We were in the area and realized it would be better to stop and have dinner before returning to Bakersfield. We love the Rosa's in Bakersfield, so we took it as a sign this restaurant would be just as good. Come to find out, the owners are related and they all thought it would be a good idea to name their restaurants after their grandmother, Rosa. They are also related to the Rosa's in Pismo. Luigi is the owner in Visalia and he takes great pride in his Rosa's. We came on a night where some things were not working as expected; however, Luigi was all over taking care of everything. He was honest about what was going on. As a diner, that allows me to have more grace than if I were sitting there trying to figure out what was happening. There is nothing that should keep you from having a great meal at Rosa's because the owner and staff will be tending to every detail to make it a great night out. I really like the layout of the restaurant. There is a lot of seating. You can come on your own or with a large group. There is a bar with individual seating in the back. The food was what we expected. We shared a plate of veal and chose the pasta with Alfredo sauce. It was very good and I am glad we chose to split the meal. The bread they bring to the table was perfect and I loved it. We overdid it a little by also ordering the cheesy bread, but it was just too good. All the years we lived in Visalia, we drove past this place every day at least twice. Today was the first time we stopped. Had a late lunch with my son. Arrived about 2:15. We were seated right away. The host was very laid back and friendly. Brought us the table bread and then Took our order. I ordered the tutti mare and requested extra spicy sauce. They delivered. My son ordered the spaghetti. Half way through our server switched and he was equally friendly. Checked on us multiple times. A+ for the service. Solid B+ for the food. Now, the cleanliness of that place. Absolute fail. And when we walked in I was thinking how cute the place was and as I started looking around more and more there was an inch or more of dust on EVERYTHING! The ceiling fans were the first thing I noticed. Then I saw the plant/wire/racks on the walls. The windows had little handprints of grease all over them. There was food and or dishes and trash on all but 3 tables in the front dining room. My son and I were the only ones there! Had dinner there last night. It was the worst lasagna I have ever had. So dry and so flavorless.

Not what I remember! Used to be a good place. The bread ball was raw and doughy like it was rushed to bake. They offered us clam chowder and then came back and said their manager lied to them and they were actually out. Minestrone has canned taste. Ordered seafood fettuccini, they came back and said they're out of crab so they added chicken which was good but kind of weird. Meat lasagna didn't taste what it used to-- very porky flavor and watery. It used to have peppers and olives and flavors. This place was great when in Tulare. Also loved Visalia over the years. Sadly the love and authenticity seem gone. Also, the front waitstaff and hostess seem too into their own world to even greet you or seat you until they are good and ready. I miss seeing the owner actually being around and checking on business. Skip this and go to La Piazza. They'll soon be in downtown Visalia 2026. read more

Great service overall, attentive and prompt staff were helpful. The restaurant is classy and set up to be a romantic dinning experience, although kids and families are warmly welcomed. I like the fact that when you're seated they immediately serve bread fresh and hot with a giant slab of butter to start off. You're sure to be full when you leave just with the tasty bread alone, and a wine if you so choose to sip and chill. The pizza was nice, fresh dough and generous toppings. Fettuccine Alfredo was less impressive, slight taste lingered from refrigeration and temperature wasn't just right. But everything else was amazing, and the garlic bread too. read more

Every single time we order Togo our food is incorrect or missing. I have even had my husband open the bags up and check before he leaves. Somehow the container he assumed had soup was filled to the brim with red sauce. It's very disappointing to expect soup and get sauce. He's already embarrassed to check the bags now we feel like we need to check inside the containers as well. They need to pay better attention to the food that is heading out the door. read more

Rosa's has been my dinner spot in Visalia the past couple of trips there. I've never eaten there as all my visits have been takeout. Ordering is easy. You either call them or you use their Toasttab website. Service has been good every time I showed up. I normally show up earlier than their quoted time, and the food is normally ready early. My wife likes their spaghetti clams in a white sauce. I'm always ordering their spaghetti with a meat sauce. Their sauce is on the acidic side. I will have to try a different sauce on my next visit. Their portions are generously large. Along with the meal comes bread and butter. Rosa's is a good place for generous portions of pasta. read more

