This place is a hidden gem in Dublin. A lot of the Italian restaurants were only taking reservations and we found this one who had a table available. It is a cozy little restaurant and very small. No more than 10 tables inside probably. The service was exquisite by everyone and it is a white table cloth restaurant, the prices were moderate and the food was very tasty. I wouldn't say it was out of this world which is why i wouldn't give it 5 starts but I would recommend to anyone looking for a good Italian restaurant in Dublin. read more

We stayed in the Temple Bar area. The food is that there is a vast selecting of pubs, restaurants and attractions so in walking distance. The bad is that it is dirty, crowded and noisy. accidentally happened on this place and boy were we happily surprised. An Italian gem written an extensive wine list and outstanding dishes that you will not find elsewhere. Crab with jalapeño on toast and the eggplant were delicious starters. The spaghetti with pomodoro and the gnocchi with crab were equally excellent. The tiramasu was too for for. Maitre'd Andre was pleasant, helpful and oversaw a well run establishment and the place is beautiful. read more

I've been debating this score and it was almost a three but I figured it was a bit mean to take the score down by two because they didn't have my first choice (ravioli) on the menu the day we visited for lunch. I had seared tuna to start followed by monkfish. Really enjoyed the seared tuna and the monkfish was cooked to perfection. I asked our server if they'd recommend the cannolo or tiramisu for dessert. They recommended the tiramisu so I went with that. It was fantastic. Service is relaxed even when they're hopping. The best thing I can add is that you don't feel like you're in Temple Bar when you're eating here and for that I was v grateful. read more

Updated: March 4 2020 I have been having diarrhea since the night I finished this meal for 3 days, and been to bathroom 20 times a day. It was horrible. AVOID the raw food here. I came here solely just for the raw Sicilian red prawn, I had it back in Sicily and fell in love with the creamy taste lime butter. That red prawn is only local so I was not able to find anywhere else until here, they have a lot of raw seafood and also cooked ones. Price is a bit high just like every other seafood place but the quality is very high standard. I came here by myself around 8:30pm on a Sunday night without reservation. It took around 15mins to be seated. The service throughout the night was great, just a bit slow if you are in a rush I do not recommend. Order the raw red prawn which they thin sliced them you can eat with the cracker. Adding lemon if you want to get rid of some of the fishiness. The squid ink risotto is full of flavor but a little bit salty. But they are really generous using the ink, but I did it see a lot of squid in there Great place if you like Sicilian foo read more

In terms of bubbles only Champagne to choose by the glass. For an Italian you would hope for some well chosen prosecco. Nice octopus starter and the spaghetti was excellent but clams not so good, some not open, some hardly open so I left those. Wine list extensive and some very expensive options. We went during Christmas so ty hey were busy and probably not as attentive as they could have been. More a3.5 but good non the less. read more

The appetizers (we got oysters and burrata) AMAZING!!! And the only reason this got stars at all. Our pasta was undercooked which was sad for the price but the real issue with this place is is the service. If you want to be judged off the way you look and act, this is the place for you, we found the people who worked here so off putting. They treated us like slum and essentially rolled their eyes at us the whole time. All of it was a bit pretentious for the quality of the food to be honest. Were we in suits? No... but we are at a Michelin star restaurant the night before and we're treated better than this place. If you ask me, the judgement and atmosphere here wasn't worth the food quality here. This was our best meal in Ireland so far. The service and the food were great. I had the special which was crab in a spaghetti type pasta with a rose/ tomato sauce. The land of bangers and mash, stick-to-your-bones Guinness stews and pot pies... well, we ate all of that 2 days in a row and needed a bit of a change while visiting Ireland. We did not go wrong with Rosa Madre. We found this gem in the midst of the Temple Bar area. What we had: Starters: Warm bread, soft Irish butter Prosciutto, mozzarella and this fruit compote (Burrata e Culatello con Senapata di Fichi) Pastas: Tonnarelli all' Astice - Lobster with pasta in light tomato sauce A crab pasta special Proteins: Grilled sea bass special Chicken with cheese wrapped with mortadella over roasted potatoes (a cordon bleu italian style) All were on point, including service, timeliness, and ambience. We read some of the reviews on yelp and decided to try Rosa Madre Italian restaurant, WOW!!! The salted sea Bass was absolutely the best I had ever had, they bring the whole fish out in a pan covered in salt light it on fire, crack it open take the skin off and de bone it right in front of you !! It was amazing!!! The raviolis were excellent as well and the baked scallops absolutely delicious!!! Their service was great as well, you won't be disappointed read more

