The service was excellent - our server Cassy, gave excellent recommendations that we followed. We never felt rushed to finish or leave. The lobster Mac and cheese is very very good (albeit pricey). Dinner service starts pretty early so keep that in mind if you're looking for a late lunch. It is so nice to be able to sit out side and get a great view of the ocean so I give the atmosphere a 10/10. Service did not match the price tag however. I ordered a standard canned drink at the same time. I ordered my meal and everything came out together which meant I couldn't really enjoy my drink while waiting for my food. My husband and I stopped here on a Friday afternoon for early dinner. We arrived around 4 pm and the restaurant was surprisingly full. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but we opted to sit outside. They maybe need some paper weights or something because menus and napkins were flying every few minutes due to the ocean breeze. For an appetizer we got half dozen of Rooney oysters as our waitress described them as on the larger side and juicier than the others they had for selection. They were juicy but medium sized which makes me wonder how small the other oysters are. We split a fish platter and got the special of the day which was swordfish. Grilled with lemon butter sauce and our two sides were grilled asparagus and grilled Brussels sprouts. Kudos to the chef because he cooked the swordfish to perfection. It was flaky, flavorful, and still juicy. We loved the Brussels sprouts as they had a nice charred flavor. The asparagus was lacking in seasoning though. Overall the food was good but just a little on the pricey side, I imagine that is because you are just a few feet from the beach and get a beautiful view of the ocean. read more

We enjoyed a lovely family meal on Friday night at Rooney's! This was our first time here - the live music was incredible. Service was attentive & (almost too) quick! We shared the shrimp cocktail calamari, fried goat cheese, clams and dancing shrimps for appetizers. The shrimp cocktail was out of this world! We loved the green goddess dressing (but thought our party of 7 should have been given 2 plates of sauces to share). Many of us ordered the fish boards for entree. I loved the yellowfin tuna blackened with chili garlic sauce. The mashed Gouda cauliflower was awesome!! The blueberry smash cocktail was good, but wouldn't likely order it again. The espresso martinis were delicious though! For dessert, we shared the key lime pie, the cremebrule and the warm & saucy - all were amazing. Had the lamb once but it was way too salty. Not your grandma's meatballs are my son's favorite. The lobster is good here too. I was exited to order my food. We ordered fried calamari for appetizers. They were fresh and very good. I ordered crab cakes for my dinner . They brought our food pretty fast. We didn't even finish our appetizer. (Red flag!) When our waiter brought my plate I saw little ammount of finger potatoes, few pieces of asparagus and 2 crab cakes that loked like pre-made frozen from a box. And that cost 49$!!!!! ???? The asparagus were overcooked, potatoes were tasteless, no lemon on the side, very small amount of sause and those crab cakes were horrible! I felt like I was eating wet tasteless paper cooked in the microwave. I didn't even see 1 lump of crab meat! I couldn't eat my dinner. ​When our water asked how was our meal we told him the truth..but all he said was "ohhh I'm sorry.." Then my boyfriend wanted to cheer me up and asked to bring me my favorite lava cake. It wasn't a true lava cake. Just microwaved warmed up a small round chocolate cake. Went to Rooneys for July 4th celebration. Food was Fantastic. Drinks were served with ease and the atmosphere was just perfect. We were a party of 6 and the waitress handled each order with confidence and was very helpful. I had a stuffed artichoke that was so tasty and just the right amount of flavor. It was topped with a scampi sauce, bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Not overwhelming but just enough for you to taste all the ingredients. My husband had the chopped salad that had cranberries, radicchio, blue cheese, candied pecans and a sweet vidalia onion dressing. Very tasty and would order it again. He also had a side order of 1 colossal shrimp that was about 3 inches. Very tasty and tender. My main dish was shrimp fra diavolo. The sauce was a spicy marinara and served on a bed of linguine. Just delicious. My husband had the 14 oz premium pork chop with a bourbon apricot glaze with garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Afterward we glazed st the fireworks. Rooneys is one of my favorite places for lunch. They have a wide variety on their menu so it is perfect for large groups who can't decide on one thing. They also have an excellent selection of seafood. This was my first time trying the sushi menu and it was great! Everything tasted very very fresh and I would definitely recommend the spicy tuna crispy rice appetizer. I wish the sloppy johnny roll had something else in it (maybe cucumber) or a different sauce to give it some more flavor/texture but it was still a solid roll. Rooney's has always been one of our "go to" restaurants for food, ambiance, views and convenience. My favorite appetizer was the stuffed artichoke. While it is still on the menu, it is no longer Stuffed. It is called the stuffed artichoke, but the stuffing is only on the tips of the leaves. Our righteous could see that I was not thrilled, and brought me out a brand new stuffed artichoke. However, this one also had no stuffing in the middle. The artichoke itself was delicious.... They didn't even charge me for it... But that was not the point . I would've happily paid for it if it had been a stuffed artichoke. read more

This place makes you feel like you are instantly on vacation! Rooney's oceanfront restaurant is located directly across the street from a clean, beautiful beach. There are options for outside, partial, inside, and bar seating. All staff are welcoming and friendly. Managers come around to check in your experience. I highly recommend the buratta, baked artichoke, and halibut fish entrée. The cosmopolitan and spicy margarita were both delicious and refreshing. All staff were knowledgeable about the fresh catches of the day and all fish on the menu. Courtney, our waitress was kind, attentive, bubbly, and well versed in all facets of the menu. My husband and I had a double-date here before we headed to the beach last Saturday, and we're so glad our friends recommended this place. Rooney's has their own parking lot that you can park at for 2 hours for free (no beach parking- it is monitored), we sat at a table that was covered but still had a great view of the beach/boardwalk, and I loved that indoor/outdoor feel as it was a perfect beach day. Our server (I forget her name unfortunately) was great and attentive. As for food and drinks- I started with a special, I'm pretty sure it was called the Rooney's Spritz which was refreshing, my husband got the espresso martini and our friend got a bloody Mary (it was large!). The jumbo shrimp cocktail took me about 4 bites to finish so I think it was worth having one each between my husband and I, and the caesar salad was also pretty large and delicious. I split the lobster roll and blackened fish tacos, and though I prefer a butter base for lobster rolls, everything was still really good to great. So good one of my party ordered more for their main! We also loved the clams. My friend had Cesar salads all weekend and said this was hands down the best. Everyone loved their mains, I got the grouper. Cooked to perfection so tasty! Did it on top of risotto (so creamy!) and with the side of mashed cauliflower with Gouda which i am still dreaming about. When the weather is temperate, I have often chosen this restaurant for lunch. It has beautiful oceanfront views. Upon many other occasions, hummus and crackers were brought to the table. On the past few occasions, the hummus was made with a carrot rather than a traditional chickpea base. The waiter said there were no alternatives that could be substituted. I ordered the meatball appetizer and it was delicious; so much so that I forgot to take a photo. In the past I have also enjoyed the blackened fish bites. Most recently I had a flounder filet sandwich & french fries. The fish was flavorful and the french fries were crispy and well seasoned. I usually have red sangria and it has been consistently light and refreshing. As the summer season approaches, this restaurant gets very busy. Under these circumstances, you might not get the table location you desire and the wait staff can become overwhelmed. Location is the biggest draw. read more
