I had to try this ice cream place after a relaxing afternoon at the beach. There were like 40 something flavors of ice cream, but I knew I wanted to try one of their fish cones because they're so cute. Went with the classic yaki (short for taiyaki which are the Japanese fish pastries they use) and it did not disappoint. Great vanilla ice cream. The yaki had more ice cream and chocolate syrup inside. And there were nuts and rolled wafers for the toppings. Delish. Service was fast even with a small line. They have multiple cashiers, which is helpful. There are also a couple of servers who bring out the orders, so it was just super efficient. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. Health Dept. or management needs to have a serious conversation about sanitation. If your workers are going to wear gloves to appear to be sanitary--using the SAME gloves to handle money and then turn around and handle your FOOD--this is disgusting!!! It completely defeats the purpose of wearing gloves in the first place and creates a major cross-contamination issue. It's basic food safety to change gloves between tasks, especially when handling cash. Watching this happen makes it hard to trust anything coming out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, because of this, I won't be returning unless there are clear improvements in their hygiene practices. read more

I got the fish with Nutella and match. The match wasn't very green tea flavor which was disappointing. Had to wait a while for them to make the fish. Friend got the cotton candy and liked it. I tried it and it was super sweet. Might try again. read more

When you walk in, you are greeted right away. The vegan options are good. They are tasty. It's like having soft serve big stick. Awesome flavor profiles. The inside is spacious, and you could enjoy your dessert there or outside with the nice scenic surroundings. The ice cream is good too! I like coastal cone for their sorbet. My niece likes them for literally everything else because according to her 'they have so much good stuff'. Service is always friendly and never rushed. They offer samples but I always get one of their sorbets. Ample parking in a large lot (free only on some days and not the weekends), they are facing the harbor and not the parking lot so you have to walk in to see them. read more

After trying the hot fish with the cream from coastal cone... I am obsessed. Everytime I go to the harbor I have to stop and get an order. They are so good and fresh off the press. You almost have to wait a few because they are so hot. The cream on the inside is delicious. The ice cream always looks good as well. But I like these too much to get anything else. what a lovely place to grab ice cream and walk alonside the harbor. there are so many flavors offered. the staff were really accommodating -- I wanted the ube-matcha remix soft serve and they ran out but they offered the ube soft serve atop the matcha ice cream, which we got with the fish cone ($9.50). loved the fish cone itself -- it was crispy outside and chewy inside. freshly made, it contrasted well with the ice cream. the ube was strong and the texture was good. the matcha was kind of light in color and more icy than creamy but still tasted of matcha. would visit again! read more

Coastal Cone is a great spot for ice cream cones and sundaes in the Ventura harbor. I definitely understand its popularity, with only so many super kid free options for dining and snacks in the harbor, it's a treat I'm sure many kids look forward to when they come. I mean who doesn't love a good ice cream shop? Always delicious smells coming from this spot as they bake their famous fish ice cream cones. Cute decor and signage makes this place inviting. Since I'm not a huge sweets fan, you'll never catch me coming here when there is a long line lol. Which sometimes there is. However, I've wondered in a few times off speak hours when there were no lines and I could grab a quick bite. I'm one of those people who really has to be in the mood for ice cream. So I've only been here like 3 times in the last 10 years. Upon my most recent visit last week, I came in on a dreary day and there were almost no customers. Staff were friendly but nothing over the top or memorable. They got me in and out which is A-okay on my books. I opted for the pineapple coconut ice cream and it hit the spot. Delicious. Also I will give them credit for it only being one scoop they did load it pretty big. Mainly the reason for my one star just comes down to pricing. Almost $7 for a one scoop cone. To me it's not worth the price but yes, when having a random craving it's fine. But for a family of 5 that's as much as dining in somewhere for a simple ice cream. Idk how people afford it. All of that to say, coastal cone is great for the community, good ice cream, just a bit too pricey for them to be on my regular rotation. read more

On busy weekends, there are long lines. But it goes quick and they are very well organized on how they handle crowds. Ordered a pineapple float and triple seas drink! Yummy!! Great view. Bring back the matcha soft serve or at least update the signage to reflect that flavor is no longer available. Went to get matcha soft serve and I was given a scoop of matcha ice cream which doesn't compare. The staff were nice and offered me a different scoop, which I took, but the ice cream was a weird consistency and partial melted already. Staff said a lot of flavors are off the menu that still show on signage. Everytime we come to Ventura harbor, we have to come to coastal cone. Everything slaps! The crew is always friendly. There is patio seating with a nice view of the harbor. I usually order one of their signature fish cones. Today I ordered a classic fudge sundae. It was $14. Located right next to the water, Coastal Cone has long been a staple at the Ventura Harbor. It's a great treat to enjoy while walking around. It's also right across the street from the beach, so a quick hop to grab a sweet treat while sitting in the sun. Their menu is so fun and filled with so many different choices that you'd be hard-pressed to not find something you'd like. Their Ube Island was delicious - generous portion of Ube soft serve with Oreo crumbles. A great combination of soft ice cream with the crunchy Oreos. They can definitely get busy here, but they're like a well-oiled machine inside - very efficient with lots of different lines open. It's worth the wait. read more

