Brought my mom here for her birthday lunch. Restaurant is located in downtowns Naperville downtown so its busy most of the time. Allow yourself Time to find parking if not doing the valet . Valet starts at 4p when I asked. There is a parking lot but it's usually full. Restaurant is nice, had relaxed atmosphere. We were seated quickly I did make reservations. Service was good, there were 6 of us. We ordered fried calamari and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. The calamari was not as crispy as expected but good. The mushrooms were tasty and had good flavor. I ordered the lemon chicken and it came with penne pasta with marinara sauce. Others at table had pizza, the skirt steak(both styles) and eggplant parmigiana and were happy with their choices. The meal was good and prices were reasonable. Definitely will be back. We were seated with hard as rock bread and some water while we waited for a waiter to come to our table. After viewing the menu and waiting 20 minutes, nobody came to our table. Just a busboy asking if we wanted more bread. We didn't want more bread-we were hoping a waiter would come by to take our order. Beautiful downtown Naperville and Rosebud in the center of it! Food was excellent. Service was fast and waiter was friendly. The attire is business casual, which makes for a great date night. I ordered the Italian Pork chops. They were huge and very filling. We also ordered the fettuccini Alfredo, which was delicious. The calamari was also very good. I was very disappointed on my visit this evening. Normally I have a 3 strike policy before I write a bad review and this visit had 4. 1. We ordered the Spicy Calamari to start and it was very soggy and rubbery. After a few bites we were not happy and moved it to the side indicating that we were done. The waitress took it away and didn't ask us if we were happy with it or anything. Not a strike towards the waitress as much as the kitchen. 2. 15 minutes after ordering our Chicken Parm the waitress came back asking us what we would like to order. Confused, we started repeating the order and she remembered and saw the waitress go straight to the computer to actually put the order in. (Chicken Parm was really good, to be fair) 3. The 1st old fashioned I ordered (labeled a specialty cocktail) had a big bite to it indicating to me that they used cheap whiskey for a $12 cocktail. I normally don't complain about cocktails but for being advertised as a specialty cocktail and the price, I expected better. 4. Halfway through our meal I decided to order another old fashioned but using a different whiskey and the waitress was unfamiliar with the types of whiskey the bar had. After I chose the whiskey I was waiting and waiting for my second drink. We finished out meal and I gestured to the waitress I wanted a box and I could see from her expression that she forgot my drink as well. She brought me my drink after everyone at the table had finished their meals and getting ready to leave. Now I understand that due to current world events with social distancing and wearing face masks we should all be cutting the waitstaff some slack, I completely agree. I have not visited Rosebud in quite a while. I'm glad I did recently. The veal Parmesan was outstanding! Outstanding flavor, and the breading was delicious with the sauce. The size was unbelievable. Good job. This was a pick up order and the gentleman at the host desk did a great job making sure that I was satisfied with everything that I needed. First I think management/owners need to invest more in their kitchen staff, because the food was not up to par. I ordered the Arrabbiata Fusilli; the pasta was fresh and was great texture, but it was WAY too spicy & the chicken we added on was like thin cardboard (extremely dry). I would never expect this from a 30 dollar plate. Mind you, I am Mexican and I can handle my spice. My sister shared with me & it obliterated her taste buds to the point where she couldn't enjoy the other food. (It was her birthday too). Service was great. The absolute vast italian food in Naperville. The Chicken Marsala is a must. The portions are huge. This comes with two chicken breasts and a side of pasta. The past that comes with it is topped with marinara sauce. Do yourself a favor and sub Alfredo. It's an extra cost, but's totally worth it! We always have the same server. Very pricey for how average the food is. We ordered the fried calamari, the margherita pizza, and chicken parm. We were recommended these popular dishes, but were unfortunately bland. Interestingly, the waitress we had was very kind( opposite of what many negative reviews say here). Also got 2 cocktails which were probably the best part & the bread. Everything else was definitely disappointing... bill came out to $140 with the tip. Pretty good ambiance & service, but can't recommend this place due to the food :( read more

