Sea bass with baked potato (in a uniquely crispy skin).
    M. S.

Enjoyed a generous portion of super fresh, local wild caught sea bass. It was served with a tasty tartar sauce. The baked potato is unique--as if they skin it and fry or air fry it. The clam chowder was my least favorite component of the meal; it tasted a little like it contained chicken broth and was pretty thick with not enough vegetable. Still, I ate it! I took the remarkably delectable chocolate walnut pie to go. Wow! Personally, I would like to see the décor freshened up a bit, though I like the old school vibe, the furniture feels worn. Service was friendly and attentive. This was my second time here--the first having been about 10 years back. I don't even eat steak, but they offered four kinds of fish on the chalkboard. And again, the sea bass was splendid. Recommended, especially for patrons who enjoy a low-key, authentically retro vibe and simple, honest homemade food.

The only restaurant open on Thanksgiving and they were still able to seat us. It was amazing and so was our waiter. Totally recommend a visit!

I was in the area and wanted to find a local spot and this was a great find. Locally owned over 40 years. Hous made and fresh food. Pie is sincluded with every dinner. You get rolls, salad, your giant dinner entre and a slice of over 10 different homemade pies to choose from. Friendly place, No waiting, great food and a good price. You will have food left over for at least two more meals. I was already quite full before my entree ever came. One dinner can defenitely feed two people. The inside has a definite home feel to it. Ifelt like I walked into someones home. Support local and give this place a try. Bring your appetitte and loose pants.

Red Snapper with rice pilaf. My husband said it was the best pilaf he had ever had.

We camp in Carpinteria every Fall and have always wanted to try this place. Finally had a chance last night and it didn't disappoint. The outside of the building looks very run down, so don't let that put you off. The food is absolutely delicious and the service by Esther was the best. She was so nice. We were told they had fabulous steaks, but we opted for their fish. My husband had the red snapper with rice pilaf and a bowl of clam chowder. Pie also comes with the meal and he had coconut creme. I had Sea Bass that was cooked to perfection with zucchini as my side. Had a bowl of delicious split pea soup and my pie choice was cherry. We took the pies back to our trailer. So much food and it was all really, really good. We will definitely come back here our next trip to this area.

The restaurant was busy, with tables pretty much full both inside and outside, but luckily we were able to get seated without a wait. I ordered the fish tacos, my son had the linguini pomodoro, and my wife ordered the cioppino. Everything was delicious. The seafood tasted incredibly fresh, and the fish in the cioppino was so tender it practically melted in your mouth. The broth was rich and savory--maybe a little on the salty side, but we still really enjoyed it. The service was another highlight. Everyone was kind, friendly, and welcoming, and you could tell the staff was working hard to make sure everyone had a good experience. I also really liked how diverse the menu is. There are plenty of choices for different tastes, whether you're in the mood for seafood, pasta, tacos, or something else. Overall, this was an awesome first experience and a great discovery during our trip to Carpinteria. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town, and we're looking forward to trying more dishes from the menu!

Unfortunately, after giving Teddy's by the Sea multiple chances, the problems have become too consistent to overlook. We've had repeated issues with online orders--food mixed up or not prepared the way we ordered it. On one occasion, we even found a piece of plastic in our lobster mac and cheese. But the most frustrating issue has been the completely inconsistent closing time. They advertise that they're open until 8:30 PM, yet we've shown up as early as 7:40 PM and been told they're already closed. This hasn't happened just once--it's happened to us multiple times. We really used to enjoy coming here, but between the order mistakes, the plastic in the food, and never knowing whether they'll actually be open during their posted hours, we've finally given up. If you advertise that you're open until 8:30, customers should reasonably be able to expect you to be open at 7:40.

Iberian pork chop- shut the front door this was a good chop, a few more veg would be nice, overall the mustard sauce and the cook on this was delightful. Alaska Halibut special- that's some juicy fish you gotta there!! The dill sauce absolutely sublime! Banana and walnut Bread pudding- so we ordered dessert ONLY because dinner was so good and whomp whomp it was awful- overall dry and sweet. My guy had said based on the dessert menu which is everything restaurants without a pastry chef have on ten menu ie bread pudding, crisp, ice cream and something chocolate we shouldn't have done it, eat savory here and go somewhere else for dessert. Service was great, and we were there early before the Saturday night crowd, it was airy and calm, overall enjoyable.

Jennifer was our server on a holiday weekend and she catered to the local crowd and tourists alike as if each of us were her only table. She apologized for the wait but there was no need because we had a great experience. I can't believe we had not visited the Nugget until now because we love the quiet beach across the road. After our beach walk we were looking for some drinks and an early meal to keep the beautiful day going. We ordered the full rack of ribs and tri tip French dip to accompany hubby's cold beers and my tall pomegranate spritz. Both meals were so flavorful and the ribs were so tender they fell off the ribs. My tri tip with au jus was also well seasoned and prepared. For our sides, we had salads which were equally fresh & well dressed and hubby enjoyed the crispy and cheat-worthy onion rings. I definitely understand why the Nugget is a favorite local spot and a great stop-over along Hwy 101 between Ventura and Santa Barbara.
