Took my wife's old wedding ring as a surprise for our anniversary. Told them I wanted to repair it and put a new stone in, which I provided. Told them when I needed it, they quoted a very high cost but I was ok with it because it has sentimental value. Also wanted to charge $100 to re-size it, which seemed high. I stressed the importance of getting it done on time, which they said was no problem. A few days before our anniversary, I stopped by and asked about the progress. They couldn't find it and after about 20 minutes of searching, they found it, exactly as I left it, untouched. I said so you have done nothing? The woman started telling me the same sales pitch as when I dropped it off, so I took the ring and left. No apology, nothing. The 2 experiences I have had with Ropers Jewelers have been costly and left me feeling weird. This particular Ropers, is located in North Auburn in the same location as Bel-Air grocery. My husband went in to Ropers to get me some jewelry for Christmas 2021. He came out with a pair of earrings and matching necklace for 299.00. They were "sterling silver". They were feather light. They were drop earrings with no fastening in the back. Within 2 hours of my wearing them, one of the earring was gone. I was lucky to find it, outside in the grass by my work. It had blown off from the wind. I went in to the Ropers near Bel Air supermarket and asked if I could exchange the set for something in the same price range. The employee showed me a few options, one ring i liked was "sterling silver". I asked what stone was in it, she looked at the little tag with price on it, 299.00 and said it was Topaz. Great. I was happy. 4 months later the "topaz" had chipped off. I went back in to Ropers, and the owner was there, as well as the employee who sold me the ring. I showed the ring to them. The owner said I shouldn't be so rough with the ring. Weird...but okay. She went on to tell me that "Tourmaline's" are not a strong stone. I told her that employee said it was Topaz. " Theres no way she told you it was a topaz". My husband said yes she did. The owner was adamant saying that in no way did her employee say it was topaz. I said "okay, so do i have to go about my business wearing a broken up chipped 299.00 ring from Ropers. She said they could replace the stone with another tourmaline. Great! I said. Two months later the owner called and told me id have to pay 150.00 to get the ring back. I paid it, and now i have a silver ring with a tiny piece of tourmaline. I ended up paying 450.00 for a ring i could buy at TJ Maxx for 1/4 the price. I had heard Ropers jewelry stores were a great place to buy jewelry. Nope Save your money, shop online or anywhere but Ropers. (I think the employee looked at the tag, and with no help from any other employees, mistook the tiny writing on the tag "To...." to mean Topaz- not Tourmaline.... read more

My wedding ring is an old family ring and had a broken band, so I took it in to be fixed. They took my ring, examined it, and gave us an estimate for how much it would cost to fix it. There were so many issues with my ring that I was not aware of. They fixed my ring and returned it to me in pristine condition. It looks absolutely beautiful & like new. Jeweler was on-site to look at my ring and fix the areas I was concerned with. The jewelry they have in the store is unique. They did an absolutely fantastic job creating a one of a kind piece that brilliantly set off the center stone. Battery replacement fail and a crappy silver necklace I took my watch here after I first moved to the area and they changed the battery with no issues. A year later, I needed another one, which was weird since the original had lasted literally YEARS. Anyway, that one failed about 6 months in - so I took it back and they replaced that battery free of charge. That one lasted another year, BUT in the process of replacing the battery, the woman who did the work BENT the rod that holds my band in place, which I didn't notice right away, but noticed once the band came loose 2 days later. Fast forward another year, another battery that only lasted 3 months. I'm now looking for someone to repair it. Not sure I'll take it to Roper's. About the necklace - my wedding ring didn't fit and I have to take it to the place I bought it for adjustments. So I looked for a silver chain that I could hang the ring on. I found a nice sterling silver snake chain. 1 week later the clasp attachment to the chain failed and my ring was in my cleavage - thank goodness! I took the necklace back to them and they "fixed" it for me. 1 week after I picked it up, it failed again. I only paid $35.00 for it, but still...I haven't gone back to get it fixed. Very disappointed in this jewelry store. Brought 3 watches in 5 days ago for batteries. Was going to wear one today and it wasn't working. I went back to Ropers. The person who had put the batteries in said I would need to pay $10 for a new battery because it may not be the battery. Or they could send to their other store for repair. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the battery. But would relent in their policy. Very bad customer service! I will not being doing any future business with Roper. I'm updating this review. The other day I left for about 20 minutes to shop and when I returned all three watch batteries were inserted! They wanted to send my expensive watch to another of their stores, and said it would take about 2 weeks for a battery replacement. I didn't feel good about this, so left with my watch. Took rings in for sizing received a call 5 days later they needed to charge $15.00 per ring since they were white gold(which they knew when I dropped them off). Mind you since ny birthday was in July would get a &25.00 off price, so must be why I got the call?!?!? Was told could pick rings up om August 8. Went here to get my girlfriends ring sized the price to do so was reasonable and they told us it'd take about a week next thing we know 2 weeks go by and still no word, my girlfriend called a few times and they wouldn't give us a time on when it would be done and kept telling us they were backed up from the holidays and not only that they were very rude to us over the phone finally my girlfriend wanted back the ring so she could take it to another place and when she went in to get it back they told us they'd move it in front of some other orders to get it done. So finally a couple days later over 3 weeks total now the ring was finally done then a month or so later the bracket that holds the main diamond in came loose and now we're taking it to a different jewelry store to get it fixed. I get that maybe sizing a small ring wasn't a major priority for them to do but don't tell us a week then take almost a month and not update us on what's going on I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

The jewelers here are not only kind and amazing but absolutely wonderful at their job as well. I have gone here on several occasions and been treated with such kindness that it actually brought tears to my eyes. I had brought in a necklace with a loved ones ashes in it that was scratched and damaged from me trying to close it. It was in such bad shape I almost had to throw it out. I was very upset and took the necklace in here as a king shot. These amazing people not only took care of the necklace BUT for free of charge. They also cleaned the necklace, rethreaded the damaged part, removed the ashes as well as and treated it with such care and respect and then refused to take payment. I have gone to multiple jewelers all over the world and I have never ever been treated like this before. I have gone in there on a few occasions since then and they have always been so wonderful and they are honestly just wanting to make people happy! I will go here above any other place just because of how kind these people are. I will also shop here above other places because they really truly care about people and they are not in business to make a quick buck.
