Brown Sugar Banana + NY Strawberry Cheesecake
    Angela R.

Rori's is my go to when I'm craving ice cream. Yes, it's on the pricier side but the quality, portions and flavors match the price point. Plus the ice cream is made with real ingredients as opposed to artificial. My favorite flavors here are brown sugar banana and now the strawberry cheesecake. I loved the little chunks of cheesecake and the strawberry flavor was so good! Not too sweet. A great combo and you can split the flavors if ordering a single scoop. I normally go to the one in Santa Barbara at the Public Market, but this location is a smaller space with no seating or A/C inside. There are tables outside though and you get a nice view of the Main Street. I definitely recommend giving them a try!

Oh Rori's. Nestled in a tiny shop, sharing space with a great Mexican restaurant. You are a gem! It's a little tight inside with people when it's busy but it's worth it. The ice cream is hard to beat and their scoop sizes are pretty large and generous. They have a great option for the kids with unlimited toppings. Mind blown! It's also an easy walk up from the beach, totally worth it.

It was my first time at the Carpinteria location. It's smaller than the one in my hometown of Ventura. Inside the shop your order what you want and then there are picnic style tables outside if you want to sit. They are also walking distance to the beach so I imagine that would be an enjoyable option on a warm day, which thankfully we have a lot of in Souther California. Today, I was drawn in by the Hot Chocolate and Ice Cream offering. Think Affogato. The service was excellent. She was very attentive to the smallest details. I decided to pair my hot chocolate with the Honey Lavender ice cream and it was a dream. So creamy and delicious. As a topping I had the cobbler crumble on the side. I enjoyed it outside as the sun was setting. Two recommendations I have is making sure the ice cream to hot chocolate ratio is balanced because once the ice cream that wasn't melted is consumed you are left with a less than full cup of hot chocolate, and the unmelted ice cream was at best 5 spoonfuls. Also, if there is a way to not use a microwave that would elevate the experience. For myself even though I enjoyed the new offering, I don't know if I would order again because of that. Just a thought. Overall, I love Rory's. The flavors of ice cream are delicious and unique. Some of my favorites are the Honey Lavender, Lemon Curd and the Passionfruit.

After a beach day, we were craving something sweet before heading back to Santa Clarita -- and wow, this spot delivered and then some. Honestly... this place might've ruined ice cream for me anywhere else I tried the Honey Almond Crunch and their Star-Spangled Banner July special, and both were absolutely incredible. The ice cream is so creamy, rich, and flavorful -- you can tell they don't skimp on quality. The jam in the Star-Spangled Banner was perfectly sweet and swirled throughout the scoop, while the Honey Almond Crunch was smooth, nutty, and delicious. The portions are huge -- one regular scoop was more than enough (I couldn't even finish!). I also loved how kind and attentive the staff were. They offered to keep my pints in their freezer while we enjoyed our cones outside -- such a thoughtful touch. And yes... I definitely took a couple pints home with me. If you're in the area or just wrapping up a day at the beach, this place is a must. Creamy indulgent perfection. Can't wait to come back!

Delicious ice cream, friendly staff, GENEROUS scoop sizes. I didn't take a picture of my ice cream because I devoured it instantly... forgive me! Anyways this place has some delicious and unique ice cream flavors (like the black pepper pistachio which was great). The fresh mint patty was like no ice cream flavor I've had. Not like a normal mint ice cream, it really did taste like fresh mint. You can sample as much as you want to try them out! The single scoop is incredibly big. The itty bitty size was the perfect amount to satisfy your craving and feeling happy :). They also do split flavors if you are like me and can't decide. The shop itself is small with no inside seating but they have a couple picnic tables outside to use. Both inside and outside the shop are clean and well kept! OH and you can get a free dog ice cream with a purchase! It's a nice touch.

