Dear Hubby and I first tried Rori's Artisanal Creamery in Carpinteria several years ago when we were wandering the downtown area. We have also been to their downtown Ventura location, and now this one in Old Town Camarillo. Ice cream and shopping / browsing / strolling definitely go hand in hand. This particular Rori's shares space with Shooby's Chicken & Burgers, and Topa Topa Brewery, which is a brilliant combo of food & beverage places under one roof. After DH and I enjoyed our Shooby's meal, we had to top it off with Rori's. Their Chocolate-Coconut flavor, a non-dairy choice, was creamy and richly chocolatey. High marks for the texture and flavor! The main reason for four stars instead of five is that their "small" portions are very large, with prices to match. The minimum small portion is $9. Especially after a meal, I would prefer the option of a very small amount of iced treat as a finish to dining, not so big that it's almost like another meal! The service was fine. There was a small line and it moved pretty quickly. I was nursing a sore hip, so decided on my order and DH waited to be served, then brought over my "small" cone and his scoop in a cup to where I was seated in between Shooby's and Rori's. I was surprised at the amount of ice cream they provide. The ambiance is Old Town industrial style. Not exactly chic, but not without its charm, either. Rori's is so YUM and I love their unique selection with something for everyone to enjoy! Flavors tend to be on the lighter side but the texture is very creamy. Black Pepper Pistachio: 8/10. Pistachio and black pepper make an incredible combination, and I love that they use real pistachio. I do wish the flavors were more intense (I wasn't getting enough of the black pepper) -- then it would be the perfect scoop. Honey Lavender: 7/10. So creamy and light and refreshing! Once again I'd love if the flavors were stronger, especially the lavender. Like most places in Camarillo, I wish Rori's was open past 8pm. Service is a little slow (in my experience there's usually just one worker behind the counter) but good overall. The prices aren't the cheapest -- one scoop is $9.50 -- but the portion sizes are generous. My husband and I are able to split a single scoop and still leave satisfied and full! read more

He was so excited that he ordered DOUBLE SCOOPS of Brown Sugar Banana and Honey Almond Crunch in a waffle cone! The sweet girl who prepared it was so worried that it would topple over that she gave us a cup to put it in -- but my husband didn't have any problems. Fantastic service nonetheless! The place is super clean with lots of seating inside. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to sit on a bench outside to enjoy our treats. So, so sooooooo good!! Rori's Ice Cream is located within what feels like a food-court style area in Old Town Camarillo, with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. The space is very kid-friendly, and the staff is genuinely kind and welcoming. They offer a great variety of unique ice cream flavors--rich, thick, soft, and full of flavor. Pricing is reasonable for the quality you're getting. I also really appreciated how clean the area was and how well the space is maintained. Parking is a bit limited, but the surrounding area is very walkable, so it's not much of an issue. Overall, a great spot to stop by, especially when exploring Old Town. read more

