Two massive males...Sioux the mastiff and Hamlet the Dane!

Rose City Vet is the only place one should go for giant breeds...we have two Great Danes and one English Mastiff...Dr. B. Is the best...she knows high end treatment and her skills are world renowned. Her staff is 100% caring and very professional and helpful. Great team. I highly recommend this vet for all dogs but especially for the giant breed.

This place is amazing. My primary Vet. Dana Bleifer was such a professional. I opted to get my sog Courage a Vasectomy rather than a traditional neuter. She was able to answer all my questions and put me at ease about the surgery. The entire staff was so accommodating, they knew I was traveling quite a distance for this procedure since its still so new. They prioritized Courage and I was able to pick him up well before the scheduled pick up time so I could handle the long drive back. Christine was also awesome, she gave me text updates the entire time he was pre and post operation. Courage is doing amazing. The scaring is so minimal you can barely tell he got a Vasectomy. Courage not just my dog, hes a part of my family and they really took care of my guy. I am so thankful for you and your entire team. Thank you for taking care of Courage so well!

We first came to Rose City Veterinary Hospital when our Havanese puppy, Bailey, was just 8 weeks old. We were looking for a vet that respected homeopathy and holistic care -- and we found that and so much more. That was 14 years ago, and we have never once been disappointed. From the very beginning, the veterinarians helped us understand how to be "the pack leader" with Bailey in a loving, respectful way. They guided us in how to support her with homeopathic remedies, even in conjunction with vaccines -- always honoring our values while ensuring her health and safety. Over the years, every single technician and front desk team member has been consistently kind and compassionate -- not only to Bailey but to us as well. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Francesca, who has been a comforting and familiar face since 2012. Her warmth and presence have meant the world to us. Bailey received care from their acupuncturist and, most consistently, from Dr. Strickland, their chiropractor, who helped keep her youthful and mobile well into her senior years. (I'll write a separate review for him -- he deserves it.) We've had our share of scares and concerns over the years, and the team at Rose City has always handled them with deep care, honesty, and compassion. When Bailey needed dental work in her later years, I was extremely nervous. Dr. Brickmann and Dr. Bleifer were incredibly patient and kind -- listening to my fears and taking the time to walk me through everything. Dr. Bleifer, who performed the dental surgery, was gentle, thorough, and kind -- explaining not only what happened during the procedure, but how we could support Bailey's recovery and long-term dental health. During Bailey's final year, and especially during her annual physical earlier this year, Dr. Bleifer was again a steady, compassionate guide. She helped us understand what might be ahead and gave us space to prepare -- emotionally and practically. And finally, when the day came -- the day we hoped would be far off but arrived too soon -- my daughter and I brought Bailey in after she suffered a severe neurological event. Though we knew it would be her last day, we needed to speak with Dr. Bleifer before making that decision. Her kindness, directness, and gentle compassion made an unbearable moment a little more bearable. We will never forget her grace. We are forever grateful to Dr. Bleifer and the entire beautiful team at Rose City Veterinary Hospital for their years of love and care -- not only for our sweet Bailey, but for us as well. They treated her like the precious soul she was, every single time. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

I waited a few months to write this post to make sure I truly recommend Dr. Bleifer for Ovary Sparing Spays. We came to Rose City specifically because we had multiple recommendations to go to Dr. Bleifer for an Ovary Sparing Spay. It was a 2 hour drive from our home and it was worth it. The ladies at the front of the office were kind and helpful. Dr. Bleifer did a great job with our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Fox. My husband and I liked her personally as well. Our girl's surgery healing went well and nothing unexpected came up. Her scar is healing beautifully.

I've been coming to RCVH for a few years now. They do an excellent job of taking care of my fur babies. There's two people who are always so welcoming Francesca and Rosie , they always go that extra mile to make us feel welcomed and always there to lend a helping hand. Francesca always follows up with us after every appointment and is there to answer any questions . I've recommended several people to RCVH and have made sure they deal with Francesca before the Dr's, and they provide positive feedback from her. Dr brickman she's a chefs kiss always gives me a piece of mind when it comes to any concerns to our furbabies . The entire crew there is amazing! Definitely recommended you give them a shot.

