So basically I'm out $45 with a wrong pizza that cannot be eaten. My wife cannot eat black olives. Who would ever order a cheese and black olive pizza? Yuk. I heard about Rosati's having good "deep dish" pizza, so I made a special trip from Poway to go there and try a slice. I told the lady when I arrived that I was there because I heard about their deep dish and that is why I drove so far to try it. I asked about what types they had and then ordered a slice of the pepperoni. I double-checked and asked "That's deep dish, right?" She didn't say "no", but replied "It's the double-crust", which I naturally assumed to be their version or name for "deep dish", since I made a point to tell her of my interest in "deep dish" pizza and she did not say "No". Ok, for $7 for a slice I figure that's a bit steep, but it'll be worth it. Big surprise when I got it. ...not deep dish at all....if anything...pretty darn thin for a pizza. I don't see how they call that "double-crust"! What would a "single crust" be? Wafer-thin I suppose. Certainly not worth $7 for a re-heated slice of pizza....heck, Costco pizza is fresh and only $1.99 for a slice that is much better. Did she not understand or listen to me at all? I thought I was pretty clear about being excited about a "deep dish" pizza. I told her so and they just shrugged. No offer of taking it back or a refund....no apology. I can get a thin slice of pizza like that anywhere...certainly not going to seek this out. I can't recommend this due to the reasons I mention. This will be the last time I will be dinning at a home town favorite like it was when I grew up back in Chicago suburbs. Ever since ownership changed quality and service has gone down hill. I used to work in the restaurant industry, the young gent bartender was trying his best to be kind but forget our sodas, over charged us on the bill, and pizza was suppose to be well done and was under cooked bc or the over loading of ingredients...called in the order ahead of time and pizza still took too long to come out undercooked...sad to see this place go downhill. There are so many options in Encinitas when it comes to pizza; however, Chicago style deep pan pizza is not available anywhere else. So, we gave it a try along with an order of spaghetti meat sauce, a garden salad, side of french fries and breaded mushroom for Friday night dinner. Unfortunately, it just makes me feel like I wasted my $60 tonight. I don't usually write a review as you can see how many I have written in the past, but for this place despite everyone's rave reviews, I have to disagree. First of all, $4 side of French fries is like a joke ( see the pic for reference). It is smaller than McDonald's large in a similar paper box with twice as much price. I understand they are not known for fries, but for $4, I only get this much!? Deep pan pizza was so wet with so much sauce and not enough cheese. No wonder, they have extra cheese as an option. If you don't add any extra cheese, this is like marinara pie. Pasta was ok, but it's definitely better at Buca di Beppo for sure. This one negative review may not change anything considering how many 4-5 stars reviews this place gets. However, next time if someone contemplates to give a try to this place, remember what I said. Pizza port is better first of all, and second these guys were mad that we wanted to sit there because we took up multiple tables...? COME ON. Plus, there were very few tables that were enough to fit groups of even 6, so we had to split up the group. These people basically said they didn't want us in their restaurant because they didn't have enough tables that were big enough to fit our party. We were trying to hang out there after a baseball game with more than half of the team. A boy on the team, Blake, was trying to move tables for him and my son to fit at the table because the table couldn't fit all of them. One of the workers got mad at Blake saying he was doing something awful and he had to put them back. He didn't say it in a nice way either, he YELLED at a child. Do not recommend. read more

I've been coming here for years. The pizza is the best around. But they just refuse to put any sauce on the pizza or follow instructions to put extra sauce on. This starts with them barely putting sauce on their pizzas. I don't know why but I assume it's to save money. So knowing this I order with "extra" sauce, so it comes like a normal pizza would from anywhere else. EXCEPT THEY REFUSE TO PUT SAUCE ON THE STUPID PIZZA. At all. You order EXTRA and literally don't get sauce. WTF? Are you even legally selling "pizza" if there is no sauce? Otherwise it's just bread and cheese? I just don't follow? It's easy to find, has indoor and outdoor seating, & t.v's if you like watching sports but not my favorite place to eat. The workers were polite but very slow at getting us our food. It was not busy when we were there and it still took over a 1/2 hour to serve us our food. Our waitress was not very attentive....barely visited our table and took forever with everything. The food was not that great. The pizza may have been better with less cheese. If you love a thick layer of cheese on your pizza you probably would love it. It drowned any other flavors. My husband had a calzone and it was on the smaller side. My daughter had a "The Cheef" sandwich and said it lacked flavor. It was definitely a memorable occasion: we will not be returning. read more

