RooterMan diagnosed the issue as a faulty cartridge and quoted me $195. I informed them that I had already installed a new cartridge. They removed it, reinstalled it, and turned the water on and off a few times. I was then told the handle would be tight for a few days but should loosen over time. However, that has not been the case, as the handle has not loosened and remains in the same condition as when I initially installed it. I later called and spoke with dispatch, who stated that Sam was "in trouble" for undercharging. That comment raised additional concerns for me, and it is what ultimately led me to file this complaint. I feel I was overcharged without receiving a proper repair or resolution. read more

We had gotten an estimate to upgrade our heating system had the estimate approved it approved and needed this compan to provide paperwork for insurance company so they could get the money to do the job. They said it would be a couple of weeks because they were going on vacation, which is more than understandable Almost 4 1/2 weeks go by. I heard nothing emailed them. Nothing finally called them. Got a hold of somebody and they said oh yeah the man that does our gas line work no longer works for us and never offered any other service .upset that they said sent an email Rhode Island housing which is who pays them but not have the courtesy to contact me who is their actual customer? My water heater failed on a Saturday. My regular plumber who installed the water heater couldn't respond until Monday (a holiday). The water heater should have been under warranty but my plumber said the manufacturer denied the warranty claim. The plumber then gave me a quote of $4,100 for a new heater and said they could probably install it by Friday. At 6PM on Tuesday, I called Rooterman. They had a technician at my house before 10 AM on Wednesday, gave me a quote of $2,395, and installed the new water heater by 1 PM that day! Incredible customer service and great value. The plumbers came to my house to look at a leak in my radiator. They started off by saying they do their pricing based on hours and material and could not give me a quote I said no way that's how you run into issues and huge unexpected bills. I said my preference would be a fixed price but would except and high low range and if they couldn't do that I would pass on the services and wait for my regular plumber. They said okay we can check all of your radiators fix and parts that look like they will become issues, drain the system and fix the leak for $950. I said I wanted to call my husband and have him agree. I called my husband put him on speaker explained what I heard and confirm this included all parts and labor, they confirmed. ALL parts and labor for the job were included. We would be worry free when they left that all the radiators in our small home would be in great shape. We agreed to move forward with the job as they could start today and as I mentioned we had a leak. As soon as they had my lines drained and system taken apart they started to tell me about issues and how it was an additional cost, I said no way you said ALL parts and Labor were included to get it in good shape so we wouldn't have to worry about problems down the line. Then they started to say that's not what they meant and then started to back track and say they things they pointed out as issues were not actually issues. Talk about SCAM, now here I am in February when we are about to have a snow storm and they have me between a rock and a hard place. They fixed the major issue and got the leak under control , left all my radiator covers put back incorrectly and open, left debris and mud everywhere and water all over my basement. They had their manage call me to basically tell me I was lying about what they quoted us, I told him I would not pay him a dime more the $500 to get my heat up an running and make sure the leak was resolved because they are not doing what they said. Now that they have left and my house is filthy, wet and not put back together I wish I hadn't even agreed to that. read more

I had a really good experience with Rooter-Man when they replaced my water heater. I got 3 bids, and not only was their bid competitive, but they were the only company that actually came to the house to scope out the job in advance. After it was installed, a small but persistent leak appeared at the base of the tank. Mark, the plumbing tech who was handling the job, stayed with it until it was resolved. He came out several times--including on a weekend--to try to find the source of the leak. He was polite and responsive to my calls and texts. I was not charged a dime for any of the follow-up visits. It turned out that there was an issue with water pressure and a small piece of equipment was installed that solved the problem. I am aware of plumbing scams and I am not a gullible person. --Considering the fact that my house was built in 1929, and taking into account all the extra time spent by Mark while he worked on the problem, I don't believe that the additional charge was unreasonable. It would have cost me as much if they had charged for all those interim visits. read more