I have been here three times in the space of three weeks with various friends. Everyone enjoyed it each time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is laid out over two floors. We ate on the first floor the first time, by the window on the lower floor the second time and down by the kitchen the third time. I did find it too warm by the kitchen as it was very busy that night. My preference would be to sit on the upper level if it's open. They do a great deal of fish and it's all on display on ice.. I had the gnocchi the first time, with mussels to start and it was all terrific. The second visit, I had sea bass cooked in salt, and it was divine. I have tried both the sea bass and sea bream cooked in salt, as well as a couple of the pastas. I have also tried the scallops and the tuna special starter. All the food is always excellent. They bring you delicious breads that they make themselves- it's worth visiting for this alone. I never had room for dessert but I did try the coffee and again, the espresso is excellent. If I have a criticism, it would be the price of the wines. The wine list is expensive and the prices go up fairly quickly on the list. However this is the only slight negative that I can mention, and it would certainly not stop me from coming back. I have noticed many Dublin restaurants are raising the price of their wines so Rosa Madre is not alone in doing this. I would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful Authentic Italian restaurant- I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

We went here because of the good reviews online, and honestly we're baffled. The restaurant was okay at best on all accounts -- food, atmosphere, service -- but largely disappointing, especially at this price. The oysters were served dry and rubbery, and not detached from the shell. There were none of the usual oyster condiments, either -- but a sad bottle of Tabasco sauce (?!) was provided. Afterwards, one of the waitstaff seemed to notice that there was something wrong with "one of" the oysters, and brought an extra, which turned out to be significantly better -- briny, more flavorful... but there were *two* of us at the table. And why didn't they just serve *that* kind of oyster in the first place? Fruit flies buzzed around the table. Mains were okay. The squid ink risotto was flavorful, perhaps a bit salty. It was served in a large lump. I had the special, which was quite good, after the first bit, which had some crab shell in it. I liked the "artisan pasta." On the plus side, the bread and olive oil were very tasty. Service was slow and inattentive. Things started off well -- they took my coat, which was nice, but failed to return it to me later. Just happened upon this place on a quick turn around biz trip. Showed up, solo, no resi and prepared for the walk of shame should they not be able to accommodate me. The hostess/manager/commander in chief, squeezed me in despite being very busy tonight. Ordered the app of the day (crab cake with trout caviar and crème fresh.)... I mean... legit. Wanted to try the oysters but going on a solo mission knew I couldn't take down 6 and still eat pasta (which was the main thing I wanted tonight). Elizabeth, the "Commander", let me just ordered 1 to try. Shows up in a big tray of ice and mignonette, now I'm feeling guilty since I only ordered 1. Thanks so much, it was great but super glad I didn't have 6 because they are quite large. Next came the Pasta with white Ragu. Maybe one of the best pastas I've had including my travels to Italy! Oh yes, this whole time I'm asking The Commander for a wine pairings and she's just dropping knowledge on me as if she's Socrates. A Sicilian white for the crab/trout caviar, a smooth as silk Chianti for the pasta. I know wine, these were great and the price point was amazingly reasonable. Lastly, debating if I want the check or dessert and Liz tells me the Tiramisu is the best dessert on the menu. AGAIN, she is right, it's just the perfect balance of delicate cream + richness of the expresso/chocolate. Been coming to Dublin for work on the reg, I know this place is going to be on my "to stop by list "from now on. Try it, you will like it. After reading the other reviews I was very disappointed in our visit/food. We ordered our appetizer & entree at the same time. Our app came out very quickly. However after eating out appetizer we waited over 1 more hour for our food. At one point we saw our waiter & he appeared anxious telling us 3 more minutes for our food. Honestly, I think our ticket was lost or forgotten. The tables beside us came in much later than us & received their food before us. Now on to the good.... we had a prawn special and the scallops for apps. Both were okay but not fabulous. For our entrees we ordered the ribeye, sea bass & clam pasta. The clam pasta was delicious, by far the best thing we ordered. The ribeye was very tough; it's only savior was the yummy mushroom sauce. The sea bass was fishy, but hey...it is fish, right? All in all I would pass this Restaurant & try another Italian place in the city. That's our plan for tonight. :-) read more
