The design of A&W is so. stinking. cute. You can tell they really put a lot of pride into the light, airy aesthetic of the store and it reflects the products they sell perfectly. Overall, it does have a higher price tag, but I think the quality is there. I especially love their more local lines, like Sweet Home Chicago, which is filled with the CUTEST Chicago tees and sweatshirts you'll find in the city! I also adore their Little Wonder line (moment of silence that name), which is clothing for newborns, toddlers, and kids. I got a friend a cute set for her baby and just picked up a shirt that says "I still live with my parents" that will fit a 3-6 month old. A&W also started a beanie line called 'mad hatter' which has beanies in every color under the sun that are super soft and thick to keep your ears warm during the Chicago winter. I stumbled on the cutest children's boutique in Oak Park. Upstairs features smaller sizes (I saw…read moresizes up to 8, but mostly toddler sizes). Downstairs is "the vault", which features sizes up to 14/16 with sales up to 40% (maybe more depending on the time of the year). The vault is sectioned by sizes. At the bottom of the stairs is a clearance size with the discount percentage for the entire room. I visited in early October 2024 and there were many discounted spring/summer styles, with a few sweaters and sweatpants options. There's a couch in the middle of the floor to take a break or for your children so you can shop uninterrupted. The fitting room is upstairs toward the back of the store. Enjoy cute trinkets near the check-out register, plus the cutest wrapping paper that can be purchased. Sarah, the buyer and manager I believe, was so sweet and helped me hide some gifts from my daughter after she identified things she wanted. It's woman-owned, minority-owned and has a woman's boutique right next door, 16 suitcases.

I have to update my review... I find their events system REALLY frustrating. Like... where are…read morethese events they advertise? The current issue is that they've advertised something on their Instagram, and they don't have a link to this particular event on their Instagram page. I asked a couple times before getting a response about where to find the event, and was told it's on the website. But the events section (which is at the bottom of the page, called Community Events in the small print where you usually look for contact info) has events from nine months ago because when I clicked on one that said April, it said that the event is completed. It should not be this damn hard to find events that they're advertising weeks in advance, nor having to ask multiple times a few days apart to get some sort of help. I had to use the search function to find the event, and that was successful only because I knew the name of it; if I was trying to browse what events they were hosting I would have been out of luck. They have a lot of good things going for them, but it's simply ridiculous that this is so difficult when literally any other company that hosts events has some sort of easily found, top-level link to them for people to find. When I finally did find the event and went to sign up, there's no time listed so I had to go back to Instagram to find it... make it make sense.

They have a great selection of unique toys and gifts, and they are bursting at the seams with second-hand clothing and shoes. The owner, Maya, was there and it was so great chatting with her and learning more about the shop. I ended up getting a toddler gardening set and tea set, plus some wind-up furry chicks and bunnies. Maya wrapped up both gifts for me in a lovely butterfly wrapping paper and did a better job than I could have ever done. I can't wait to come back and browse the toddler boy selection!

They had a display with…read moresome really cute Halloween items, and if I'd stopped in here earlier in the month I 100% would have picked up a onesie for my daughter. They pointed out a couple areas where they have "girl" baby clothes (I mean, clothing doesn't have a gender but we exist in the world where people like to do that). Most of their clothes are for children older than mine but they did have a few things. It's definitely expensive, though, so I don't know that I'd buy a lot here. I did buy some very cute barrettes for my baby (I've found it hard to find some that don't have pieces attached to them, and I don't want pieces that might pull off) and I'll probably purchase more at some point. I also will check out their holiday stuff and may look at the coats they have as well, as the weather cools down. I'll certainly keep an eye on their Instagram, too.