After lunch, we walked across the street to Rori's to satisfy our sweet craving! The spot is pretty tiny when you walk in, not a lot of people can be inside all at once. We were served pretty quickly and the gal was friendly. We got to try 3 samples (the max per person) and then decided on the strawberry cheesecake and pistachio ice cream! The cone was perfection and had a great fresh taste. The ice cream was creamy and hit the spot for us.

This place is your average, delicious ice cream spot. But it's so pricey! We walked in around 3:00 on a weekday, it was nice and empty. The worker who was scooping for us was helpful, but her replies were snappy and impatient. The ice cream is a bit on the expensive si, so we both got kids cups, and they served a substantial amount of ice cream. There are only 3 dairy free options. The inside does not have a lot of seating but the outside has benches and chairs to sit and enjoy. After we ordered, our ice cream was served in a quick fashion, we paid and left. The ice cream was delicious! Very creamy and rich. A bit more milk-y and soft than average, which I enjoyed. Service was neither amazing nor horrible, and the ice cream was delicious. Expect an average but tasty experience.

Wife went for the Crimson Horizon, and she enjoued it. I got a sip and it was smoother butterier than the Firestone cali squeeze? I tried the Avocado Honey Ale since can't go wrong with description of amber honey ale! Was told it was a version of their kolsch with local honey. Wow, it was smooth with a bit of sweet finish, so addictive!!! Still had hours to drive so couldn't just have as many as I wanted, but I checked online and seemed Albertsons sold it so figured I can just pick them up back at home. But the gentleman resting at the bar told me he delivers their beer but only up to the hills. I guess maybe available in stores up to Camarillo, but not over that hill/mountain. I had to have more of it, and they had 6 packs in the cooler for purchase so went for a pack. The green cans are such delightful vessels to hold the even more delightful liquid inside. Wife even cut out the top and using the cute cans as planters, lol! The cans poured out at home was excellent as well, very fresh and refreshing and could get tiny hints of avocado on sips. Just a great beer! After browsing the brewery, it seems avocado honey ale is their signature beer, so I got lucky to choose that from the menu, lol. While enjoying the beer, the amtrak train blew it's horn to leave from the Carpinteria station, so we rushed out to wave and enjoy seeing that go by right in front as well. I am sure the locals were shaking their heads at our excitement of seeing the train go by, one gentleman when leaving even complimented my kid's dance moves from when we were out there to greet and send off the train, lol! Awesome local spot and great folks, just a very relaxing spot to enjoy the delicious avo honey ale! Just hidden so maybe not many visitors to Carpinteria find it, but I picked it out from search for brewery and chose this over the other one on the main streets. What a find for an out of towner! Hope they can expand out or grow their delivery area, maybe get it sent to total wine which must have a distribution center. Otherwise, this is a must stop for any SB trips for sure!

However, my experience was disappointing. The two girls in the shop were almost asleep. One was barely conscious, the other was trying to make up for her. The chocolates looked very interesting, but they were rather dull-looking and often hard to differentiate because the display case had no lights. Add to this the already dim lighting of the store and that it was an overcast day outside, and it felt like trying to buy chocolates in an old library. As for the chocolates themselves, they did not taste like French/European chocolates at all; they had the very standard American chocolate taste-that is, Hershey-like and with no deep resounding real cacao flavor that is like bass from a speaker on your tongue. That's what real European chocolate tastes like. This was just sugar, sugar, sugar, and cute designs. Maybe they are using cheaper American ingredients rather than importing higher quality ones? No point in having the Eiffel Tower on your logo if you wouldn't be able to keep this store open in France. But the best part: the girl at the counter didn't let me try anything other than the three pre-selected types of bon bons on the sample tray! How cheap can you get? I've never had any chocolatier deny a sample of a simple truffle, especially not one with the gall to charge $3 per chocolate in a tiny town like Carp! $35 for a dozen, just to not even be able to try what you are putting in the box? You must be joking. Anyways, onto trying to find another good chocolatier in the 805...
