My husband and I went to Ron's Hamburgers & Chili earlier this week for lunch. The restaurant is known for their "onion fried in the meat." We ordered a chili burger, a cheese burger, onion rings, and mugged root beer. The atmosphere is hometown cafe. They were busy and the service was good considering. The burgers were ok, very thin hamburger patty. And since they offer "chili on everything", we anticipated a flavorful, homemade chili, but it tasted like a canned chili. I've had chili burgers at other restaurants so I anticipated the chili to be inside the burger, not poured over the burger. We felt the cost is slightly higher than ordering a burger meal combo at a traditional, burger restaurant and the drinks are not refillable. We spent $30. compared to $20. My family and I have loved this restaurant BUT the last two encounters have been horrible. Last week we went in there to eat, they were quite busy but we sat at our table for 10 minutes without even being noticed. We were disappointed but understood due to how busy they were. Today, we went back in there since there were only four other table, but just like last week not a word, not even a look from any staff. The burgers here are delicious! I will say that a single burger is more than enough for an adult human to eat, especially if you order the fresh fries with you meal. We ordered 3 burgers ( 2 doubles and a single ) and two fries for 3 adults. We couldn't finish half of our food... Definitely delicious and generous servings. read more

So I hate to do this because we have been eating at this location twice a week for over 10 years but I feel I must. I just got a Togo order, for starters as a chef of 25 years I can tell you that foil wrapping the burgers is the worst possible way. My sons big daddy had steamed so much in my half a mile drive home that the paper lining was in the cheese and the meat. I had to scrape it all off. Use a clam shell Togo box( much better idea) and second, our fries were obviously from earlier because they were cold and gross I had to throw them away, $4 in the trash, it's not a lot of money but it's the principle. My guess is there are some employees in there now that really don't care because in the past this never would of happened. Thank you. Reminds me of an old school diner. The service was fast and friendly. Overall, the food is good for what they are trying to do. I got a double cheese burger with fries. There burgers are very thin which means all the meat is going to be cooked well-done. I am more of a thick burger medium rare type of guy. The fries were fresh cut and tasted excellent. Once again, I refer to the "old school diner" type of food. I did enjoy that the glasses they use are oversized. I down water pretty quickly and that was not a problem here. Definitely a plus for me. This local chain is simply a Tulsa institution. They're locally famous for the Sausage Burger, which is a hamburger that has been mixed in the raw stage with ground sausage. It's ridiculous how good this is. I'm almost certain that when I die, it will be because of this place or the good folks over at Smashburger. And that's a compliment, because I'd go out satisfied and happy. There's also the chili. Good lord, the chili. I prefer it on top of the tater-tots, but let's be honest...you could get a salad with chili dressing at Ron's if you asked for it. I'm not sure how THAT would taste, but I'm willing to bet someone has tried it. If you ever come through Tulsa, you should stop at one of the many locations Ron's has around town.
