I wish I had read the reviews before stepping in. I should have waited to go to a great spot in san jose. I appreciate Rose for taking me in when the salon was closing. However, i felt like she wanted to keep adding things for me to get so she could charge me more. I wanted to get my nails removed initially but she insisted that i get a gel refill and a pedicure. The gel nails are lumpy and too thick. She also overpainted and it looks sloppy. Then one of the nails came off 3 days after. When I went for her to fix it, she scraped my finger when she was filing. I felt like she did that because she was mad that she had to fix it. It's not my fault she did a crappy job. She charged me $5 for that Now it's been a week and my pinky nail came off. I stopped in for a mani because it was convenient. Lena was nice who did my nails and she did a good job, not great but good enough... I'm not sure why she works here. This place is dirty & dusty, the nail polish selection is poor. I was looking for a simple pale pink natural look and the polishes looked old: some were thick and some sounded like they were thinned out so much when I shook them to try. I couldn't even find a color I liked...when I took the top off about 4 of them the lids were all gunky and challenging to get back on- appearing old & not cleaned. I wouldn't go back- it's cluttered, dirty and terrible and I had to watch Vietnamese TV that was loud... totally not relaxing! Literally just decided to walk in on a Sunday. I was greeted pretty quickly and got a $12 eyebrow wax within minutes from Loc Tan Nguyen. It wasn't really busy so this may be a hidden gem in the Hilltop area. She is definitely a hardworking manicurist too. She made sure to hustle back and forth between clients and check to make sure everything was OK. I came in for an eyebrow wax and left with a pretty French manicure to boot! I got the best hand massages from her too. No warm towel but your arms get oiled up and all knots are loosened. I don't know what magic she possesses but I was close to falling asleep it was so good. I've been coming here for so long that an update is way overdue. I have nothing but positive experiences here. I remember when I once told Rose that I wanted to drop by after work to have my nails done but i didn't because it was already late. She said just give her a call next time and she'll wait for me. She was even willing to open earlier to accommodate me. The offer alone deserves 5 stars. I haven't had a nail job I didn't like no matter who the nail tech was. I usually just drop by without an appointment and rarely have to wait too long because I try to go during off peak hours. They are probably more expensive than other nail salons in the area because they are located in a strip mall so their rent must be higher. I trust this place for my pedi and wax that I don't mind paying a premium. I've been coming here for over 7 years, they've earned my loyalty. read more

This is a review of the massage services only. (I have seen their mani/pedi work on others' nails, and it's been beautiful. I, however, have not bought those services here, and therefore can't speak on them.) I was referred here by someone who I don't believe has had a true professional massage...ever. Because I was in so much pain and my regular options were unavailable, I decided to try them against my better judgment. Halfway through my 60-min session, I asked them to skip the rest and just focus on two sections. When that didn't go well either, I finally ended it after 30 mins. I thought about sticking it out as I had reserved a 60-min slot, but I needed a therapeutic massage, not a rub down. Once again, I should have followed my better judgment, which says nail salons should stick to manis, pedis, and perhaps waxing and leave the therapeutic massages to the professionals. This nail salon is okay but I wouldn't go back because the pedicure is damn near $35 without scrubbing and didn't polish my toes properly. My manicure gel was combined with the regular nail polish so they can charge full price for the gel color and it didn't dry properly so it started peeling off and the owner said to call later to get it fix but when I called she said to come the next day and was very rude about it when I went back and I ask if I can change the color on my toes and nails she said extra $20. I'm like the colors are chipping off. She said nothing happened yesterday with your toes. I was glad that she didn't charge me to polish it but the color still didn't dry properly. The second time I came here it was pretty late, around 7, I didn't know what time she closed but she took me in for eyebrows & a gel mani/pedi. When one of the workers asked me what I wanted she didn't understand also, she tried to make conversation but I barely understood her and she was very quiet. She my was doing my nails she was so rough on my fingers (I was getting acrylics) she glued the fake nails on she was squeezing my finger so hard it hurt. And when she was filing my nails she literally did not just cut me once not twice but THREE TIMES. I was honestly in so much pain and on top of that she took ONE hour because she was helping other customer while helping me. It's that time of year again. That time when I'm looking at my footisies and mittens and I'm thinking to myself, "My goodness Winter, what have you done to my nails?" After class yesterday, I actually wanted to wait out the traffic. I was in the area, and decided to remedy my ugly nail syndrome with a pani and pedi here. There was only one other customer inside getting a refill, so they were able to accommodate me right away. What I loved was that they were able to give my mani and pedi at the same time -- while a lady was working on my little piggies another one was working on my digits. They were both very efficient and worked fast, but concisely. The goocher was that I didn't check the price. Usually it doesn't matter to me if I have my mind set on something. But when it came down to signing the receipt: 32 smackaroos. I quit going to this place a while ago, and recently had to go there because I was strapped for time. As soon as I got there, it all started to come back to me about why I quit going back there. First off, there is only one licensed manicurist in the joint and that's Rose the owner, her husband and daughter help but they are not licensed. So I got her husband, and he didn't know what he was doing. All of my nails have humps on them because after he cut them midway down my nail bed, he didn't apply enough acrylic. They are the most over priced nail salon ever, I usually go to walnut creek and get my white gel tips refilled for $30, she charges $50!!!! My aunt went there too, her nails popped off the next day. So if water damage and humpy nails are your thing, this is the place to go!!!! read more