I love this little ice cream shop within the Ventura Harbor! It's adorable and very Instagram worthy, but I do wish they had more vegan options-- especially for the cones. I can no longer do dairy and not being able to get my sorbet in a fish was just so sad!!!! I did like what I ended up with, which was a mango sorbet in a cup, but it was pricey being a kids cup and one scoop in a very small size for over seven dollars. I did take a little tiki skewer and add it to my cone because I thought it was so cute and since it's the holidays at the harbor, it matched nicely with the festively lit up trees. read more

Great experience! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the employees. They told us the fish cone would take about five minutes to make and it was absolutely delicious. It was warm and had Nutella inside. The ice cream was creamy and had a great texture. Not pictured was the Oreo Tsunami Milkshake which was thick and had a good amount of Oreos in there. This is a very popular spot at the harbor. Be prepared to wait forever for your selection as it is always crowded. Not a spot that I have to go to necessarily but plenty of ice cream selections. Not a very sit down friendly place. They kindly ask you to wait outside for your name to be called to get your selection. There are seats on the inside, but I don't know who's lucky enough to be able to sit down in those. Good luck. read more

Stopped by Coastal Cone while wandering around Ventura and decided to try their Ubeyaki -- and wow, it did not disappoint. It's basically a warm, fish-shaped waffle (like taiyaki) filled with ube soft serve, and the combo was SO good. The ube was creamy and just sweet enough, and the waffle was soft on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside. Super satisfying. The shop itself is cute, right by the pier, and they have a ton of fun soft serve flavors. But honestly, the Ubeyaki alone is worth the visit. I have been to the harbor a few times and have seen this place over the past few years but have never stopped to try it. With Top Chocolate gone and the also the Pastry shop; this really is the only sweet treat shop in the harbor now. There is always a line and you wait on the back patio for your order. I got the C4 Ubeyaki and my sister got the C2 Oreoyaki. The are one scoop of ice cream with a Yaki fish on top. The fish is made of a semi-soft waffle with warm Nutella inside. They were good. I feel that at least for the price, you are getting a fancy and delicious treat. read more

Stopped in on a drizzly Saturday and initially had the place to ourselves - Dear Hubby, our 5 year old granddaughter (with a sweet tooth), and me. As there is often a line, it was surprising to walk right up to the counter! The team member who took care of us was right on it with offering samples. They do have some sorbets / ice flavors that are non-dairy, so I was able to order something along with my companions. It would be nice to have options for vegan-style creamy flavors, like some places have, but I did enjoy the Watermelon Ice choice. Sweet Granddaughter tried a few samples and settled on Chocolate Chip. DH had the Cappuccino Chip. Both were happy with their choices. Actually, SG liked my watermelon and ate about 1/4 of it. The interior of the shop is brightly colored with a happy decorating style. The two young people working that afternoon got a rush after we had received our order, so their quiet time was over. We've made so many visits to coastal cone when visiting Ventura Harbor Village over the years. It used to be just a plain ice cream shop. Now it's new and improved . We're only in town every so often nowadays but of course, can't resist ice cream when walking along the harbour. I don't know when the new owners took over, but the whole place now is much better than it was before. Basically the new menu just has all different kinds of Sundae options. I was much more excited to order this time around because a Sundae is special. If you want cone, they have some great cone options that make it not just a plain ice cream cone. Superb!!!! read more

Cute spot near the beach for a sweet treat! Perf to get something here and walk around the shops and enjoy the nice weather/view! My cousin got an ube milkshake and a matchayaki. Both were super sweet, so definitely a sugar bomb. The matchayaki didn't really taste like matcha, as the nutella and oreo bits overpowered the taste. I still liked it, but I wouldn't wait if there was a long line. Luckily, service was fast and we got our order in about 5-7 minutes. Worth a try if you're in the area and craving dessert! read more

Very decadent... eats more like a "meal" than a "dessert" ... so maybe skip the tacos and head straight for this ice cream shop! Keep in mind, this is definitely a splurge spot, as it was almost $30 for two items (including tip). However, If you don't mind spending a little more on a fun ice cream treat, this is your shop! YUMMY but a little bit of a gimmick i would say. It is a dressed up, pricier thrifty ice cream scoop (rite-aid brand). It was ~$12 for a scoop of ice cream with taiyaki. The taiyaki is quite yummy and mochi-like though. I will say the service was quite good considering the amount of people that were in line. The location is also quite adorable as it is on the water. I just felt a little scammed discovering what it was. Three of us ordered the fish zookies and one of us ordered just the sundae which was essentially the same exact thing as the fish zookies without the taiyaki but same price. i added photos for observation. read more