I got the Honey Almond Crunch and I'm in love. Seriously, one of the best flavors I've ever had. With just enough sweetness this ice cream, is a dream topped off with honey. The malted milk ball was good too, and reminded me of whoppers. The girl behind the counter was friendly and helpful. Only downside is the price, but you do get what you pay for. May want to eat fast because sure enough it melted quick. Once they ice cream got to the waffle cone, the combination of the two were a compliment to each other, glad I got the cone. Texture and flavor change made the ice cream taste better imo. Service was helpful and great. Ambiance was busy as expected but plenty of seats inside and outside in the shared patio. Came in very excited to try a different ice cream spot. The staff was very friendly and helped me out with multiple samples since they have many unique flavors. I tried coffee and salted caramel. Ice cream was very soft and didn't have the ice cream texture I expected. The consistencies were also variable. The coffee was slightly icy, but the salted caramel was nicely creamy. Unfortunately, I felt it was overpriced at $8.50 for a single scoop and was surprised to find my total being $17 for two scoops. This is your typical ice cream that is a bit more expensive but worth the price. A single scoop is around $7, but the scoops are big and the flavors are more unique. I tried black pepper pistachio, which surprisingly worked. It tastes a lot like pistachio but is a teeny bit spicy. I've had spicy ice creams before that were gross. This is not gross. I love ice cream and when I learned of Rori's I made to visit as soon as possible (with my wife after a post date-night dinner ). Let me start of by saying that we wanted sundaes but since we arrived within 30 mins of closing that option wasn't available because all the components of a sundae were put away( at least according to the order taker). So my wife got a scoop of "honey almond crunch " and I got 3 scoops "honey almond crunch", "peanut butter chocolate candy swirls", and "serious dark chocolate". I wanted to taste as many different flavors as possible so that's why I ordered 3 scoops, unfortunately I never got the "serious dark chocolate"...the scooper made a mistake and while I was given 3 scoops, one of them wasn't chocolate. Over all despite the poor to faire service...it's all about the ice cream...in this case, a natural, no preservative, very simple, full of flavor ice cream. You can tell from the first bite it's different from any ice cream from any store or other scoop shops near by. The flavor, creaminess and richness speak for itself. Also, of note without preservatives the ice cream melts fast but something I easily overlooked. I'm definitely coming back so I can get a sundae and maybe I'll be a little more vocal if they get my order wrong. read more

Tucked in a small shared space with pizza on the east end and topa topa beer on the west Rori's is nestled in the middle and packed full of flavors. I ordered the cracked pepper pistachio and was amazing at the balance of flavors with the subtle pepper hint that just balanced the sweetness of the ice cream and salty crunch from the pistachio. Others got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch which didn't have any crunch but had great flavor, the strawberry cream cheese had lovely little bits of graham cracker inside which was a nice texture element. A nice treat with the beer options the pizza and Rori's to round it out this is a great stop to satisfy all! read more

That's what I was left thinking after I devoured my scoop of brown sugar banana and scoop of NY Strawberry Cheesecake. I even tried my wife's honey almond crunch and was left contemplating robbing her of her ice cream. Had I not already had 2 scoops, my wife would have filed a police report for the stolen ice cream as 1 scoop of this deliciousness is not enough. I'm usually not a cone guy but had a hankering for one to relive that childhood fascination with ice cream cones. The cashier informed me the cones were free and that I could throw it on top of my double scoop cup. My eyes lit up, "did you say free?!" I asked in disbelief. Free in a time when gas was nearing $7/gallon. Free in a world where I'm charged for an extra sour cream or extra cheese at restaurants. I couldn't turn down the free cone and I'm glad I didn't. I put some Strawberry Cheescake ice cream in the cone, and "crunch!" my tastebuds erupted like soccer/fútbol stadium during the World Cup when the home team scores, sending messages of euphoria to my brain. My stomach agreed and said "let's do it! Let's get fat! Let's eat all the ice cream flavors!" I will definitely be back next weekend to try another 2 flavors, and a cone. My wife and I have visited multiple locations and have been to this one a couple times. The service we received today really deters us from coming back again. My wife had asked about half and half scoops for the single scoop since we've gotten it at other locations however we received a very snarky and condescending response stating a single scoop is just one scoop. The attitude we received from the person ringing us up really put a damper on an otherwise great night. It's frustrating that the policy is not clear nor consistent across locations. Wow. The flavors here are amazing. I stumbled upon this place while I was at Topa Topa (a brewery in the same building). I wanted to try everything, but after a couple samples I went with a split scoop of the Brown Sugar Banana and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Yum. At "The Mark" in Camarillo between Topa Topa and Fredas pizza. No sigage outside - so easy to miss. After dinner and a beer - this was perfect. This is lushious creamy artisnal ice cream. And yes it cost more than Baskin Robbins- but you get what you pay for. The Lemon Curd was wonderful, bright creamy and refreshing. I also really enjoyed the Honey Almond Crunch, it is very honey forward. And the Vegan special of Orange Chocolate was great! We were able to taste before hand.
