Complimentary sourdough bread was immediately served as well as celebratory champagne for my little brother's birthday. We started with the hush puppies appetizer and the French onion dip, which came with a bag of Zappo's potato chips. For dinner, I ordered the four cheese pasta, which I was informed is made in-house and is leaving the menu very soon. My only complaint was the size of the wine pours. When I inquired, they stated the pour was 6 ounces. The kind surprise was a generous top off when they sensed my disappointment. Their kids' menu -which isn't printed - is a little limited. Kids can pick from grilled cheese, chicken skewers, and a hamburger. One kiddo had a hamburger and my son snacked on their shoestring fries. All other adults ordered burgers and everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. One more complimentary surprise showed up near the end of dinner which was a miniature Keylime pie in celebration of my brother's bday. Came here for dinner for our second night in Covington. Not too busy for a Friday night, we were able to walk in and quickly be sat. For drinks we ordered the cloud atlas (off menu) and a vodka gimlet, gimlet was good but a little off balance. Complimentary corn bread was pretty tiny and a bit dry. This place is delightful! Located right in the Covington square the area offers plenty of street parking. The ambiance is so nice! The restaurant is so well decorated. It's versatile and appropriate for a date night or a business dinner. I went on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't too packed. I initially sat at the bar where I had the gin pear cocktail. It was outstanding! Then I sat at the restaurant area where I ordered the catfish with broccolini and sweet potato pure, two of the guests ordered the salmon and loved it and one of the guests ordered the daily special which was the meatloaf and it looked delicious (a bit on the heavier side side) for after dinner drink I had an espresso martini and it did not disappoint. The wait to be seated with no reservations on a weekend was fast but that's the last time they'll be fast. It took well over 15 minutes to be served water and an extra 30 minutes for them to take our order. Seeing as how they were packed, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and ordered something light and easy (Caesar salad) and unfortunately that took even more time to come out. The menu had been reduced to 4 entrees, and he neglected to tell us they were out of 2 of them. Then the server tried to blame us for our "late" 8pm reservation (which the restaurant had given us when we made the reservation over a month ago). So unimpressed with the turn this spot has taken. We weren't walk-ins. You knew to expect us and you had several other parties come in after us. We could excuse away a bad night - it happens and we understand that. The crab dip was really good...nice and cheesy. The drinks were trendy and reasonably priced. I had my first real espresso martini and it was delish! For my meal, I opted for a salad and the potatoes au gratin. Truthfully the potatoes weren't my fave and the salad wasn't as good as it should have been for one made with apples and candied pistachios. I think it was missing a better paired cheese like goat or blue cheese (it came with Parmesan.). My partner had beef tips, which he said was good. Our family also had the meatloaf which was a hit. Came to celebrate my birthday. Both my husband and I ordered the filet. His came out perfect MED RARE however my MED came out as you can see. Server did have the kitchen re make it however then it can't out RARE. After the second time back to the kitchen it was perfect. scallops literally MELT in your mouth. So the first I went to city pharmacy I had their grilled pork chop with mash potatoes and it was amazing so I came back! This round of food really wasn't that great. I had the meatballs that were just okay. I also thought who can mess up pesto and burrata, wellllll. I wasn't impressed at all. I will say the drinks here are really good and so is the mash potatoes. We each started with a glass of wine (the Riesling was great) and decided to share a few of small plates for our meal. We ordered the charcuterie, brussel sprouts, pumpkin gouda soup and a salad. Everything was wonderful, the charcuterie board had a great assortment of meats and cheese along with pickled and / or sweetened items. A bread option for the charcuterie would probably be the only thing I felt I was missing. The soup was hearty and filling and brussels were delicious as well.
