I've been there many times. I love the red Sangria and my favorite food is the Short Rib Nachos. I'm not a fan of using slate as a plate. There is paid parking that is usually full. On more than one occasion, my the waitstaff was slow or nonexistent without asking someone else to have them return to the table. I will chalk it up to being "busy," although I have never been there when the restaurant was full. The number 1 draw is the view. You can sit window side and watch beachgoers, waves, surfers and if you are there at the right time dolphins, whales and or seals. read more

Disappointed. I ordered the linguine with attitude (truthfully-- no attitude) because it lacked flavor, the sauce was just soup. I just tasted overcooked noodles. The clams and shrimp weren't seasoned either. Very disappointed. Same with the risotto, the risotto was cooked well but the shrimp lacked flavor. Couldn't wait to come back after 2 years (we are from out of state) and from the beginning, being seated by the hostess with attitude, I didn't wanna overthink it but we asked for shade and she sat us in the sun. No prob, she took us to a shaded table. Almost immediately after being seated, they came around and started taking down all of the umbrellas. Said a storm was coming. Didn't ask us to move inside, just took away the only umbrella that gave us shade Sat in sun the whole time Server, May, started out ok but needless to say, service went to greatly lacking when I said it didn't look like rain but if it started to look bad could we move inside, I got a look with no answer. Was very uncomfortable. Not sure why. We got our food, much later came our wine (we had to ask for ice twice because it was so hot). Understand that part of what you're paying for here is the view of the ocean while you eat. It was nice to have the shade of an umbrella to enjoy the view. My friend and I ordered the pier salad and salmon entree to share, and our server had both split on separate plates for each of us with sauces and dressings on the side, as requested, which was nice. The salad was light and crisp. The teriyaki for the salmon had a little sweetness and the spicy mayo gave a little kick. We also got a side of bread which could have been a little softer, and warm would've been nice, but it was a good enough vehicle for the olive oil and garlic butter. We ordered the TollHouse cookie pie dessert which was supposed to be ooey gooey and served warm. It was cold and 99% just raw cookie dough. We sent that back. On 19Aug2026, my wife and I had lunch on their outside patio. Ordered a burger, thai chili chicken, a couple of non alcoholic drinks and a large bottle of Saratoga still water. The burger was okay but the chicken was kind of hard to chew. At the end when the check came, we noticed they had added a 3% "non cash transaction fees" which was disappointing and resulted in reduced tip for the server. We wanted to leave a 20% tip for the server, but because of the 3% charge added to our bill, we ended up leaving a 17% tip instead. read more

We attended a family wedding here last week and overall it was a good experience. The ceremony was held outside immediately followed by the reception. The venue is beautiful, located right on the beach. Public paid parking is available all around. The staff was very attentive during the entire reception. The cocktail hour offered some appetizer stations and white glove service apps. Though I wish they had more of a variety. The dinner served was good, but the salmon was covered in too much sauce for me. My husband enjoyed the filet mignon. Stunning view from the patio to the ocean. Waited 30 min and was seated promptly within the prescribed time. From North Jersey/NYC metro so while it was pricey we weren't shied by it. The presentation of everything was great. The flavor was a different story ... Espresso martini was a little vodka heavy, stems still on peppers in calamari, and the flavor profiles of the salmon and short rib felt creative yet lazy all at once. Missing the notes mentioned in the menu. We did also notice a server cursing to herself when she would walk away from tables and other tables asking repeatedly for things. For dinner, I had the scallops with Kalamata olive tapenade and my friend had the roasted cauliflower with pico de gallo, which tasted Indian inspired. So delicious! $170 for one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time. My girlfriend and I both ordered the filet mignon, and I genuinely couldn't believe how flavorless it was. Not just the steak--the entire plate tasted like absolutely nothing. I've had better-tasting meals at chain restaurants for a fraction of the price. For a restaurant charging these kinds of prices, properly seasoning a filet should be the bare minimum. We also ordered the calamari, which was disappointingly chewy and rubbery instead of tender and crispy. The view and location are nice, but a waterfront view can only carry a restaurant so far. When you're spending $170 for dinner for two, the food should be the highlight, not the biggest letdown. We left wondering where the money went because it certainly wasn't reflected in the quality or flavor of the meal. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

