Fantastic chicken and even better side dishes. Had the 1/4 chicken bone-in. It was cooked to order so I had to let it cool and start with the side dishes first. The mac and cheese was delicious - creamy, flavorful, and so "cheesey". The biscuit was also excellent especially given that I took it home and ate the next day. My parents were in town visiting and my dad is a huge fried chicken fan. This was on my list of places to take him to. After a morning of sightseeing, they happened to have their food truck right on my street! We ordered the 1/2 bird and the chicken sandwich. We had the biscuit and fried potato chips as the side. I was a little disappointed they didn't have the Mac and cheese. I could barely eat my chicken sandwich. I ordered it buffalo style and it was just too spicy. I love spicy food but this just wasn't enjoyable. The homemade fried chips were no relief either as they were spicy and were all crumbled/crushed. The 1/2 bird we got herb seasoned. While the food is good, the service is not. I went in around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches, and they were out of egg. So while I waited for them to go get more eggs, more people came in and ordered breakfast as well. Once the eggs had arrived, everyone who had ordered after me received their food first. In the end it took me 35 minutes to get my order, and they didn't even apologize. I order here for delivery almost every weekend when I have to work in the city. I love the food, it's delicious and there is a lot of it in a meal size order. Only recently have they began to forget an item in my order, which is a pain since I can't leave the office. If you get your entire order, the food is great! 10/10. Probably my favorite fried chicken in Chicago and one of my favorite places in general. Chicken is made fresh to order and it's very juicy. Great take-out in River West. I didn't notice a difference in food from either location. I really like the spices on the breading and how crispy it is. I usually go with the "Spicy" or "Nashville Hot" Fried Chicken. "Spicy" has good flavor, but not a ton of heat, whereas the "Nashville" had me grabbing milk. I get both when I go back. The sides are good, but I usually stick to the 1/2 Bird by itself. I was in Chicago for the past week and I ran into this spot randomly outside. Coincidentally, I'm from North Carolina so I thought this would definitely be an interesting spot to eat at. I was looking forward to comparing the food here to what it's like back in my hometown in Greesnboro. It's safe to say that it definitely wasn't as southern as I thought it would be, the fried chicken seemed to be rushed in a way, the outer layer was a poor attempt at imitating KFC chicken, but that's not to say that it wasn't tasty. Three times they have messed up my order so I've walked back to have it fixed. WOW! This place is so good. A few girlfriends and I went in on a Saturday night and we ordered half a chicken, the tacos, and all the sides. EVERYTHING was so good. I will definitely be back. Pretty simple here, really enjoyed the food and the ease of the online ordering process. Was completely turned off and disappointed in the preparation and delivery of the food. It was flat out horrible. Started great, ordered online, and food was ready right when I arrived. I checked the receipt to see if all my items were on the list and they were. The bag was stapled twice, shut, and since it was rainy and cold I decided to keep the heat in and not rip open the bag as I left to walk home. Get home and both of my side orders are missing. Obviously I am very frustrated, but I'll chalk that up to my own fault for trusting that the personnel working there could read the clearly outlined receipt with my order. I walk back and was immediately helped (good thing) and provided with my chips and mac and cheese (enclosed in a non-see through lid and foil). So I think, no harm no foul. Whatever, got my food and I'll walk back for the second time. Get home, finally get to eat, turns out instead of Mac and cheese I was given peach cobbler. Food was good, but not good enough to deal with this type of service. I'd like to go back again but unfortunately the convenience of the location of roost does not provide enough incentive for me to return and deal with the lack of customer service I received.