The only services I've received here are eyebrow waxing (and dye clean-up) and eyelash tinting. They do such a great job with eyebrows. The best was a younger guy (20's or 30's), but I haven't seen him there in quite some time. There's a younger girl and an older woman (Rose Le herself, I believe) who do eyebrow waxing, and they do such a great job. They'll trim them, too, if needed. Ages ago, I would dye them black to match my dyed hair, and they would (with a lot of work) remove the dye from my skin and even everything out. I also have a very good eye for this type of thing, and my brows are always even. I've been to so many different salons (both cheap and high-end), and I've never been as satisfied with my brows. They've always done a good job dyeing my brows and lashes, but the last time I had my lashes done, it burned my eyes really badly. She didn't check on my as often as she should have, and I ended up with a dye-stained face for a few days. I won't get that done again. Eyelash-dyeing, if you're blonde, at least, requires a lot of up-keep. Mine look pretty funny, if I don't wear mascara (which I don't like to do). I love my eyebrows, though. It's $10, and every few months (I can let them go that long), I to Richmond from Berkeley to get them done. They alwasy try to up-sell a lot of products, but that's fine. read more

I went to this place when I had an hour lunch break, desperate to get my nails done. I had shellac that was half peeled off (oops) and knew I would have no time to go to my regular place over the weekend. I went in and asked if they could do shellac in under and hour and the woman that helped me (I think it was Rose) said of course and got me started right away. She was very sweet and careful, and did a great job. I was in & out in about 45 mins which I really appreciated. She encouraged me to come back again for a pedi or waxing. I might! My only issue was that it seemed a little dirty... kind of like they cut corners, and they only had about 15 shellac colors (white/pink/red) but overall really great service and a good result! read more

Horrible experience I had today!!! I ask for a thin white tip and she gave me the thickest white tip EVER!! she cut me various time. She was just trying to go fast. She knew I wanted short square nails and she gave me some round in even nails. I went early in order to not be rush but I guess that's how she works. These are the WORSET nails I have ever had!!! Let's just say her customer service is good!!! Rose Le gladly accepted the challenge of doing my grandmothers nails and feet when I walked in and asked if she was closing. I brought my grandmother in and she helped me guide her to the spa chair where she would be getting her pedi done. She let my grandmother soak her feet for a while before starting the process because it's been YEARS since she had a professional pedicure! While my grandmother was getting her feet done I went a few doors down and shopped. When I arrived back at the shop my grandmother was nearly done. She didn't put color because she didn't want her to mess up her nails. Overall, my grandmother was happy. Only issue for me is the fact that she charged me $60 and my grandmother was only supposed to be getting her feet done and the lady did her hands and feet!!! Smh read more

The first time i went i was so happy with outcome, the second time i was a little disappointed but the third time i was pissed, i was overcharged and my gel started peeling the sane day. But i went back and told her and she discounted me for a new full set and gel color change. She apologized as well and i did realize i did ask her to hurry so i could get to work so i blame myself. I used to love going there, I've been getting my nails done by them for almost a year. When prom came around, it was a no-brainer that I'd go to them, I mean I go to them for almost everything when it comes to nails and eyebrows. The nails came out great, but a week later I got athlete's foot. At the time I blamed it on my boyfriend, but we both got rid of the athlete's foot. The first week before senior year I go to them to get a mani/pedi. Not only did they use a drill bit to remove the nonexistent gel from my nails, but my cuticles were wrecked. The gel dripped, and looked sloppy, causing the woman to "fix" them, which was really just her digging into the sides of my finger to scoop up gel. Once they were horribly set, we moved onto my toes. I thought everything was going well, ve me a free foot massage and helped me put my flip flops on. The paint lasted a really long time and I was able to get it in the same color as the gel on my nails. It mist be the thing they use to separate your toes, because sure enough I cought athlete's foot a second time from them. I'm all for second chances, but giving the athletes foot TWO times in a row is too much. Now I need someone new to do my nails and eyebrows. (Oh, and my eyebrows came out too thick. The only good thing that came out of it was somebody else paid for me.) read more

I went there this pass weekend lady that did my tips seemed like she was in a rush, she tried to convince me to just get a regular mani and top it off with gel. I told her I was looking to have a set done and I wanted to top it off with regular nail polish since I love painting my own nails. She went ahead and immediately started glueing the tips on to my nails she didn't bother to trim my natural nails at all. I told her I wanted almond shaped Nails and it seemed like she misunderstood because I ended up with some Square nails and others square round and I even had round nails! I just assumed she will fix it later on. (She didn't) after all that she then proceeded to sell me up on gel polish; I repeatedly told her I wasn't interested, i told her I wanted a nude color with a glitter accent she went and brought back two pink shade of nail polish I told her it wasn't what I was looking for she got frustrated and told me to go look for it on my own because she "didn't understand" what I wanted. I finally got fed up and just wanted to get out of there and went with a shade she suggested she quickly painted my nails; which honestly I think I could have done a better job painting them myself. They are a little pricey but most of the people in the shop do some beautiful hand painted designs that I havent been able to get anywhere else.