I came to Rose City Veterinary Hospital based on a referral from my dog trainer, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. I have a working-line Dutch Shepherd, and finding a vet who understands his needs has been incredibly difficult. At other clinics, I've been told that my dog needed to be sedated or taken to the back without me present--none of which I was comfortable with. Dr. Khorikyan and the team at Rose City were absolutely incredible. They truly listened to my concerns and allowed me to be a part of the exam process, which made a world of difference. Being able to handle my own dog during the visit made everything go smoothly, and I really appreciated the respect and patience they showed us. On top of the outstanding care, their pricing is very reasonable. I was charged for an exam, bloodwork, and a urinalysis, and the cost was far more affordable compared to most other vets. Most importantly, I never felt pressured into unnecessary treatments or tests--just honest, compassionate veterinary care. I'll be moving both of my dogs to Rose City permanently, and I can't recommend them enough to anyone looking for a vet who truly understands dogs and their owners.

My dogs neck. Big fresh bruise after vet visit. This place is absolute garbage.
    Trish M.

I should've known better than to go back to this clinic. I brought my dog in for an emergency walk-in, hoping she'd be treated with care. Instead, when I got her back, she had visible bruises, and they had clipped her nails and cut her fur without asking or informing me. None of this was discussed before or after the visit. This was not the first disappointing experience I've had here, but it will definitely be the last. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who actually cares about how their pet is handled. This place is trash.

Rose City helped us get all our cat's certifications squared away for our PCS, and got him up to date on his vaccines. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Would recommend them to anyone who happens to be traveling through the area, or looking for a good vet for their cats.

From the front desk to the surgery center and everyone in between Rose City is amazing and 100% goes the extra mile. I feel like we are family when we walk in. We drive from west hills to Pasadena for Dr Bleifer, Gloria, Bridgette and everyone else. Carbon loves going to the vet, which is crazy... but it's true.

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

On the day we had to euthanize Betty, our daughter first thought she couldn't be present but then changed her mind. We were charged an additional 125 dollars just to be in the room with her. That felt really insensitive on an already heartbreaking day. We spent around $2,000 total between treatment and euthanasia. Dr Evelyn is always thorough in giving treatment and answering all questions, though she now doesn't have many appointments available and has her other doctors take the vast majority of patients. Dr Li is ok but not as good as Dr Evelyn, he often does not follow up with test results and you have to track him down to get answers. Not to mention their prices are insanely high, even for CA standards. And when you finish a tech appointment, they just try to rush you out of there and hand your dog over, you have to really dig to get some information on your pet or how to use medication. The main issue is that Petsadena now directs calls to a call center operator with AI-like humanoids. Most of the time they don't even answer. There was a few years where they were constantly losing veterinarians and the wait times were long but honestly the last year or two has been very stable. Parking is very limited so I like to get there a little early to get a spot. I make appointments online but I've been able to get same-day appointments on the phone with no extra cost when an urgent matter arises. The staff is usually pretty nice and they've gotten way more efficient with the overall appointment. When you have an appointment you'll fill out a form online asking basic questions about why you're bringing the pet and it captures their diet. However, they ask you the same questions again when you do the intake so I'm not sure why we fill it out before. When the vet tech summons you, you'll take your dog to the scale before going to your room or if you have a cat they'll go to the room and then you put the cat on the table scale. I really like the price transparency at the end of the appointment, it's nice to not be surprised at checkout. They also only charge you out after the vet techs have done the procedure. Sometimes my cat can only tolerate one of the three recommendations so I'll only be charged for the one they complete (and have to come back for the others) but I like that they respect my girls' comfort! I would recommend this place, though I do have pet insurance so the costs aren't as prohibitive to me.

I was agonized and told her that I was supposed to be with the dog during this process. At this point, I had been weeping for two hours and just wanted to hold my foster. Another 45 minutes went by, and I was told to meet them outside the back of the building. While I was sitting there, I could hear employees in the back room laughing and making fun of clients. Rats were running back and forth across the fence. It was dark when the process finally happened, and I was able to go home. It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager. An apology was issued to the rescue, but never to me. Having to euthanize a pet is a devastating experience. They made it ten times worse than it had to be. My heart goes out to anyone who has been treated like this by this hospital