I have been coming here for years (mainly during lunch time) but I feel that things have been lacking in recent years. The food isn't bad but the menu can be hit or miss. The fish and chips are quite good for example but the burgers are very average. The view from the dining room is nice though and the outdoor area is a solid spot for a drink. On this particular visit we found that service was lacking, and we found ourselves having to ask several people for things such as ketchup and water. The girls and I got together for brunch. When I arrived I found parking right in front of the restaurant. I walked in and was sat by the hostess. The place had the best view of the shore! Heather was our server, and she was nice. We all ordered different items, and for my meal, I got the shrimp tacos with chips. It looked very good! When I dug in, it was good. I just wish they used flour tortillas. The chips were really tasty. My friend ordered the lobster salad, which was huge. She enjoyed it! She didn't, however, enjoy her watermelon sangria. I think they have it spelled wrong - it is MCLOWNs. I was confronted by an AGM because he was upset I delivered the truth about his attendance to customers vs his attention to customers and his team that was in the weeds during a Star Wars trivia night. I hope he won!! Not only did he confront me in an un-professional manner at my bar seat he chose to do so 10 minutes after the GM left the building - the most cowardly act I can imagine. My wife walked away as it so confrontation and uncomfortable she could not handle it. I will say the team here is amazing - we spent 4 nights a week here - but until he is fired we will not spend a dime here and will do all we can to convince our friends to never spend another dime here again. I think the reality is that because this is a shore town and loyalty and customer experience never hits their p and l - there will be no change expect the absence of our attendance. Maybe it will matter off-season. It is a shame that upper management and ownership allow this to happen, the staff is great and the vibe can be good. The food was good here and the service by our waitress Gerardi was great. The only thing about this restaurant was the noise level. My phone alerted me to loud noise levels. Don't plan to have a romantic evening here. There were 3 large parties at the same time and they were actually yelling to communicate. We got the crab cake starter. It was very good and the bok choy slaw was good with it. I got the swordfish but asked them not to blacken it and it was delicious, seasoned well. My only complaint is it could have used more of that yummy cherry sauce on top. The chili sauce that came with it I could have done without. I liked the grilled pineapple and the rice but wanted more of that cherry sauce that was on top . My sister got the Mediterranean salad with salmon. My cousins held a large family event here last weekend. McLoone's Pier House did a wonderful job accommodating our large group with a sumptuous breakfast / brunch buffet. The layout was perfect for mingling and buffet dining. While our crowd was not a big alcohol drinking crowd, our bartender was very nice and professional. 01/03/2025 Got together with some good friends here... halfway between the our homes. We'd been to McLoones a couple of times (in West Orange too) and always thought the place was ok. Winter in Long Branch is nothing like Summer in Long Branch for obvious reasons, but there's still something special about visiting the Jersey shore and looking at the beach in Winter. Anyway, we came here and happily found out it was Happy Hour! We got a great 'high top' in the bar by the window, watching the few brave souls venture out onto the sand, running into the wind. We however were nice and warm with some excellent drinks, conversation and a couple of bowl games on TV. We started by sharing the mussels fra diavolo and the calamari, both which were very, very good. Then, we had our entrées which everyone loved ... the cobb salad and the pecan crusted salmon were "good" and the short rib pappardelle was "very good". I however, had the McLoone's fillet baguette, which I have to say has to be one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Caramelized onions, bacon jam, brie, sliced cherry peppers on a garlic buttered baguette along with perfectly cooked filet mignon made this sandwich really amazing. (I wasn't counting calories or cholesterol) I really could 'gush' about this sandwich, but it's just a sandwich... although a truly great one. Kudos to the chef! The best thing about McLoone's is the location and the view from where you're eating. For the price, the food is spectacularly subpar. The best thing they offer is the bread which unfortunately no longer comes free with the table. It was thankfully very much worth the $7. We ordered two salads, two pastas and a fillet Mignon. The linguini with clams was not flavorful. The sauce was very watery and the shrimps were very small. The sausage agnolotti was fine but nothing special. The steak was decent in the fillet but added to the salad it was not a bonus. McLoone's is consistently only okay. read more

We wound up dining at McLoone's Pier House, an offshoot of many other McLoone's-branded properties, after seeing its lovely beach views and its prices that were cheaper than its neighboring competitors. We tried to grab seats at their outdoor "Boardwalk Grille", but were informed that the wait was around 2 hours. Upon hearing that tough news, we wound up going inside to try our luck at the bar. Thankfully, we were able to grab two of the last seats, and we were pleasantly greeted by the gracious bartender. He gave us a second to look at the menu and then returned for our beverage orders. I opted for the seasonal Watermelon Sangria, which contained Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower, watermelon puree, and agave nectar. I found the drink very refreshing, but also rather sweet. I felt like maybe the elderflower was unnecessary or could have just been reduced in its percentage. In terms of the food, I had ordered the Sauteed Shrimp entree. When I heard "sauteed", I pictured that the crustaceans would be pan-seared. However, they seemed almost poached and were too underdone for my liking. I simply adored the sweet corn chili, tomato bruschetta, and yellow rice that came with the shrimp, though. The bartender came by to see how we were enjoying our meals, and I just had to tell him about the shrimp. He apologized and said that he would ask the kitchen to refire them. Within 10 minutes, a food runner came by with a replacement plate for me...only it contained mahi mahi (what my friend had ordered) instead. I had to send that back, also, in order to get the correct dish. The shrimp plate reappeared after a few more minutes, but, to my displeasure, the shellfish were still cooked in the exact same fashion. I decided to just eat them, though the denseness of each bite was rather unpleasant. The bartender checked in with me again, and when I mentioned how the shrimp were still not ideal, he explained that the chef had stated that the texture was the way that it was, because the shrimp were cooked in such a way that the sauce baked into them or something like that. I still had no idea why that would make them so rubbery. He also said that he had asked the kitchen staff to try just grilling the shrimp separately and adding them to the dish, which I would have preferred, but clearly they felt otherwise. Again, I still loved the sauce and the accompaniments, but when the protein was unappealing, it threw off the rest of the experience. McLoone's Pier House offered an upscale atmosphere, beautiful views, reasonable prices for the area, and great bar staff. However, the food could have used improvement. read more

It is nestled in the perfect spot right on the beach off of the boardwalk and offers so many food options for seafood lovers and non-seafood eaters. Buffalo wings and calamari were delish.
