Ambiance: 9/10 Our party of 7 arrived just after our scheduled reservation time, (8:30 Saturday) and the staff was very accomodating and understanding of our tardiness. Fortunately, the night had just begun and the restaurant was not too packed yet. There was a fun neon light fixture in the shape of angel's wings for a photo opportunity as well. We were treated with an impressive fireshow with nearly every table getting two+ sparklers to join in on the fun. The only reason this isn't a 5/5 experience was because of how much smoke came off the sparklers. At one moment, it became hard to breathe and a napkin was used to try to filter the air as some of us started coughing and rubbing our eyes. Service: 2/10 As stated above, the staff was accomodating for our tardiness. Once seated, one of our party members felt ill and went to the restroom to freshen up. The staff was very patient with us and we ordered shortly after returning. We had then ordered our food and the appetizers came out rather quickly. We had our first taste and was excited for the rest of the meal. After the apps came out, all but two of the mains (mushroom risotto & steak risotto) came out shortly after the appetizers. The party waited for 5 minutes before starting eating, but the two risottos didn't come until nearly 40 minutes after the rest of the party had been served their mains. When it did come out, they brought out a mushroom risotto and a different dish entirely to which the returned back to the kitchen. At this point I was quite frustrated by this and I tried to wave down a manager to have a conversation. I can't speak for this manager, but when I waved him down after making eye contact and standing up, he personally ignored me and asked that the waiter come and help us out. The waiter assured us that our food was coming shortly but after 45+ minutes we wanted more than just reassurance. Finally, we decided to cancel that steak risotto and after having spoken to 3 different waiters about our food order, a manager had come around insisting that we have some margarita shots to help improve our experience. Personally I felt that the margaritas were watered down, but it was a nice gesture, albeit it seemed forced and insincere. I was hoping for a 10-20% discount due to the inconvenience and the frustration suffered that evening but ultimately we left paying the full bill. Food: 4/10 Every table started off with some chips and some salsa. I love spicy food and the salsa did not disappoint. Our party started off with a Peruvian Ceviche (450 MXD) and a RosaNegra salad for the table, both of which were stellar. I loved the freshness of the fish and the salad was well-dressed and not drowned in dressing. We also had a bone marrow dish which looked amazing, but I didn't have any for myself. I ended up ordering the shrimp risotto (1100 MXD) and I was rather disappointed by the risotto. To clarify, it was really rich and creamy, but was only given two shrimp on top. My friends ordered the steak risotto and the mushroom risotto as well, and I came to find out that the base is exactly the same. The only difference was in the toppings which defined the dish. This may be too much to expect, but I was certainly hoping for the taste of shrimp in my shrimp risotto, the taste of mushroom in the mushroom risotto, and the taste of beef in the steak risotto. Instead we were served a standard risotto base with different toppings. I will say though that the shrimp and steak were well seasoned and not over-cooked. Overall: A unbiased average rating would be 15/30 which is a 2.5 star rating by Yelp's standards, but the service left such a sour note in our night that it really affects my scoring and that's why I've given it a 1.5/5 star rating. A fun restaurant with a great location on the water. It's beautiful. We went with a group so it got pretty rowdy. When people buy bottles there's a whole dog and pony show which can get overwhelming. For reference people were dancing in the space where our table was so I couldn't get back to my seat after going to the restroom until they got off the chairs and the sparklers died out. My husband had a burger and said it was subpar. I had the shrimp risotto which I thought tasted amazing. I would def go again and maybe sit down closer to the water and not with a group. The bone marrow was good and the ceviche too. Not as good as their sister restaurant, Chambao, but still was good. The deconstructed nogana was good, but not the best dish I've ever had. I did eat my first cricket, so that was funny. We liked the music and the entertainment, especially the fire show, but it was definitely a little more chaotic than Chambao, that we had just gone to. It was a little to dark though because we couldn't see the menu and we struggled on our phones so long they brought us a real menu which I prefer. The fire show was fantastic. I saw people doing hookah and their table and some were brought flowers to their table there was a lot going on. However, after waiting for my food for longer than I thought was needed I went to the restroom. While I was in the bathroom they brought my food. I don't think ones food should be brought out and sat on their table in their absence. So, it was sent back by my husband. Once I finally got my food back it had no FLAVOR! All of the restaurants along the main road in the Hotel Zone seem to have the same vibe - loud music, live entertainment and scenic views. All of them have a different theme to distinguish themselves but odds are, they probably belong under one of the restaurant groups that seem to dominate the region. This restaurant is no different. I would suggest making a reservation, which is pretty easy to do via OpenTable. What turned me off about this place is right when you sit down, they bring around a seafood/steak tower to try and sell you on the higher priced items on the menu. They have an employee come around and give you the spiel with a laser pointer to highlight what they're referring to. I get that the clientele is predominately tourists but I didn't come to Cancun to order a Japanese Wagyu steak. Nonetheless, I think it's pretty tacky. For starters, we the house bread which came with an assortment of salsas and chips. The bread was interesting and pretty fluffy on the inside. I thought dinner was off to a great start but it all went downhill from there. We ordered the spicy octopus and it was not what we were expecting. Something about the spice was off to me. It felt disjointed from the dish itself. After having crispy octopus the previous night at a different restaurant, the octopus here fell flat. For my main I got the black pasta and it was terrible. Please do yourself a favor and do not order this dish. The noodles were so damn soggy. It just sits in the "soup" and it's far from what you consider "al-dente". It's cool that they really give you a TON of seafood (clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, octopus, etc...) but the tagliatelle noodles were AWFUL. I don't think I've ever had pasta so bad before. I got to try the baked short rib tacos and thought it was below par (overpriced and dry). Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed with the food here. The one silver lining was that towards the end of our meal, all of the people seated inside were invited onto the patio deck to witness the live fire show accompanied by fireworks at the end. Dinner does come with a show which I had no idea about. It was awkward getting up after being seated 10 minutes before to go outside to watch the show. I will say "the show" is interesting. If you know you know. The waiter kept taking forever to fill up our waters. Please keep this in mind, we were hungover and very parched. We absolutely loved the food at Rosa Negra - Cancun location. This place is packed so make sure you get a reservation. I do wish I had requested outdoor seating though, because it had a better view/seating. The fire show they do outdoors is also really cool! Coming to food - our top two favorites were the shrimp tacos and the catch of the day with spicy rub (this fish was boneless and cooked to perfection. The fish tacos were good, but there was a weird hard crunchy bite coming in between which is why I wouldn't recommend them. For desserts, I highly suggest the churros and keep in note that that serving size for desserts is huge. Service can take a while so try not to go when you're super hungry. Overall amazing food here that's super delicious and I highly recommend making this part of your visit to Cancun especially if you're a seafood lover! read more

Slightly expensive but that is expected for the location and service. The service was excellent we had a very attentive waiter that did an amazing job of making us feel well taken care of. Only negative is that management tries to push the expensive plates pretty strongly so be aware of that. The vibe was amazing, they had great energy and did a fire show after sunset that was very fun. Amazing! I didn't know what to expect, but I'm so glad that we had our firsts nights dinner here (it's gonna be hard to top it). The food, the drinks, the ambiance, the show, and the party that you get to have was nothing like I'd experienced in a restaurant before. The waitstaff was super friendly and thanks to Farid (our waiter) for helping us choose some of the best items on the menu. We had a ceviche sampler, complimentary bread with 3 different salsas, and spicy octopus for appetizers. The ceviche-so fresh with different tastes to them all (my favorite was the spiciest one). The bread was lite and airy and the salsas that accompanied only helped everything taste better. The octopus was perfectly cooked and not chewy. We also ordered the 10oz Nigerian tiger shrimp which was huge, but cooked extremely well. They do a nightly fire performance at 9:30pm and fireworks show afterwards. This is the place for a celebration! They know how to make it grand with sparklers and energy! Fantastic! My experience here was lovely. It was quite crowded but it was very lively and fast paced environment yet still a classy restaurant. I had the Giant Calamari, King Salmon, and Banana Cheesecake Pudding. The food was very tasty but I was disappointed in the size of the King Salmon as it was pricey. Also, the garnishes in it weren't all too appetizing. I do wish I knew what the green sauce was as when I did taste it my throat began to itch and close like I was allergic to it. Luckily, I was able to go to the bathroom and get myself together. The bathroom was also an experience! They had someone in there assisting you with soap and giving you towels to dry off with. Banana Pudding Cheesecake was also a must! Great taste. One thing that would get quite annoying is the same music being played every time a bottle would be ordered. Although it was nice I just wish they switched it up and not reply the same music over and over each time. Overall, I would maybe come back here if I stayed at an all-inclusive hotel and I would come back if I stayed at a non-all-inclusive hotel. Also, the price is worth it! My friends and I were super excited to try this place! The Cabo location is great and so we figured this would be equally so--- WRONG! First, we made a reservation for 8:30pm, when we arrived we were taken to a different restaurant to be seated and provided with a different menu ( without being told) and when questioned about it, we were told "we are really busy at Rosa Negra". Ok and? Why wasn't that communicated? Plus we made these reservations over a month in advance. Next after 45 mins, they moved us to Rosa Negra, however it then took 1.5 hours for them to take hour order and 2.5 hours for them to just bring out guacamole! Another 20 minutes to bring the chips that accompanies the guacamole... Are you serious?! Everyone around us were also complaining that they had been waiting for several hours without any service! Ultimately we told them to cancel the order and we left! I truly advise that this place get it together but in the meantime... PLEASE AVOID!!!!!! read more

Long story short: a must for high end dining at Cancun. We went as a group of 5, and the food was fresh and well flavored. We ordered a ceviche, charcoal grilled fish, Alaskan king crab tacos, shrimp tacos, and roasted marrow. Each of the dish was well seasoned and prepared with amazing decision. The highlight for us was the Alaskan king crab tacos, which was a great way to highlight the freshness of the crab without too overwhelming flavors. The bone marrow toast was interestingly sweet. And the charcoal fish was tender and perfectly seasoned. Most importantly, the service was a experience. Before ordering, they bring you a visual platter of the different quality meats they have. The waiters were attentive, wiping crumbs off the table and changing the plates often. The atmosphere was amazing as you eat to the sun setting by the water. A side story: as we booked the taxi through out hotels staff. Everyone said "wow, you'll enjoy the food". This is a must in Cancun. Price wise: dishes were roughly 20-50 depending on the quality of the ingredients. Considering all of the services and the experience, I say this was 100% worth it. What an experience this was. We knew this was one of the hot spots of Cancun, but what we didn't realize was how lively and fun it would turn out to be. Lively music, Dj's, dancing, fire shows, and a lively set of restaurant goers who were ready for a party....I don't have much to say about the food since I can barely remember what we ordered (That's how much fun we had). But I can remember the corn dish which was both delicious and pretty hefty serving wise. Needless to say we certainly enjoyed our meals and drinks with no complaints.
