I've driven past Rookie's many of times and finally stopped in. The inside was rather large with a big central bar and seating all around. They have tons of tv to watch whatever game is on as well as slot machines. They also have a large outdoor patio right in front of the main entrance. When walking in, the host greeted us and offered a bowl of complimentary popcorn. I absolutely love when bars used to offer popcorn so this was a treat! My husband and I each ordered specials from their happy hour menu: a drink and their $10 Wings Plate. The Wings deal offers 5 bone-in or a 1/2 lb of boneless wings. The Boneless options definitely came with more food so I recommend that one if you visit. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Rookies had a couple of locations in IL but I highly recommend the Hoffman Estates one! Came here with my family to watch a bears game. They have a lot of tvs around the bar so you can watch from many different angles, but service is definitely a bit slow. Towards the end of the game, the waitress hardly came over to our table to check on us. Food was subpar. I think the most notable items on their menu were probably the wings, but their burgers and nachos were very subpar. The cheese that came with the nachos was flavorless and there weren't many toppings. There was just one bathroom in the back area so you'd have to wait occasionally, but the bathroom was clean and very fancy with the decorations. read more

Went to this location to have lunch. When sitting down, there were black specks on the bar top, I went to push them away, and found my hands black with dirt. We asked the bartender to come over and wipe it down, she did, and her rag was black...gross. After a little while after getting our drinks.. wine and water, there were black specks floating in both my wine and water. We changed places at the bar thinking that would solve the problem. The bartender gave me new clean wine and water with napkins to put over the top to protect then from any dirt. Pretty soon the napkins had dirt float on them too. When I wiped the bar with my napkin, it was filthy. we looked up at the ceiling to see if we could see anything. All the pipes, vent covers, and anything else were absolutely filthy dirty. So we wanted to have a fun celebration dinner. We went on a Friday at 6 the place was not too busy yet but was full when we left. We had nachos and pizza. The nachos were good in flavor. There was beans all over the bottom of the tray. That would have liked that as they done like it so they could avoid it lol. Touch Ken did not have any specific flavor, though I probably would've gone with the chili or maybe steak next time. The pizza we chose was the Western pizza. We subbed sausage for the chicken that was so good. It had several different cheeses on it. Plenty of toppings. It was way t much food. We had leftovers. The kids not real complaint is that it was very loud. There was plenty of tvs. As it's a sports bar. Service was great she was attentive to our needs and check back often. My friends and I went for the Bears game. Absolutely great atmosphere and very good food. Beers were very cheap and a very affordable night overall. However, my review Got knocked down when we were leaving the bar. When we were leaving the bar, the manager was a complete asshole. yelled at us for accidentally taking a cup and followed us into the parking lot and told us we were never welcomed back. The same Manager yelled at us. I returned the cup and he was a complete jerk the whole time and told us to never come back. The vibe in here is very much sports bar with tons of tv screens playing different sports games. If you're a Monday night football fan, you'll definitely enjoy especially since the wings are on special Mondays (99 cents/wing). Let me tell you, for 99 cent wings on Mondays, this place is well worth is considering the size of these wings are pretty large. I love that there were quite a few sauce options but the Windy City BBQ was my favorite, followed by the Sweet Chili Thai. We had also tried the Garlic Parmesan and the Teriyaki - I stand by the first two flavors I mentioned. Fries were also crispy and had a good amount of seasoning. My husband ordered a side of French fries for our 7 year old daughter to go. He handed them the credit card thinking they would cost $4.00 maximum and they charged him $7.83! I cannot believe they charged us that much just for a side of fries. If we would have known, we would have ordered a meal that includes fries like the $5.99 1/2 price Gyro sandwich. We asked them to cancel the order and they only refunded us $5.83 and said they charge a $2 inconvenience fee for canceling the order. They just lost a regular customer over $2! The food is typically consistent with good tenders and Italian beef - they also have a very good fish fry or sandwich deal on Fridays during lent. The staff are nice and very attentive. Sadly, today the chef absolutely HAMMERED the chicken tenders. I tried to eat them but they were just bad (the sauce used was wrong as well). We always go to Rookies for the wings. They are really great. But I am not impressed with anything else. Every time I walk in Rookies, the guests and the waitresses all just stare you down. They do not say hi or welcome, they just stare at you until you tell them what you need. This happens every time I go, at least to the Roselle location. I was surprised they had their own long kid menu even though everything was about/almost 10 dollars. We got my son the mini tacos thinking itd at least be ground beef on tortillas. Im not expecting much, thats it. But they are actually some kind of weird meat paste on chips. I recommend you rename them what they are... nachos. Especially if youre going to charge 10 dollars. I also got a milkshake this time, just because I needed a pick-me up. They serve food that goes with a milkshake, I thought who could mess that up. I saw the woman making it behind the bar with ice, milk and heresies syrup. No ice cream. Maybe rename this, the frozen chocolate milk. That is what it tastes like. I know its a "sports bar" but its also a restaurant "grill". For anyone looking for wings, this is the spot. For anything else, think of what you'd expect and then lower that expectation. