Came here looking for a good night on the town for a Monday and ran across this place. Monday's are karaoke night. The entertainment was fun but the food looks better than it tasted ‍ I got fish and chips and I upgrade my chips to their special Roscoe fries which are loaded fries with green onion, sour cream, ranch , bacon and cheddar cheese. At Roscoes and hour and a half into our reservation told us we needed to put masks on or leave when we were at our table together (two big girls). However his attitude was rude, he got some menus, took us to a crappy table in the worst location on the patio near a dirty old phone booth (there were empty tables everywhere), and dismissively said , "he ya go"! Well, we sat there for 10 to 15 minutes and not a goddamn employee came out to take our order for dinner. No drink order. Not even water. This review is purely based on the food. Made a reservation for brunch today 3/28. Menu is pretty extensive considering they were not exclusively a "restaurant" prior to covid. I ordered chicken and waffles. What I was received was a burnt funnel cake and cheap quality chicken tenders. Nothing about it looked like chicken and waffles. Not sure who made it but it definitely wasn't anything that was edible or even presentable. Server happily switched it out for Mac n Gouda bites which tasted fine. When the check came, I was surprised to see the chicken and funnel cake on it. The server had to be asked to remove it which he did but it should never have been on there to begin with. My favorite place to go when I'm in Chicago. In my regular life I rarely ever go to clubs. When I'm in Chicago I love them, especially Roscoes. First and foremost they are always playing the best music. When you're there, you just want to dance. Or maybe that's because you're wasted that you just want to dance? Anywho... The first part of the bar features a big square bar that people huddle around to order drinks from. There are some outlying seats that are sort of great to have if you're a prolly watcher like me. The back room is the dance floor where you rip off your shirt when Britney's "I'm a Slave for you" comes on. FYI I've never done that. The real winner is the pitchers they sell. I paid like $15 for a pitcher of Long Island. How can you beat that? Yes you're liver is mad but who cares? You're on vacation typically if you're doing this. Live. That's what it's their for. The more you drink the less there is for the kids. It's an absolute blast. Go to roscoes. Drink a few pitchers. Flirt with a few boys. Dance your behind and enjoy your night. Roscoe's is always pretty fun, but there's a lot of things I'm not a fan of. Firstly, for weekend nights, every time I've been there's been at least $10 cover charge per person which I feel like is a bit high. Also, the dance floor is always PACKED. Like you can barely move. And there's also always a huge line for the restroom too. If there was no cover, I'd be cool with it, but it kind of sucks to pay $10 to spend half the night waiting for the bathroom line to move and then being squished like sardines. The things I do like are they have good drink prices, option for coat check, the dance floor is fun, and there's multiple rooms within the bar if you're wanting a different vibe. Three of my friends got the hangover bruschetta and they loved it. Some of my friends got the Bottomless Package and they enjoyed the mimosas A LOT. I've been here a bunch of times for drag shows and the Rupaul's Drag Race viewing parties. It's pretty hit or miss overall. I would get there over an hour before the viewing party, stand in line and have a bunch of people push and run ahead of me and snag a better seat. It's not organized AT ALL. Most drag queen meet and greets are pretty shitty- you pay $10 minimum for a picture and about 5 seconds of interaction, definitely not worth it even for your favorite girls. One really great experience was the season 8 Drag Race party. They had 10 of the queens from the season and if you paid for the top tier ticket, you got a solid hour to mingle and interact with them before they began performing. There were only about 30-40 people there for this so I got to take photos and talk to each queen. It was expensive but it was worth it. I applaud Shawn for getting so many amazing queens to come to Roscoe's and I LOVE both Frida Lay and Trannika Rex who host the viewing parties and the club drag competition. There are a lot of comments about rude staff. I haven't experienced any of that personally. The drinks are weak and expensive-- I recommend getting one of the pitcher specials and splitting with a friend. They change daily (the blue and the pink are the best!); you'll definitely get trashed! One last thing I really appreciate is that they are very responsive on social media- there was once a drunk girl sitting on a guy's lap (blocking the stage) during a viewing party and I didn't want to get up and lose my spot so I messaged them on Facebook and within minutes someone told her she needed to get her own seat. Since the overwhelming majority of my visits here has been for the Drag Race parties and those are kind of a shitshow, I'm giving them 3 stars. read more

The first bar we hit up when we were in Chicago. The whole weekend was basically going to be a night out for us. New city, new things to see, new places to go. After getting off the El and walking a short distance, we arrived. We knew we were in for a good time when we saw a line outside. That is usually a good indication, a line equals a multitude of people inside having a good time. And that is exactly what we walked into. Such a spacious place too. I didn't feel the need to have to say excuse seventeen times before pushing my way through the crowd. Getting a drink here wasn't bad at all. Basically walked up to the bar, ordered our drinks and they were in hand in less than a minute. The bartenders here are great too. Definitely can get lost in here and spend a few hours dancing to the music. Good tunes blasting in here and ample space to go afterwards to cool down for a bit. read more