I recently visited coastal cone while taking a mini vacation to ventura. They are an ice cream shop serving many different types of ice cream, including soft-serve and was blown away by the experience. The service was superb, with a friendly staff serving up a versatile and extensive menu of flavors, including some exotic options. I tried the ube and matcha swirl, which was absolutely divine. This place is a a trip, and way too much on the menu so prepare to take your time. The ambiance is fun but small, it doesn't need to be big, this is a place to grab a cone and then walk the harbor. The service is always great, everyone is friendly and they're always willing to answer any questions. The ice cream is delicious, smooth, and always hits the spot! My favorite item on the menu however is the taiyaki with Nutella! So delicious! I love how it's warm and filling and good all on its own without ice cream. Nice location as it's right on the water (harbor). They can be crowded and their system feels a little forced to do it right or you get in trouble feeling. They have a large variety and also have some yummy alternatives to ice cream. Service is a lot of young kids but most of them were nice. I do recommend this place. read more

A while back I read a Mister Softee review by my Yelp friend Gina. She had rented the truck for a family party and wrote about how great the experience was. That's where I got the idea. But instead of a family party, I thought it would be fun to have a party for all the kids on our street. Our street is filled with kids! I mean, the street is only like two blocks long, but there are well over twenty kids. They're out there every day, riding bikes, shooting hoops, running around without a care in the world. Good times! My Wife designed and printed up invitations, then went door to door up and down the street to personally invite everyone. She already knows pretty much everyone, so the Parents were cool with the idea. So today was the big day. I was super excited when the Mister Softee Truck pulled up and parked right in front of my house. And then the driver turned on the music. Aw yeahhhh! And that's when the kids started coming. Big kids, little kids, Parents carrying kids, so many kids. A small line formed. It was a trip watching what the kids ordered. They got to pick whatever they wanted from the menu. They could pick a Cone, a Sundae, a Shake, Ice Cream Sandwich, even a Banana Split. It cracked me up how many ordered a small cone. I mean, not even dipped. Just a plain old small cone. Such a sensible order! I loved it!!!! One little guy ordered a Root Beer Float. I was like, that would've been my order at his age too. I like how the Mister Softee Truck serves their Root Beer Floats: they give you the rest of the can of Root Beer they use to make the float. A couple kids needed a non-dairy alternative, and I was relieved that the Mister Softee Truck had some attractive options like Sno Cones or colorful frozen ice treats. Most of the kids enjoyed their treat right there next to the truck. Parents took photos of their kids and kids chased ice cream drips down their arms with their tongues, as kids do. All of the kids and their parents were super appreciative and thanked my wife and I for the party. We thanked them for coming. There were clearly a lot of happy kids on our street today, but I don't think any could've been happier than me. Thank you to my neighbors, and all the neighborhood kids Thank you Mister Softee! Was in the area for Memorial Day weekend and just happened across this hidden gem. The weather was perfect for some ice cream and I feel very fortunate this was the closest option. The location itself is subtle but with fun theming inside. Gives more to look at while you scan the MULTIPLE option on their menu. And if you can see the attached pictures...just looking over the menu will take some time! The inside line looked lengthy but I randomly saw a side service window. Unsure if they were serving approached and was immediately greeted by a staff member who happily walked me through the menu. Luckily I decided on my old child hood favorite Chocolate Malt ball Crunch...it was just as tasty as I remember! If in the area and feeling like some ice cream, I highly recommend this spot! We were looking for a dessert place on yelp and came across Coastal Cone's pictures. It looked so good so my family and I decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. Not only do they have the Dole Whip soft serve here, they also have UBE SOFT SERVE!! Needless to say I got the Ube soft serve ice cream and it was DELICIOUS!!!! It's rare to find Ice Cream parlor that does Ube soft serve and while we were in town we were glad to find it here at Coastal Cone. Coastal staffs are always nice and friendly. We went there at night so the long road to that shopping center is really dark but you come up to this beautiful place by the water. I don't live near here but I will for sure be supporting this local mom and pop shop! read more

I recently visited Coastal Cone with my girlfriend and had an absolutely delightful experience. Although the menu was a bit overwhelming with so many amazing options, we finally decided on a few solid choices. We ended up getting a Nutella-filled Zookie, matcha ice cream with Oreo dust, another fish Zookie, and a birthday cake option with a fish Zookie and some type of custard spread on the inside. Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing. Even though I'm not typically a dessert person, I really loved the ambiance and the quality of the desserts.