After calling several, Rooter-Man was the only plumbing firm which could come on short notice to unclog a badly backed up toilet. He showed up on time, and after looking at the clog he wrote up three quotes. The first was the replace the toilet at a cost of $450. The second was to unclog the toilet and add Riddex for the septic system at a cost of $325. Finally, just unclogging the toilet was $250. I knew that was high, but since he was there and the toilet was full of yuck I went with that. The upselling is ridiculous. The toilet clearly didn't need to be replaced. He wanted $80 to dose the system with Riddex. That same product costs less than $15 at Home Depot and is ridiculously easy to use. And simple unclogs typically cost less than $200. read more

They have an answering service who answers the phone every time and says she will have someone call us back but no one ever did. Three days later and still no courtesy of a call. Then I contract the service, he comes to the place and when he was about to start work he tells me that the cost is $ 385.00. Besides this I provided the new faucet. i called this company to remove a vanity and toilet and reinstall the toilet after my floor was tiled. I also wanted them to replace the vanity with a new vanity. When they removed the old vanity they broke or loosened a pipe to the faucet. they wanted almost $3000 for this job. They requested a deposit of $1200 and i later called them to cancel this order as they were excessive in their cost. I called them and advised i would pay for the cost to remove the vanity and cap the pipe that was loosened in the process. I believe they wanted to keep the deposit which i informed them i placed a stop on. I later received a call from Chris. He advised the owner of the company was willing to take $600 to removed the vanity. I feel they are taking advantage of people with their excessive pricing. I called another plumber of i am having the vanity replaced along with the toilet and another toilet installed in a second bathroom for $675. A big difference in price. I feel the $600 charge is excessive for them removing the vanity and i would not recommend this company for any work that needs to be done. read more

DO NOT USE ROOTERMAN! I received a $495 quote to replace the trip waste assembly. The ceiling was already cut out to get at the tub and PVC so the quote seemed excessive. It turns out it was the tub spout. All it needed was to be taken off and plumbers putty put in it to stop a leak. The leak is now gone and it took a few minutes and a $3 jar of plumbers putty. If I hired Rooterman I would have paid $495 and still had a leak. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

I had an appointment this Wednesday with Rooterman. I had found him through HOMEADVISOR .It was on my only day off., Wenesday. Our appointment for 7 AM had been confirmed, and I have the e-mail to prove it. The gentleman calls me at quarter past seven and says he doesn` think he can make it. I question why of course. This is to help my first floor tenant who has 4 children and the back bedrooms have no heat. He goes on about a bit how he deson`t think he can make it at all and I ask him "why? it`s seven o` clock in the morning ...I have to be your first appointment?" During our discussion he informs me that my situation is "actually kinda` tricky and that plumbers get paid on a flat rate" So, I`m starting to get the picture that helping me would take away from other opportunities that he had. So I got up for 7 AM...my tenant got up for 7 AM AND her kids which were on vacation from school, but this guy would not come after we all got ready for him. He them goes on to suggest Jimmy`s plumbing and ttells me he`ll be fair, and he`ll take care of me and whatnot. Then, he texted me his number after he made it clear he wasn`t coming. He gave no difinitive answer why....just scenarios that could apply from time to time. He asked for my tenant`s phone number to call her, but never did. He could have at least apologized for the big time inconveinece. So I call this Jimmy and later in the day he calls me back. He is willing to help, I just need to get back to him for Friday. He says he doesn`t know this company from a hole in the wall and wondered why he was referred? We kinda` thought that being form HOME ADVISOR he`d get a review and he wanted a good one so he gave a name and number of a COMPTITOR! So, i DIDN`T get my first choice based on his reviews, my tenant has to spend Thanksgiving with her family with no heat in the back rooms. He wasted my time. First, brand new carpet covered in waste that was left for me to clean, I will have to hire a professional carpet cleaner to get the stains out! 2, one bathroom left with waste spattered all over the floor, walls and tub, and 3 another bathroom used to dump waste down toilet, the toilet was left covered in waste.
