A true gem of an ice cream shop with a ton of flavors. We ended up choosing the black pepper pistachio and the brown sugar banana and wow both were so good! The brown sugar banana tasted like a frozen banana, and the black pepper pistachio reminded me of a pistachio gelato. Even though it says black pepper, it's not spicy, the black pepper brings out more of the undertones of the pistachio. I would definitely come here again next time I'm in town! read more

The staff was really friendly the second we walked in and I love the selection of flavors they have! I wish I could be around longer because there's so many flavors I wanted to try! I had just gone on a hike nearby so I was feeling for a shake although ice cream sounded good too. I got some toppings with my shake which went great and my malt shake was delicious! I wish I could get more because it just hit the spot on a warm day after a hike. One thing I do wish would be for the straws to be a bit bigger/wider. But other than that, I need to come back to this ice cream shop. Someone needs to come with me to hold me back from ordering too much from this place. Excellent ice cream! Subtle, creamy, delicious! No artificial or synthetic flavor, and not overly sweet. Just right! I usually can't have a whole scoop of ice cream because it starts feeling too sugary but I happily had one nice big scoop of the black pepper pistachio and couldn't stop raving about it. It was one of many unique flavors they seem to be serving look forward to trying more soon. We discovered Rori's after having Bettina's, and asked for the top 2 popular flavors -- dark chocolate and peanut butter. They went really well together, and was so creamy and flavorful. Two scoops came out to $8. Partner said, I'd rather have 5 double scoops from here than repeat our meal at Bettina's (I think I'd have to agree!), which pretty much says it all. Great location for this ice creamery because it gives us an opportunity to stop on the way to Santa Barbara and on the way back! A nice way to bookend a weekend trip. read more

Good fresh-churned ice cream spot. Visited this Rori's location on a road trip (twice) while visiting Santa Barbara. Each time I walked in you're hit the with smell of freshly made waffle cones. Since they don't allow samples I ordered a split scoop of the Lemon Curd and Passionfruit. It's nice that they don't charge extra for a split scoop like some other places. The Lemon Curd was my favorite out of everything I had. I do wish there was some graham cracker or something just to give it a little texture. The Passionfruit was vegan. Tart but still sweet and fruity. The second time I went I got a split scoop of the Brown Sugar Banana and the Cup O' Joe Spinelli. The BSB was tasty. It had a fresh banana flavor and didn't taste artificial. I typically enjoy coffee flavored ice cream but it was a little too bitter for my taste. My husband got the Biscoff which tasted of cinnamon and and sugar, but i found it to be a bit grainy. Not sure if they had ground up the cookies but it might have been better if they left it in chunks instead. The Strawberry Cheescake was nice as well and was reminiscent of Baskin Robins Very Berry Strawberry flavor. The store was quaint and clean. The employees were patient and friendly. It's a little pricey but I think they give you a good portion - basically felt like two scoops even though I got one. COVID Accommodations: Contactless payment. It was an added bonus that the employees enter the tip in for you so you don't even have to touch the screen. Employees wore gloves and masks. They are also only allowing one group in at a time and no samples. No outside seating at this time. I was blown away more than I thought I would be with Rori's! I visited the Montecito location on a Saturday night at 9:30 and it was poppin'. There was a father and son in front of me and two girls working - one at the cash register and one preparing the orders. The man asked about the mint patty flavor and the girl at the register said it has a strong mint flavor because they have it sit for a long time with mint leaves. He said that was perfect and included it in his order. I wanted to use their AXXESS deal (buy one single scoop, get one free) and asked if I would be able to have both scoops in one of the bigger cups. The girl preparing the ice cream said I would get more ice cream if I ordered them each in their own single cup, so I said thank you and did just that. I asked if the salted caramel was popular and they said yes, so I ordered that and the mint patty. Wow.. I cherished every bite of those two cups that night and the following night. Artisanal ice cream at its finest for sure. It does come with a price, but not too bad when you are treating yourself and have the AXXESS card to boot! read more

Rori's has amazing, unique flavors. I came for one pint but ended up leaving with two. I got some vanilla but could not turn down the Vegan Tropical Wild Berry for my son who cannot have eggs. I ended up eating more of the Wild Berry myself! One thing to note is that this ice cream is pricey. I believe I spent about $22 for the two pints. That being said, it was worth it because it was such a treat. We'll definitely return the next time we are in the area. read more

It was our first time here. There were two girls working. One of the girls (who was making the waffle cones) was very nice, however the other girl working and helping us was not friendly at all. I mentioned it was our first time visiting and asked for 1 sample for my daughter. She was not pleasant nor did she seem like she wanted to help us at all. I asked for another sample for my son and after that she just left. The girl who was making waffle cones came to help me and she was very nice. We got the chocolate chunk ice cream which was nice and creamy. The salted caramel was nice as well. For kids, you should get the itsy bitsy. I didn't study the menu fast enough as the first lady who was helping me made me feel rushed. Overall, the quality and the taste of the ice cream was great. The service was awful minus the last lady who helped us. We had better service at McConnells. I read another persons yelp review and they also commented on the people working here being rude. I'm sure people have a bad day and don't want to be in a customer facing job but can you please pretend and at least say, hello! Tips would be great if people were nice! read more

