His girlfriend could hardly walk because she was so sick. They went above and beyond to take care of her and deal with our anxiety of worrying about his girlfriend and finding our way there. They don't deal with insurance because they are a small practice, but give you everything you need to file with your insurance company. I was actually shocked that the bill was only $300! I came here for my first COVID-19 vaccine, and MUSC has the process down. Signs tell you where to…read morego, and the desk is staffed that you don't have to wait to check in. I arrived to my 2:40 PM appointment about five minutes early. As soon as I checked in at the desk, the receptionist directed me into an exam room to get my shot. The nurse, Norine, was upbeat and positive. She asked a few questions- the usual consent to receive the vaccine, and that I had not tested positive for COVID recently or received antibody treatments. Norine said she'd been giving COVID-19 vaccines every day since February, and she was a pro. I barely felt the needle. My second appointment is in three weeks, as I got the Pfizer vaccine. I waited for 15 minutes before leaving, which is standard for COVID-19 shots. There are no magazines in the waiting room, so if you don't want to be on your phone, take a magazine or book. Parking is free in the large lot, and I only spent about 20 minutes total (shot + wait) here. The one side effect I experienced was soreness at the injection site, for about a day. The only thing that could've improved my experience would be a fun band-aid or a sticker, but alas, I got a shot of hope for returning to normal in the future.

He actually listens to his patients and will work with you on medication adjustments if you give him a good reason to make a change. When I was on the verge of pneumonia, he had his office call me 3x during the week following my appointment to check up and make sure I would make my next appt. If he doesn't know the answer to what is ailing you, he will refer you to a specialist; there is no ego involvement just trying to find an answer to your medical condition. Dr. McLaughlin went into this profession for all the right reasons-to make people better. As a medical professional he doesn't even come close -after many years of practice- to being burned out.