Being from Chicago, I was exciting to learn about the menu here at this Chicago pizza place. I ordered the thin crust. And although it did have the texture and look of a real Chicago pizza. It just wasn't as good. It was lacking in something. I think the sauce. However I did want to try the deep dish pizza. So I called ahead so I could pick it up knowing that a deep dish pizza takes at least an hour to cook. And they said it would be ready in 35 minutes. Which made me very suspicious. I got there after 30 minutes and It was already Out of the oven and packed up. When I got at home, you can imagine my disappointment with barely any cheese in a deep dish pizza. Even my mom complained who spent years and years in Chicago, she could not find the cheese either. So we will not be going back. Italian Beef Sandwich is great but I was charged full price at Lunch happy hourly menu because I got a beer instead of a soda. I asked if the sandwich could be happy hour price with the beer cost added but you have to get the soda for the cheaper cost. Rosati's is a pretty cool little pizza joint that serves some pretty legitimate Chicago style deep dish. The pizza here is actually very good and tastes fairly authentic with a nice texture and delicious flavoring. The place itself also has Chicago sports memorabilia all of the place and the bar yields a nice selection of brew. Pretty everything about this place was legit, minus the service. The servers literally didn't even acknowledge the customers for roughly 15 minutes post seating. At least what they lack in service they made up for in authenticity and deliciousness. First time here and ordered the Chicago style pizza. The flavor of the sauce was excellent and the topping were generous and tasty as well. That being said, I'm kinda of torn on the visit because of the thickness of the crust is definitely not true Chicago deep dish crust. The crust was the same thickness of a normal pizza at most places I've been to eat. Maybe 1/8-ish? The crust around the edge was really tall so it almost seems like the dough didn't set long enough to rise fully. I've lived in Chicago and the crust is wayyyy thicker. I can only usually finish one piece of pizza in Chicago and feel stuffed. I ate three pieces here today and was comfortably full. Overall pretty good pizza and great sauce. Went yesterday, wanted my wife to check it out after the YEE this week! We showed up at a GREAT time(around 1:30 pm), the place had just a few customers. LOTS of tv's for watching golf and the news simultaneously. Nick got us taken care of with a glass of Strongbow hard cider for me(pint/$6.00) and iced tea for her($2.29). My lovely and lively dining companion chose the Harvest Salad w/Chicken($9.99/$2.00) with the signature sweet Italian dressing, which I very much liked. She said it was "fresh and light, without skimping on flavors, and tasted like it was actually crafted in the kitchen by a person, rather than being poured out of a bag". I had the wings, hot buffalo sauce, 6 piece($7.59).....the sauce was medium hot compared to pretty much every other place you go, and that was fine by me...just keep it in mind. The over the top awsome came with my four-topping, gluten free crust pizza($10.99+$1.50 EACH topping=$16.99). It's a 10" pizza, and MORE than enough for a big eater. I got sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and onion. This pizza was assembled and cooked to perfection, and it is without reservation, the BEST gluten free pizza that I have eaten on the west coast, and one of the best pizzas I have eaten anywhere. The crust was thin and crispy(tip: ask for it crispy), did not taste gluten free, but it was, trust me! The sauce is created in Heaven and brought down for us mortals to enjoy. On THIS occasion, I swear there was a hint of cinnamon in there. Cheese-brought in from the midwest, and lots of it, um...double up...umm-mmm! Toppings....REAL Italian style sausage, and the rest, just amazing as well! Bill was $56.45 with a generous tip, and will be back to Rosati's just as soon as I can! read more

A great family spot to catch a game, enjoy a meal and throw back a few adult beverages... Their the crust pizza is delicious! We started with the dough nuggets which are puffs of dough and make a good addictive starter especially for children as they are plain and good for sipping on pizza sauce. Tried a Dee dish sausage and spinach pizza - the toppings and sauce were good, but the crust was a little bland - wish it had some cornmeal or something to make it more flavorful. First time eating here. We've always on a daily pass by this place and have always wanted to try the food here. Finally stopped by on 10/16 for a bite. We started off with some appetizers, the cheese fries and wing. For the main dish we tried the Chicago style deep dish pizza. The cheese fries most likely will not order again. Tasted like the frozen type, a little old and stale, the cheese was cold and like a velveta taste so never again and plus I think $8 for a side of fries is a bit over priced. We also had the the wings, omg! The bomb! Ordered a large size and had them half hot and half BBQ. Very meaty for being wings was very impressed and surprised. Cooked/fried perfectly where the skin was crispy, just right. Both sauces where excellent and on top of that the sides of ranch was the right type of ranch if you know what I mean. We ordered the deep dish with pepperoni and sausage in the small size. We were impressed with the dish, very meaty with even and balanced toppings, the sauce was just the right amount, I couldn't complain.
