran after an Uber Eats driver to retrieve part of my order, he was apologetic about the wait and confusion. The female cook seemed to have a major attitude that day, possibly because she was the only one cooking....and boy were they busy! The flavor of the food was good! The chicken was seasoned PERFECTLY! The grits bowl with shrimp was DELICIOUS! I don't care for scrambled eggs, but I ate all of the ones on my plate despite them forgetting to put the cheese I paid for on them. The cinna-soggy mess of a waffle needs to be revamped. It was DISGUSTING!!! Overall, Roni's was a huge let down. Will I give them another try? Unlikely, but if I do, I'm only getting fried chicken and a grits bowl with shrimp. read more

So I'm ALL in when it comes to supporting (Black Owned Businesses) but going forward I probably will not be eating from this place again. This was my first experience at Roni's. I ordered a fish sandwich with fries. The fries were good (which is kinda hard to mess up French fries) but that fish sandwich was horrible! I sort of get it, when I was a kid my family we use to make fish sandwiches with nothing on it in between two slices of plain white bread...but "This is 2020." "Where is the Kaiser roll?" "Where is the creativity?" They could of slap some tomatoes and lettuce on it, but I got nothing! This fish was dry and unseasoned. As black people We Know How 2 Cook!!!
