Checked out this pretty fun sports bar in Hoffman Estates. It conveniently is located next to a bowling alley and in fact one can walk right into there without going outside. Bar Down is otherwise in an unassuming location. Great place for watching games. The fathers can take their kids to go bowling and they can hang out in here pretending to be parenting and things. Bigger than the average bar. It's located next to Poplar Creek Bowling and there's a passageway between these. There's supposed to be no alcohol consumption over by the lanes but whatever. Has lots of great specials going on. It's got U Call It at happy hour, which is basically like choosing whatever liquor one wants. Has a few more great specials on food. It's $5 to get Pretzel Bites at happy hour. The rest of the menu has nachos and other things. Also they can host banquets. They have catering if having large groups or parties. Bar Down is a fun place to meet friends for a drink, or attend a private event in one of their banquet rooms. The venue is an older building and can use an update, but every time I am here, the service and the food is consistently fresh and tasty. Surprisingly good dishes beyond the normal bar fare too. On our last visit on a Friday night, our server Kevin was friendly and helpful in offering menu suggestions and letting us know about specials. We ordered pizza, wings and sliders off of the Happy Hour Bar Menu. For four drinks (two were non-alcoholic) and several apps, our bill was under $60. Not bad at all and we even had extra food to take home. For events, Amy here often goes above and beyond to ensure a great customer experience. The parking lot gets filled here fast on a busy bowling night, but in all, Bar Down is a fun, local place to hang out and watch a sporting event. read more

Nightly food and drink specials, a happy hour, and it's never packed or too loud. Came in one night to watch a game and now I'm sad the season is ending because I need more reasons to come in. read more

Ok food was bar food good and what you want. The price was good. I had a meatball slider a good flavor but the meatballs kinda fell out and didn't fit well. The st taco. Was good flavor. But served flat that was new not bad just different. The nachos was tasty we had half and couldn't finish it. The service was slow. We didn't sit at a bar. So we didn't get help. This food is so not what you would expect! Because this restaurant is attached to a bowling alley, people expect fried foods/bar food but it is actually amazing! Great variety, large menu and huge space! They have trivia on Tuesday nights and karaoke on Thursday nights also! There's tons of TVs so you won't miss a sporting event and different drink specials. Got some food here while bowling. Have been here in the past and had their pizza. Enjoyed the pizza! This time we ordered bread sticks and chicken quesadillas. A pretty decent looking and clean bar in an attached to a bowling alley however the service here was horrible as were many of the patrons who were drunk bowling and louder obnoxious especially by the gambling portion of the bar. My husband and I have been coming here for years and have always had good experiences with the staff in both the bar and the bowling lanes. We went earlier in the day recently and to our horror we saw the gm in the kitchen cutting vegetables with her hair down and not wearing any gloves. As someone who has a foodservice sanitation certification (which is legally required for someone at bar down to have), it's extremely disgusting to see someone who is so proud of her food show no remorse for not following sanitation guidelines. It makes me wonder what else goes on in that kitchen that we can't see. read more

Went there on a date. They have dart boards and a pool table. The food was good too! I had the chicken philly and a Greek salad that was , fried pickles and the Buffalo chicken sliders. Don't judge. Bar Down is a hidden gem! It's recently renovated, and under new management. They have a large menu, and gorgeous banquet rooms. While it is technically attached to the bowling alley, the bar area is a completely separate area complete with hightop tables, leather couches, and tons of TVs. There is even Giant Jenga, and slot machines for gambling. Definitely try to hit this spot if you are in the area. read more

As someone who sets quite low expectations and standards when it comes to events, I was actually quite disappointed. My family had an a catered event here and we all felt like the catering job was done very unprofessionally. My niece does catering and she was making comments the whole night about how much better everything could've been, considering how much we paid to have our event there. I almost felt like I could've hosted this event better at my home with zero professional experience at all! Rude Bartenders! She was so unhappy with an $8 dollar tip for serving me three beers and an appetizer so she caused a scene, ($30 tab) I should have made her tip a dollar but instead I increased it to a $10 tip to make her happy? Just for that little bit of service she provided which wasn't even that great! I regretted it after I left , so my warning to others is don't give your hard earned money to people who don't appreciate it. I will never go back to this establishment again and I recommend nobody else patronize them until they fire they're rude bartenders. And treat their customers with an ounce of respect! read more

This place is a hidden gem. I hosted a graduation party there. The area we had to ourselves had huge couches, TVs at all point of views. The staff and manager are fantastic and very accommodating to the my parties needs. I would say we were treated more like family than customers. The food is great and the atmosphere was just perfect for our group. They also offer bags games, and casino games. Loved bar down. It's connected to a bowling alley but a ton of tvs with all the packages. Staff was very quick to put on out of town games for me.
