I've had my share of ice cream, and Rori's takes the cake for salted caramel ice cream. It's $3.75 for a single scoop. Get yours in a cup, otherwise you'll get a baby-sized scoop in a cone. Also, there's a couple tables outside, but it's standing room only inside. Flavors: The peanut butter chocolate and honey lavender were nothing notable. The mint chocolate was a nice surprise, but a whole scoop would've been too much to handle (then again, maybe not, considering how small the scoops are). Not impressed. It's a cute shop and I like the location, but the ice cream was just okay. Maybe it's just me. I have a particular taste in ice creams, usually dark chocolate, rich flavors, or bold chocolate chunks and nuts. Any mixed in items in Rori's are on the fine side and the chocolate ice creams I've had are not chocolately enough. I personally prefer McConnell's hundreds of times over Rori's. The flavors there are classic and better suited for chocolate lovers. Rori's has unusual flavors. One I tried, the bacon, was unpalatable. The server accidentally gave me this one once. When I told him I had actually ordered a different flavor, he scooped that one right on top, but the bacon flavor still transferred (ruined) the original requested flavor. read more

I've been on an ice cream kick! Lately, I've tried it all. Mother Moo, Peddlers Creamery, McConnells, Carmela, Gelateria Uli, Salt & Straw, anxiously waiting on Big Gay Ice Cream from NYC and finally going up to SB and trying Rori's. There's not much that I haven't tried recently! All that being said, they each have their strong suits and they're all good, but that Honey Lavender at Rori's is life-changing! I love that they use Straus Family products - Mother Moo does too and I just think it makes all the difference! Their high quality products just make the ice cream taste a world better! The honey lavender is sweet without being too sweet, floral without being overly so and very bold in flavor. You must love lavender (and I do!), especially eating it! as the flavors are so bold! The honey is more of an after taste - lending a nice richness and smooth finish. It's delicious! Maybe the best scoop I've ever had! Absolutely amazing! The cone was a simple sugar cone - small and no waffle cone options. It was tasty but definitely not as good as Salt & Straw's or McConnells. The shop, however, is tiny! They just opened one in the new Santa Barbara Public Market (review on that place to come soon too!) so at least there is one closer to Santa Barbara proper. This one is down the freeway a couple stops in Montecito! A tiny little strip mall and the store is even smaller (maybe 1-2 people could fit inside) any more and it's just too much! You get your ice cream and get out! There are several tables outside - and when we went - in October - there was this adorable little outdoor pumpkin patch (on the honor system) where you can take a pumpkin and put money in a metal lock box (much similar to that of a US Parks system and parking), complete with lots of hay bales. There's not much in the shopping center - several high end shops (including a dog boutique) and anchored predominately by a Vons. My only gripe with this place: the lack of variety of flavors. They have so few flavors - which I guess is okay as long as they have honey lavender (it's on the permanent menu - so not to worry) and they have maybe 5 or so rotating flavors. I just can't get enough, I love Rori's! I have to admit that I come to the Montecito location 1-2 times a week (I love in Carp) and the reason I do so is because this ice cream is out of this world!!! I also love how Rori's hires cool staff, the kids that work there are super friendly and fun and they really help make the experience enjoyable. This review is for the Coast Village Road location. We went on Thursday, 9/7 in the evening. Previously have been to the location in the Public Market, which has always been pleasant. This trip there were four of us and the woman sitting outside did not want to go back in and help us, my friend commented. She had been sitting outside hanging with another person. She scowled when having to get out of her chair, as she saw us approach. Once in the small shop, the same woman seemed irritated with us simply for ordering and trying two samples. We were mistaken about our Axxess deal - and she seemed pleased to inform us that we were incorrect in what deal was available. Our small group was pretty chill, but the woman's poor attitude and obvious non-verbal communication was a downer. The ice cream is great! While my wife and I were contemplating the various options, another patron came in a bought four pints of flavors and raved about mixing and matching. Normally, I am pretty simple and prefer mint, which they have and is also very delicious. Every night I made a point to try a different flavor. My favorite is the super dark chocolate which is made with 72% Belgian Chocolates! My wife raves about the brownie and the Holiday Candy Cane. I loved it too, along with the maple pecan ice. Regardless of your choice, you simply won't go wrong. Oh, and the cones are out of this world and a dessert in themselves. They are handmade with a hint of cinnamon. The cutest little ice cream shop around! It's definitely tiny, with only space to stand and place your order. All seating is found outside. There's a limited array of flavors, but still plenty to choose from. On this occasion I opted for the Dole Whip. Delicious! It was a little heavy on the coconut, but still lovely. It would be perfect on a hot summer day. My boyfriend had a Chocolate S'mores thing, as his love for chocolate is pretty intense. I knew he liked it since it was gone in a matter of seconds. Rori's is a tiny ice cream shop in the classy, upscale, Oprah-friendly Montecito Country Mart. It's one of those new-wave high-end ice cream operations that will always have salted caramel on the menu, and it's accordingly cute and expensive. Matt B. and I stopped in on a whim and had a nice Sunday afternoon treat. There were a lot of flavors to choose from and I was able to sample a few (though service was a little spotty and I didn't feel particularly welcome to sample to my heart's content (though to be fair my heart is only content with like minimum six samples)). I tried the salted caramel, the roasted pistachio, and the lemon curd, settling on a cup of the first two. The texture of the ice cream was not quite ideal. It was reasonably creamy but also icy in pockets. Not bad, though, and I finished my ice cream despite being full and having a dinner to go to an hour later. The flavors were great. The salted caramel was on point, and the roasted pistachio was not as full of flavor as I wanted but had some nice nuggets of pistachio. I also really liked the lemon curd. It was bright and tart with an underlying milky sweetness, and I probably would've gotten it if I thought it would go with the caramel. Matt got a cup of vanilla bean, which was less interesting but perfectly decent. I wouldn't go out of my way for Rori's, but since I end up in Montecito Country Mart a couple times a year I'm sure I'll go back for more tasty scoops. read more

Nice little ice cream stand within the Public Market. They have many of the standard flavors, some unique and then even more unique specials. I tried the brown sugar banana, which was tasty and refreshing. Creamy with a nice strong banana taste and brown sugary sweetness You can tell the ingredients were all fresh and "homemade." The waffle cone held the ice cream nicely and had a nice crunch and flavor. They will let you sample any flavors, and if you're feeling guilty, they even have these little mini cones. I haven't tried other ice cream in the area, however this one will be hard to beat. read more

Mmmmm Ice Cream! My first job was working at Baskin Robbins in Montecito! Scoops were .35 cents! I still know my 35s on multiplication tables all the way to ten! Baskin Robbins left sometime around ten or twelve years ago and Montecito was without ice cream! Then we got Scoop, never really did it for me. and now we have Rori's! Much better. I had the Milk Chocolate Chunk and the dark chocolate. Very good. The ice cream was delicious, very creamy with true pure chocolate flavors. My son tried the peanut butter swirl and said it was awesome. Ice cream is now $3.75 a scoop! That is and increase of 1,071% Wow! Maybe we should all invest in ice cream. While I think it is pretty bold putting the name "Artisinal" in the name of their shop I think they pull it off. It tastes like it is truely made by an artisan. They have a few tables outside, what used to be the patio for the Japanese restaurant is a little gravel patio with tables for Rori's. This spot was so good! There were a ton of flavors and they all looked unique and house made. Their freshly baked cookies and brownies were nice add-ons. I liked how the owner was the one scooping the ice cream and her son was manning the register.
