The only downside is parking is atrocious and just be resigned to the fact that you're going to spend $20 at one of the small lots and don't be fooled by the $3 parking because in tiny small print it says the first 15 minutes is $3 with a maximum parking fee for the day is $20.

I've headed to DTLA in the past for fabric, but I wasn't looking forward to that for just 1 yard of black cotton. So I grabbed a GF and headed to Canoga Fabrics in Canoga Park. While I was at first a bit surprised at the small space, I quickly realized there was A LOT to offer. HELLO Joseph! I asked for black cotton and he showed me a sampling to check out while he finished with other customers. I found THE PERFECT SHADE OF BLACK! I just needed 1 yard, so Joseph got that cut quick as a whip, I paid cash, and out I went. $8 for a yard of 60" black cotton is VERY FAIR. Sorry I forgot to snap pics, I think I was delirious with delight at being able to tick this errand off my list! I now have a new fabric option for the rare times - yeah, like once a year - I have a project to complete. While there is a Public Parking lot behind Canoga Fabric, I parked at a meter on the street and fed in enough for 2 hours so we could check out a few other places I was surprised about along this corridor of Sherman Way. The quality of the fabric is nice and the guy helping me went out of his way to recommend a different thread to more closely match the fabric I was buying (I just grabbed the closest almost-color I could find). There are lots of intricate things that are involved in getting coupons off of my phone and into the system and it is never something I can understand so every single time I have to wait for the one employee that is trying to help the six or seven self check out that people don't want in the first place and it's just becoming too much of a hassle. The staff are always friendly and helpful but they're just simply isn't enough of them. Every single time I go there I stand in line and I say that I want to wait for a human and I offer people behind me to go ahead of me to use the self check and none of them want to. They want the human interaction as well. I really think Michaels is taking a misstep with this direction especially if they are going to continue to have the coupons be so difficult to get off of your phone. I can get the paint cheaper to begin with off of Amazon but I enjoyed the human interaction. Every single time I have gone in recently I have to wait between 10 and 15 minutes to wait for the one employee that is overwhelmed with having to help every single person at every single self check. And this is 10 or 15 minutes waiting if you are at the front of the line. This has been more than one location as well. This is the same for The Studio City location and the one in Encino.
