This place is located on the Encintas side of Cardiff State Beach. Parking is a nightmare. It is average bar food and mediocre cocktails. They do have a decent draft beer selection. We popped in for dinner at about 6:00 pm. It was crowded. We were able to find a few spots the bar, then moved to a table. It has a beachy bar vibe. Service was okay. The food came out price by piece. It was about 15 minutes in between the first item arriving and the last. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure our group had a great time. The food came out fresh and exactly as ordered, and the atmosphere was welcoming and fun. Steps away from the beach parking can be a little tight as is with most beachside restaurants. The menu was extensive and a little pricy. My friends and I ordered a variety of sandwiches and I personally ordered the ahi poke tostadas to split with my friend. The poke was delicious! Seasoned well with a good balance of poke to crunchy veggies (onions and cucumbers). The spicy was not overbearing at all. Unfortunate end to a near perfect Father's Day. After taking maternity pictures at Cardiff State Beach, I took my 8 1/2 month pregnant wife and 2 year old son to Tower 13 for an early Father's Day dinner. After ordering drinks and entrees, our rambunctious son fell out of his chair leaving him crying and upset. After returning from consoling him outside there was an instant change in service from the staff. NO ONE came to check on us for about 30 minutes. After multiple attempts to make eye contact with the staff, we had to get our own napkins and silverware in order to enjoy our meal. As my wife left to change our son, the check was dropped at our table, the new server explaining that my wife had asked for the check on her way out, which she did not. No one asked if we needed boxes and I had to approach the bar to receive additional to-go items. We'd frequented this establishment on numerous occasions but this was by far the worst experience we've had since having our son. We felt alienate and embarrassed, leaving my wife in tears that Father's Day was ruined. We don't know exactly what caused this lack of hospitality but with over 30 years of service industry experience between us, we know the situation could have been handled very differently. We came here tonight after a beautiful day at the beach in Cardiff, and it did not disappoint. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, and very nice. It's definitely more of an airy, relaxed and casual vibe here. The Padres game was playing on all of the tvs, which was just fine with us as we are fans. There is ample outdoor seating to enjoy with little slices of ocean view. We had the grilled shrimp tacos served with chips and salsa , and the fish and chips, along side cold blonde ales. The rating is based off of the cost. Our Sunday late lunch cost $62, no drinks. It seems strange to add a $3 surcharge for each taco. So....been going here for many many years. And considering the struggle that many places have had since the plandemic....i gave it pause for a while. But the service has gone down (they just seem uninterested) and the prices have gone up (and the food is not better for it). When I asked for ranch in addition to another sauce it was given to me but then I had a $1 charge on my bill. I don't mind paying for extras (ranch really???) but at least tell me. So that sucked! On a mellow Sunday we decided to head up the coast of San Diego to try out a different spot than we usually do and we ended up on the 101 in Cardiff at Tower 13. I had heard of my parents checking out this place but I had never been so we decided to check it out. It was a gorgeous day so we decided to sit outside and enjoy a couple drinks and some apps to share. We decided on the nachos which were super good and we got the larger size so we could share. We also got a cup of the chili that came with toast on the side, let me tell you those pieces of toast were so buttery and good I was obsessed! This should be the easiest thing to not mess up? The burger is terrible- just fix it! You used to have good margaritas, now they are just a splash of tequila in limeade. Tower 13 is a beachy sports bar/restaurant right by the water. They have tvs around the restaurant to watch the various games, and they offer covered outdoor seating with heating lamps. The food offerings include wings, pizzas, sandwiches, burritos, burgers, salads, seafood, and they had a few vegetarian options. I ordered the vegan burger with regular cheese and a side of fries. The burger came with ample amounts of avocado, and the fries were DELISH. They had a good amount of beers on tap. The cocktails looked fun- my friend loved the Mexican Mai Tai so much he ordered 3. A Disappointing First Visit to Tower 13 My wife and I came to Tower 13 in Encinitas this morning (9am) to enjoy breakfast and drinks with our alumni group while watching our college team play. We were excited--it was our first time there. After sitting down, we waited several minutes without seeing a server. I went to the bar to place a drink order, but the bartender, clearly annoyed, told me that someone would come to our table. Thirty minutes passed. Still no one. I returned to the bar and politely asked again. She didn't say a word--just grunted and turned away, as if to find someone. Fifteen minutes later, I saw another staff member taking an order nearby. I called out to him. He didn't even look at me--just turned and walked away, seemingly ignoring everyone else too. That was it. My wife got up and left, and we won't be back. Tower 13 may brew its own beer, but after this experience, I have no interest in ever trying it. Hospitality matters. Today, they made it clear it's not a priority. read more

Been here several times and every time the food was bland and mediocre. Tabletops that surround the indoor bar area have always been sticky, always. Servers seem uninterested. I have been there for happy hours, weekday evenings between 6-9pm and weekends. The result is always the same. Too many other food options nearby that are far more flavorful and not as overpriced. This place absolutely ROCKS! After of day of shopping along the coast, the family and I decided to try this place for some much needed dinner. Easy to find parking adjacent to the restaurant. They do have an attendant monitoring the parking lot to make sure no beach goers are using it. We were greeted with friendly staff upon arrival with a "sit anywhere you like". They have inside and outside seating, along with a spacious bar area. Our waitress immediately came to our table for drink orders and she was just an absolute sweetheart!! The food was fresh and DELICIOUS. I highly recommend the elote fries to start. I honestly would come back everyday for them! Everything else we ordered was so damn good. In town for a soccer tournament in Del Mar, we found ourselves leaving the fields on a Sunday evening with some hungry kids and adults... Our party of four joined several other families at Cardiff Beach Bar at Tower 13, and we were thrilled to find that they could accommodate our very large party of approximately 11 kids and 10 adults. We sat at the two long tables right near the entrance... kids at one table / adults at the other. We started out with orders of chips, salsa and guac. The chips were a huge hit as well as the salsa, but the guac was a bit underwhelming. Aside from the guac, everything else was great... Service was super attentive and the staff was following Covid precautions. Drinks at the adult table included beer, wine, and cocktails. I personally recommend the vodka cucumber agave cocktail. The kids enjoyed their pizza, burgers, etc... and adults had fish tacos, nachos, and a few other dishes. Everyone seemed content. Really irresponsible of the owner to put GF on an item that isn't. We ordered the GF fries per the menu. They come I start eating them and yup they are breaded. I asked the server and the manager comes out (really nice guy) to tell me they are lightly breaded. Ummm that's still breaded and I have celiac. He apologized and asked if we wanted anything else umm no!!! It was nice of him to comp the meal but now I'm super sick. This could have been avoided. Came here with my husband because it looked good online and had a bad experience. first they brought out the wrong burger two different times. We asked for no cheese, allergic, they brought out cheeseburgers and cheese fries.