Nice servers. Can't say much for the food - except I really enjoyed the clam chowder. The "cup" of chowder will easily feed 2 people. I enjoyed the Silver Gate Cab after returning the Bella....Chianti. It was awful. My husband asked for 2 other types and they were out of them. I tried the Loui's Trio...nothing was worth returning for. Chicken fettuccine didn't have even a half of a breast plus the sauce was bland. So, we were sad it didn't work out for our taste buds. What can I say. The food presented well when it came to the table. It was a good wait (20min) but probably cause we came early and I decided to order the Trio. Fettucini probably was the most bland tasting I have ever had at any Italian restaurant and probably cause I usually make this myself. So let's take a moment and talk about the staff, the male waiter who served us was good, checked up frequently and filled my iced tea twice. However the blonde server was total polar opposite was not welcoming asked how many items were we taking home, asked for three al to go our pizza lasagna and garlic bread. She came back put it on the table and walked away no her you go, just dump and run as if we had the plague. Our male server came by to drop off our receipt where I placed my card. About 10min goes by and Ms Personality says "are you done" I just replied yes. At this point being from the industry we usually start our tip practice at 30% however 12% is what they got from us during our visit, yeah it maybe generous but when you manage restaurants you wonder why she is employed and it's usually isolated to that one individual and not reflective of the rest of the team. For this we will not come back or cater from them ever. Hopefully someone in management will identify and provide some feedback as one person can affect the entire team. On a side note the pizza in the box is the Togo pizza box she gave us after I said I don't think it will fit, she said it's not a large. Bad service we fold the edges to make it fit in the box to take home. To the young blonde server I hope this message gets through to you as I'm thinking you're just having a bad day today! read more

Rosa's Italian restaurant has been a quaint Visalia staple for decades. There's always a celebration or large party whenever I have been here including tonight. Our server Gabriel was EXCEPTIONALLY attentive, detail-oriented, and made sure our drinks were always full! This was quite impressive since the entire restaurant despite one table was packed! My boys had the lasagna. My one son said the tiramisu was a "10/10" and of course the warm homemade bread was delicious! My husband said the rib eye was "cooked properly" to medium rare (and he is a picky one when it comes to meat! ). We did not leave hungry and have leftover ravioli and lasagna for tomorrow. the lasagne did not have a noodle at the bottom of the plate, only cooked hamburger, no sauce or seasonings in it then two layers of noodles with a small amount of cheese in between the layers, sauce on the very top with a small amount of cheese then put under the broiler. Not the same quality as what this restaurant used to serve their patrons. Very disappointed that it didn't taste like traditional lasagne. I brought it to the waitresses attention and she said that's how they make it . I have had it many times in years past and this isn't the way it was served. The fresh bread is delicious . Service was excellent. The waitress was really sweet but needs to learn what real Italian sauces taste like so she can explain how these are different. The calamari was made from steaks instead of rings but were fried to perfection and served with a generous portion of marinara to dip in. I had the lamb special and was happy to see a whole rack, cooked to perfection. I ordered the penne with a putanesca sauce. I swear my face started melting off. Instead of a nice, salty marinara with olives, capers, and anchovies with a hint of red pepper, I got a marinara made with habaneros. Even after cutting it with the remaining marinara from the calamari, it was inedible. My partner had the tortellini with meat sauce and said that it was okay, but nothing special. The restaurant is also quite noisy, so don't come here expecting a quiet dinner. Olive Garden is quieter. For $117 for two, I certainly could have had a better meal. This place was amazing. For a semi-busy Tuesday night. I didn't reserve a table, but able to get a table for three in under 15 minutes. The place was a bit small, but I like the ambiance to it. If you have enough time to dine, I recommend to dine instead. Our server, Luigi, is phenomenal and paid great attention to our table. The food is great for Visalia. Honestly, big portions, but more to share and take home :D The bread they start off with in the beginning, incredible (I heard they make it fresh each day). I notice they do not include the bread when you take out, so even a more reason to dine in person. This restaurant has a small parking lot but ample parking on the street. If you're into ambiance, this restaurant will disappoint. There's bars on the windows and looks like an abandoned building. The menu had soup, salads, pasta, pizza and typical Italian dishes. The wine selection is limited so you may want to bring your own bottle. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana with veggies. The restaurant has a nice, relaxing atmosphere, and the service was very fast! I got the spaghetti alla puttanesca (my favorite Italian dish) and, like the other reviews say, it is VERY spicy. Not too spicy to enjoy it, and you can still taste the ingredients, but definitely order something else if you are sensitive to spice! My wife got a small pizza and said it was really good. They did add a LOT of sauce on it, so if that's not your thing, beware. They also have huge portions, so their prices are very reasonable. read more

I'm a fan of this place. The environment is softly lit, and there are interesting pictures hung on the darkly colored and (if I remember correctly) wallpapered walls. The seating is decently comfortable. The food is pretty good as well. (I got the salmon piccata and bruschetta.) My main gripe with this place comes down to the service. My server was kind and attentive, but firstly, they forgot to give me my appetizers (bruschetta) until well after they already brought out my entrée. Secondly, the napkins smelled weird (possibly a bit *moldy*--but don't quote me on that). I asked several people next to me and they concurred that the napkins did, in fact, smell off. I'm only subtracting one star from my score because I'm sure that the servers would have gladly and efficiently fixed these issues if I let them know. I just decided not to bother. Overall, I plan to come back, and recommend you try this place if you haven't already. read more

