After reading the mixed reviews we decided to stop and try this place out for two reasons. 1). Richelle and I grew up in Mansfield, Oh 2). It was the only mom and pop bbq place open on Sunday, after we spent time in Madison and Covington looking at antebellum architecture and vampire diaries stuff. I got chicken tenders with gator bites, with a side salad and collard green. Richelle got the chicken tenders with tater tots. Our appetizers were fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms. All the food was good, everything was cooked as expected. Mushrooms were fried so the outside is crispy, which we like. I would have liked a little thicker green tomato slice, the breading was tasty. The make their own tarter sauce, it was fantastic, I'm calling it the best damn tater sauce in Georgia! I have never tasted tarter sauce like that before; dill, mayo, slightly peppery, a hint of smoke...., you can put it on chicken, use it as a dip for your bites or tater tots, I think it's a hit. Pro tip for the late Sunday afternoon crowd: They are going to be out of something, multiple somethings, from what we could tell. I get that, just tell me when I order, telling me after food is put on the table, that part of my order is not available is way too late. Staff was friendly. Service was not quick but also not slow enough to make you wonder when you would get to eat. Fun fact see reason #1 from above, when we shared that with the staff they told use we know about Mansfield ohio, because there is a rooster (a good chain restaurant) there. If you are on a lunch hour, do not go there. I walked across the street from where I work for lunch on Tuesday at about 12:15. It took quite a while to be greeted and given a menu or a drink offered. All I ordered was a chicken salad sandwich and tater tots and a beverage. Well, about 35 minutes went by and was just about to ready to pay for my drink and cancel my order. The chicken smelled like catfish, the chicken was dry and over-fried, meaning they're using old grease and it needs changing. I joked about the food taking so long because it was burnt. The fries were subpar and so was the "had to ask for" sauce. Meal did not come with drinks. The app also only gave us delivery only. The best part of our meal was the cold cokes we bought from a different store. Lots of flies in and out of the kitchen due to their pick up window never closing. This was our first time there! The fried mushrooms were burnt. The shrimp and grits which is something you can only get on Friday's and Saturdays was okay the grits were cold and hard but the shrimp was good. The gator bits were great and the hush puppies were good too. The grilled shrimp was ok kinda chewy. The catfish was a filet that was fried and very good. My son loved the chicken tenders but the French fries were burnt and soggy. We also got the Mac and cheese which was ok and the fried okra was good too. Overall I would give it another try. First, I RARELY give 1 star reviews. Absolutely have to today! Tried to eat here. Just wanted a chicken salad sandwich. Ordered at the window. Went inside and used the restroom. Came back out to the window and the guy told me it's be about 5 minutes. Why, when I'm the only to go order and you just gotta slap it together. Why? Well because the girl (Victoria) who's supposed to be making my sandwich is busy texting on her phone. I watched for about 3 or 4 minutes while she stood there in front of the sand which board texting away. Finally I was like you know what....my time is valuable too. So I asked for my money back and she wanted to know why so I told her. "I'm not gonna stand here and watch you play on your phone while your supposed to be making food" (4 or so tickets had come in that she pulled off the printer before playing on her phone). She says "I was talking to my boss" I said "I do t care who you're talking too you have a customer waiting for food!" She gave me my money back and I left. This is a small business in a small town. Gave this place a second chance after some not so great food. Did an online order, got there 10 min after it said it would be done, and food is still not done..took another 15 minutes or so. The girl at the window told me they're out of something we ordered, so we swap. Get our food, missing all sauces, including the extra sauce I paid for. Ordered a combo, but only got the entree. I can't review the food because after 50 minutes we still never received it. This restaurant has continuously gone down hill with their service since new owners took over. This was our let's give them one more try visit and this was our last time visit. The restaurant was not even 1/4 full and after 50 minutes of ordering our food still never came out.