Delicious! I have been really into their vegan ice creams lately l. April they had a couple of special flavors that were vegan. One was lemon with sprinkles. I didn't think the sprinkles would add anything as I never really understood sprinkles, but they gave the ice cream a really nice texture. Their passion fruit vegan ice cream is also delicious. Really sweet little stand (it's not really a restaurant or even cafe... you just walk up to indoor counter, order, and find seating in a general marketplace). staff is super friendly, and certainly knowledgeable about the flavors. The ice cream is good, to be very candid, it really doesn't taste all that different from Ben & Jerry's; the pricing of course is very steep considering that they labeled themselves "artisanal". I got the coffee flavor and the peanut butter chocolate flavor; again good ice cream, but nothing all that exceptional. This is an artisan ice cream shop similar to the ones in San Francisco like Bi-Rite Creamery and Humphry Slocombe, although the flavors aren't quite that exotic. They use metal spoons for samples and use high quality organic ingredients. They even have few flavors which are dairy free and/or gluten free. They also let you sample the flavors. I'm not sure if the have a limit on how many you can sample. My wife and I sampled four different flavors and they were totally cool with it. Serious dark chocolate - quite bitter which is the way my wife and I like it so this was one of our favorites. It's 72% cacao. Lemon curd - very refreshing lemon taste with a touch of creaminess. I liked this one a lot. Honey lavender - Not as good as the ones I've tried in the past but this flavor combination is actually quite good. Lavender wasn't too overpowering. Mint patty - Mint tasted really fresh, almost as fresh as the ones you get from a garden. It did not taste like mint gum or York Peppermint Patty. Malted Milk Ball - tastes exactly like it says. This was another one of our favorites. Cherimoya Chai - this was a rather unique flavor and is the first place I've seen that uses cherimoya. For those that are not familiar, cherimoya is an ugly looking fruit with a surprisingly sweet taste. It has the texture of a mango with a creamy pineapple-like taste. I was hoping to get more of this flavor but the chai part overpowered cherimoya and all I tasted was cardamom. You can get any of the flavors in a cone or a cup. We got two cups with two flavors in each and the total came out to about $11. Little pricey but is typical for artisan ice cream. They also have syrup/sauces but you really don't need them. This will definitely be one of my regular stops when I'm vacationing in Santa Barbara. read more

I have to give a lot of praise to Rori's it's really really good. I love the little mason jars it makes me feel all warm and hipstery inside as I devour my ice cream. The ice cream is pricey but very high quality. Of the Montecito shops it's clearly the best and in the area it is rivaled only by McConnells. Although the location is often times a parking nightmare, it is a great one to chill around. Employees are very nice, I think the Zac Efron lookalike is a cool guy. read more

Tried this and the famed McConnells....the winner by a panel of 4 (2adults and 2 kids) in an unanimous decision ...Rori's! Flavors were more aligned to our liking. Size options for various people/appetites. Love the mix and match option for trying 3 flavors but in smaller quantity then a 2 scoop option which is limited to two flavors. Loved the malt ball and the milk chocolate (latter was less sweet). Black pepper pistachio was good but didn't pop as much as imagined, didn't taste the black pepper. Should have ordered the brown sugar banana but worried it was too sweet- no tastings amongst Covid Daughter loved the lemon curd- she has been on the hunt for a solid lemon flavored gelato for years...finally hit the spot. The NY strawberry cheesecake ice cream is the best!!! Sure, I've tried other flavors, but I keep coming back to this flavor. I love that it has bits of pie crumble with it, so it gives it a nice crunch. The strawberry flavor is delicious! Sometimes strawberry ice cream can taste a bit artificial, but not Rori's! The strawberry flavor tastes natural and fresh -- I think they do have chunks of strawberries in the ice cream. You can get a single scoop and ask them to split it between two flavors, which is always a treat when you can try more flavors. The staff has always been very friendly, and very enthusiastic and willing to provide their recommendations for what flavors they like (although sometimes, their recommendations aren't too helpful, because they love all of the flavors!). With the cold nipping at my heels as we walked into this little hub of a scoop shop, I was ready to turn back and say heck no to getting ice cream. But alas, my love for Rori's perfectly-made waffle cones and their variety of flavors won out. This last time around, I sampled their root beer float flavor, which I bet tastes amazing as a scoop in the eponymous drink. In my check-in, I recommended the lemon curd, a tart yet refined take on a summer baking staple. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors here; in fact, I think I've tried or had every single flavor except for the John Martin and black pepper pistachio by now. What I ended up getting, though, was the New York strawberry cheesecake in itty bitty cone form. The smallest scoops are now $1.90, but with my well-worn Axxess card, the total came closer to its original $1.75 price. If you want a place to sit (especially indoors), I would recommend that you drive over to the Santa Barbara Public Market location instead. But a quick stop into the like, nine cubic feet of the Montecito location will give you access to all of their easily transportable goodies, like their 30 ounce cruugs of ice cream, blue balls (don't knock 'em 'til you try 'em), and what the fudge bars. People may say that McConnell's is the ice cream of Santa Barbara, but I say this is the best in town. read more