I don't write reviews but I had such a great experience and wanted to share. My wife and I used to be regulars there, but over the past year or so we stopped going as much. Anyway, we decided on Rosa's last week and I'm glad we did. Our server Presley (?) was awesome. She was super attentive and genuinely nice. Even though the place was slammed, we never felt forgotten or like we were being rushed with our meal. The food was on point too. We decided to split two dishes and couldn't choose a favorite. A new face came by our table to check in and see how everything was, which was a nice touch. When we asked if we could talk to Louigi to tell him how great everything was, she mentioned she was watching over things while he's in Italy. We let her know how things went and she gave the biggest smile and thanked us for coming in. She even let us sample the gelato! If this is the new normal at Rosa's, we'll definitely be coming back more often. It reminded us why we loved this place to begin with. -John read more

Came to this little Italian spot for the first time for lunch today, and my wife and I absolutely LOVED IT!!!!! The service was point from the moment we walked in. The server was very friendly and seemed grateful that we stopped by. The restaurant ambience is real nice inside. It was Very quiet with Italian music playing in the background which was very nice and there was a few people inside. Keep in mind this was a weekday so I'm sure it gets crowded in the weekend. It was a very quiet & intimate setting. As for the food, it was pretty darn delicious. I ordered the lasagna since it's my go to for Italian food and my wife ordered her favorite, chicken piccata. Both dishes were very fulfilling and large in size. I really enjoyed my plate. We both had leftovers for dinner. I also ordered the fried calamari which was also good but it definitely could've used some Lawreys steak seasoning. They were good but I'd go with something different next time. We ended this perfect lunch with some super good terimisu cake. It was really, really & really delicious. I can't wait to order it again. All in all, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little Italian restaurant to anyone who is in the area wanting some really delicious food. We will definitely be coming back soon with our kids. I enjoy Rosa's. It is a traditional Italian restaurant. The interior is comfortable. The food options , especially the pasta options, are quite good . I have enjoyed every thing I have ordered. The wine list is not large but I always find a good wine to go with my order. I enjoy having dinner in the restaurant. It is a great place to go for dinner with family and friends . I often order to take out when I want to bring food to friends . They do a great job with large orders. Whomever takes my order always takes time to answer questions and make sure they have my order correct. Rosa's is well staffed. The wait staff are friendly, patient, and helpful. They do not push me to order but are there when I am ready. They always carry my orders to my car when I am ordering food to take out. I love Rosa's but tonight was a bit disappointing. Brought our 92 year old friend in for the most amazing clam chowder and bread for her birthday!!! They new it was her birthday. I had child beef ravioli and it was very very tough, the pasta was hard to cut. Boo. Then I couldn't wait for dessert and a song. We got cannoli, she didn't get a song. I know you sing because they where singing when we came in. We opted for the cannoli they where AWFUL... the shell was so hard we had to stab it to cut it and the filling was just nasty. Wasn't firm and it was super grannie. Probably better check that recipe. The remodel is beautiful but now it is so noisy we honestly couldn't hear each other across the booth. My Husband and I went there tonight to celebrate my birthday. Our friends recommended it and it exceeded our expectations. How did we not know about this place! Everyone from the hostess (didn't get her name), to Alexander our server and the manager/owner, Luigi, made us feel so welcome from the time we walked in until the we left. Luigi should be proud of his staff. The servings were large, delicious and the prices were surprisingly affordable! Our server mentioned that the cannoli's were handmade every morning, so we couldn't resist ordering it to share. They were fantastic and what I call a "real" cannoli! Haven't had the opportunity to explore the other restaurants in downtown visalia as I've been so busy orientating at the hospital these past few days. Being like a 5 min walk from the HR dept it's super convenient to get some food. I came here 2 days in a row, and more or less around lunch time (btwn 12-1), this place is mostly quiet. A good amount of pick up orders and to go orders. And it seems like a good amount of high schoolers come here to eat. On the first day here I was the only one in the dining room, second day several other tables were taken. They have a good lunch menu. First day I ordered their lasagna with meat sauce. It came out quickly. The sauce was still bubbling it was so hot. They got a good burnt crust too on it, really added some texture. Flavors were pretty good. Very hearty. I ordered their calamari appetizer. There was a good amount of it, but it was not crunchy. And it was oily. They give u little thin slices of lemon, which is like.... Im having trouble squeezing them their so thin. On the second day I ordered their medium calzone with Canadian bacon, salami and pineapple. You can evidently have as many or as little toppings as u want at no extra charge. A medium was huge!!! I didn't realize it was so big. It was like a 14 inches long!!! Cooked well. Crunchy crust. They did a really good job building it in such a way it held the sauces, and juices in thr calzone without it leaking out or making the bread soggy. The salami were really thick too!!! Not like the thin pepperoni slices. Tasted amazing!! Overall it's a good place to have some Italian food. Inside is dark and drab. But the people working here are really nice. Oh and the coffee tastes amazing. And they also provide complimentary sourdough bread too. Bread is nice and crunchy. But the inside is soft and fluffy. And really warm too. I wouldn't mind coming here again to order. Pricing is decent considering we are in a pandemic. read more