The review is for Roscoe's cafe only. It was a beautiful spring day so I thought I'd stop for a late lunch. I was greeted warmly by the hostess, Mercedes. Since there were several table available, she let me pick a table then she proceed to take my drink order. Few minutes later, she brought my drink and asked if I was ready to order. I was trying to decide between couple items. She raved about the Roscoe Burger. so I took her suggestions. I ordered the burger (medium) topped with cheese and sauteed mushrooms. I picked tator tots for the side order. My server, Tony, brought my meal within a reasonable timing. What a great meal. The burger was served on a rye bun with the garnishments of lettuce, tomato and pickle on the side. The burger was done just right and juicy. While I'm enjoying my meal, I noticed the other patrons were enjoying their meals - decent size portions. The prices were reasonable for the area. I had a really bad experience here Sunday night. I'll begin with the experience started off fine. A few friends of mine were in town and they love this place. I've never been to a bar like this so I was excited to tag along and see what it was all about. They had $1 beers, not sure if it was all beers or just Miller Light's but that's a good deal at least. Where it all went wrong: They have a pretty large dance floor and the entire room was very dark with strobe lighting effects. It was hard to see in there which gave me a weird feeling. The dance floor is also raised and they have a ledge around the perimeter of the dance floor that people were leaning/sitting by with their drinks. If you're on this lower leveled part, you are basically eye-level with people's waists who are on the dance floor. It was really crowded and like I said really dark and I just kept having this weird feeling. Sure enough, I looked down and my purse was wide open and my entire wallet was gone. I had my jacket around my waist tight because I was hot so that may be why I didn't feel any tugging, but the person who did this knew what they were doing. I had a small crossbody purse with a full zipper so it wasn't easy to get into. I've replayed the scenario so many times in my head and the only thing that makes sense was that someone sitting/standing by the lower level did it. I immediately went to the bar tenders to tell them what happened. A tall, thin male bar tender I was talking to could literally careless about what I was talking about. I was visibly upset asking if he could check to see if anyone turned it in or what he could do to help and telling him all about what happened and he rudely stopped me and shouted "I DON"T HAVE TIME FOR THIS. IT'S GONE. I'M BUSY." I honestly had no words. I knew I didn't want to waste my time with someone like that so I just left. I told the bouncer what happened and he was respectful at least. He murmured something in his walkie but not sure what it was. He also had a long line of ID's to check so he brushed me along and I just went outside to start cancelling all my credit cards. My friend ended up finding my wallet in the trash near by but everything was gone. All of my cash, credit and debit cards, and my ID. Awesome. Not one person from this establishment showed concern for what just happened. A crime just took place against one of their customers and everyone could care less. They were just focused on serving the next person who had money for them. How ironic that all mine was gone? Maybe I should have borrowed a $1 from a friend just to get their full attention. Huge disappointment and heads up for people that want to check this place out. I'm wearing fanny packs from now on. read more

This place is fun! My girlfriend wanted to see some drag while we were in Chicago, and I decided it would be best to avoid Roscoe's on Thursday due to what I'd heard about the popularity of the Drag Race viewing parties. Plus I thought it would be more fun to see some local queens, and I have no regrets. We saw on the website that they have "Roscoe's Drag Race" (in some places I believe it was called "Chicago's Drag Race") on Tuesdays, a sort of amateur night competition. We have something similar in Orlando that we enjoy so we decided on that night. At first we were nervous that it wasn't happening since we couldn't find an event on Facebook or any advertisement of it for the specific date on Roscoe's social media, and then we realized that they usually post about it the day before or the day of the event. Frida Lay, the host, was an absolute delight to watch, and we got to enjoy some talented local queens like Coco Iman, Irregular Girl, and Chanita Heart. The drinks weren't super strong but they also weren't too expensive, and the bartender was friendly and helpful. We tried to get back to Roscoe's during our trip but our schedule was just too packed. We'll be back on our next visit and hope to see some of these queens again! read more

Came here for a packed night to watch drag race live. We couldn't get a table or even standing room near the stage--fine. We didn't make reservations so we understood. Part way through, my partner was starting to feel sick so he needed to get air. We stepped out for a few seconds and then tried to go back in, but the bouncer wouldn't let us back in. After we had spent a lot of money on food and drink and saved our spot along the wall for an HOUR. Extremely disappointed and upset. What a waste of time and money. read more

From the outside, this place doesn't look very big but there is large area as you head towards the back which opens up to the dance floor. I liked the atmosphere of this place the only thing is that they charged a $5 cover for a Friday night, which was alright, but I much preferred another bar in the area which had no cover. So I didn't really see the value of paying the cover. There are in and out privileges though. The drinks were also watered down. I downed 2 vodka sodas in this establishment and barely a buzz. I had to question my first few sips if there was any alcohol in it at all, and I'm a light weight too. This place had a nice vibe to it and I would come back again if I came in a group. But as far as drinking here, I would try somewhere else for stronger pours. read more

They have FREE BURGERS!!! it's the only reason i came really. The burgers are pretty basic. You get in line and get a bun, meat, toppings, etc. it's like an assembly line. It's pretty basic which is good after a day of drinking from mimosa brunch a couple hours before. It's a big venue. They have a few bars so you'll never have to walk back all the way to the front to get a drink. They make sure you're never thirsty although you'll be surrounded by thirsty guys so watch out. read more

Good ole Roscoe's is like the sugar daddy of Boystown. This local spot had been here since I would shop 99th Floor, or The Alley as a young derelict. The front bar is a nice round bar, which I guess gives you the best angle for people watching. The back is all bumpin and grindin (STOP you perve... I meant a dancefloor). The bar is large, but quite deceiving from the outside. The music is loud, and commercial, the crowd is diverse and friendly. Drinks aren't too pricey, at least when I went. Although I would've liked to have written a great review for Roscoe's and was very excited to go into the bar and see what I have to offer we were unfortunately a unable to gain entry into the bar because the doorman Jose was not able to do his job correctly. Not only did he take more than enough time to check out both me and my boyfriends ID, in the middle of it he let a random Caucasian woman go in and be barely checking her ID. We are both well above 21 and have never had a problem with IDs, traveling or otherwise, in the past so it's unfortunate that we were not able to experience such a great bar because of clear discrimination read more