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, the place was packed they had the mma fight going on. They sat us pretty quick even though they where busy. We order wings and the waitress was super busy but she did great. The wings where cooked perfectly and the hot sauce was very delicious. My dad, my daughter, and I just got home from overdosing on their AMAZING AYCE Friday Fish Fry, and in ally years of Yelping, I've never been more driven to immediately post our experience. She devoured 2 of them, but just couldn't muster the gastric capacity to toss back the third one. She did good, though. But the star of the evening was the fish. HO. LY. SH*T! The fish was sooooo damn good! Huge, fresh, plump pieces of deliciously mild and tender cod, in a very light, airy, and non-greasy batter. You just can NOT beat the value in relation to the quality. And it came with yet another pile of those mild-boggling fries. We washed it all down with a few beers, and I found it difficult to breathe because I ate so much! Our server, Kaitlyn, was so friendly and quick with a smile. Look, this isn't a place you would bring a first date. But by the 2nd date, if she isn't impressed, dump her. She clearly lacks the appreciation of a place like this. And after you gently let her down, head here on a Friday and drown your sorrows in a platter of fish. We've been coming the this establishment for about 5 years and always had a great experience with family and friends but today was not a good one. We spent well over 300.00 and the problem started when we started taking shots. Well I asked for a lemon drop and guess what was served to me not the vodka which is normally used when the drink is prepared. I really did not want to comment and say anything but while I took this shot with the rest of my group I still couldn't help but think what was it cause I know for a fact this was not how my shots are usually prepared. So I just stood quiet while I knew that something just wasn't quite right with this. Well we ordered another round and this time I wanted reassurance from my party that I wasn't crazy on what I was tasting the first go round. Well the shot i got to my surprise it's didn't taste right I had everyone that was with us to taste it to see that maybe it was just me and I don't know what I'm talking about, guess what I was right everyone was like nope it does taste right it just taste like water and I was like look I really didn't want to be one of those people who sends stuff back and to my surprise yet again I was right the drink was not what I wanted. So my husband takes the drink up to the bartender which at first assumed my husband was just making stuff up so she grab the same bottle she used and poured a way bit more in the shot thinking that it would taste better cause guess what she is under thee impression that she is grabbing a bottle of vodka and had it been what she pour would've been exceptional but low and hold guess when I got it boy it still tasted the same (water) and my husband went back to her and informed her could she please taste it. Now cause of trying times we are in a COVID related era she said she can't drink front he same cup so she pour the vodka for herself and after tasting it she could plainly seen that this was just a plain water in a vodka bottle now all the while the two time he had gone up there to inform them not once except for an apology that was given. I can't even imagine a patron ordering something and not saying anything in fear of the order not being made correctly. Hear getting the issue I guess some what resolved cause she did throw the bottle out and hopefully that won't happen again. Our original waitress pretty much gave up on us during our visit. She got us waters and took our order but then completely disappeared on us. Our drinks were sitting at the bar for a good five minutes when out of nowhere the amazing Megan came up, grabbed our drinks and took care of us for the rest of our visit. Megan was an absolute ray of sunshine on one of the cloudiest days. She gave us our drinks, checked on our food and took such good care of my mom and I. Came in on a Saturday afternoon after shopping for a quick bite hoping to catch the end of football games. We sat down at the bar and were greeted by the bartender, Joanna. She seemed very friendly and welcoming. She offered us some menus, and brought us water while we decided on what to drink. We decided on the Saturday special, $5 import draft beer. I decided on a Pacifico and my husband chose Blue moon. The glasses were super cold, which was a plus. We couldn't decide on which appetizer to get, but the bartender suggested we try the shrimp zingers, and they were delicious! Highly reccommend! Overall, our experience was great. I've been here a few times with family and friends and I've brought my nieces here before. There's a tv screen in every direction, a small section to play slots and popcorn available. I usually get burgers here, which I do enjoy and they cook it they way I like. The California burger is my favorite. They usually have burgers and or hotdogs on specials during the sports seasons for like $1-2. I haven't been here in awhile but this time, my fries were over cooked and the wings were dry. I was hoping the Parmesan garlic would be wet but it was a dry rub. My burger was fine though and the service was excellent. We wanted to share the burger and she split the meal into separate plates which was very nice of her to do. We didn't have to wait long to order. The manager does not wear a mask and walks around shaking hands and speaking to customers at the very crowded bar. There is no social distancing. We were given a bowl of popcorn and when we had eaten it the server told me we could refill it from the fully open popcorn machine SELF SERVE!!!!! Are you kidding me! You served me popcorn that anyone in the restaurant could have contaminated. I believe I may call the health department - this restaurant is disgusting and apparently is only concerned with the profits from bar customers and not the healthy and safety of their employees or customers. read more