They were spot on with ascertaining our satisfaction and telling us the specials of the day etc. the place was very clean, and the host was nice, smiled, abs made eye contact. The reason for 3 stars is because for the price of pasta, it should be good, but the fettuccine Alfredo was terrible! This was the second worse I've had in my life. The sauce was bland bland bland! I had to add tons of salt and pepper (and I'm not a salt/pepper person). Also, the automatically brought my 3 kids meals first, and we don't like that- we like eating all together as a family at once. I wish they would have asked if we wanted that instead of assuming. The kids were nearly done with their meal by the time we received ours, so of course they were super fussy (all 3 and under), while we had to rush to eat ours. It's just a tip- ask what the families want. Also, they charge a 3% surcharge on the bill (on top of already extremely overpriced pasta). I don't think we'll be returning. read more

The workers there are so ignorant and always in a rush.. no one wants food smacked on the table... they need to be trained way better or please go somewhere else. Don't give this business your time. I asked for a drink with a vodka substitute and they didn't oblige. Calamari was too tough and flavorless. Cavatappi was amazing! Walked in at 7 pm Thursday November 3. Promptly greeted and seated by hostess and manager. Nick was our server. Amazing man. We do enjoyed talking with him. Such an attentive server. The BEST restaurant experience we have had since pre pandemic. Everyone from the hostess to the bus person were professional and kind, great attitudes and we were waited on like we were the only people in the restaurant. Food was excellent, drinks and wine excellent. Such a great experience. Thank you Rosebud for renewing our faith in restaurant dining. We had lunch at Rosebud on a Saturday and it was a delightful experience. Surprised to find not much of a crowd despite it being a weekend day we were seated immediately and placed our drink and food orders rapidly. The wait service was spot-on, our waitress was there when we needed her, every time, and our water/drink glasses were kept full a majority of the time. Strangely, the food preparation seemed to take just a bit of time (strange because it was not busy at all) but nothing that was any real cause for concern. Speaking of food, everything we ordered arrived at the same time, was hot, tasted delicious, and was amply sized given the prices. They really do a wonderful job here on the food. Their menu has a little bit of everything and everything (that we had) was fantastic. Additionally, they have a kids menu which can be described as I have regarding the main menu. Given that we were dining with children I'd also like to point out that the paper on the tabletops is perfect for drawing (whatever, wherever) with the crayons provided. And, to our delight, the manager popped over and provided on-the-house (small) orders of strawberries for the kid's post-meal. Great touch! If it isn't clear by now I'll state it plainly: this is a great place to grab a bite and I highly recommend it. We're looking forward to returning again in the future. read more

Nice to get out during Covid. We sat outside. It was a bit loud due to the traffic, but it was a lovely evening. The service was good. Food good. A bit pricy but every item on the menu serves 2, so it's easy to get out for a reasonable check so long as everyone is willing to share. They do a great job at bringing extra plates and such. My favorite is the fried eggplant salad. It's HUGE so there is plenty to share. The tiramisu is good as well. We'll be back. read more

Let me start by saying I Love Rosebud in Naperville, it's been my favorite for years! However today, ya let us down guys. We went for lunch at 11:30, hoping to beat the lunch rush. Not so fresh bread was brought out first. We each had a red sangria, caprese salad (3 slices of tomato with moz on top), and we split the gigantic chocolate cake. We get the bill and it's $78! Whattt?? You charged us a 3% surcharge, to split the $15 cake?? Seriously?!? No other patrons ever entered the restaurant the whole time we were there, throughout the whole lunch period. See photo below, first we thought how sad and then we got the bill! No wonder. I expect to pay $78 for 2 full meals, not one drink each, an appetizer each and one split dessert. And a surcharge on top for your only lunch customers, come on guys! I see now the receipt says they'll remove the surcharge upon request, whattt?!? Why even charge it at all when 3 slices of tomato is $16.50, a glass of sangria is $11 and cake is $15? Isn't that enough? Lots of options in Naperville, gotta make it worth our hard earned money to return. read more

We come here occasionally. It's my favorite restaurant to dine. The food is very good the portions are huge and tastes really good. Tiramisu is one of best I had so far. Four squared noodle dish is my favorite. Nice staff very friendly, organized and clean. On the busy nights it gets loud in the kitchen that is very noticeable but other than that good place to dine. read more

Do not come here if you are gluten free. They have GF penne pasta, but then so does Olive Garden. All about the same. I got chicken piccata. It was gluten free, but the sauce was water because they took out the thickener. Have they not heard of corn starch? Nasty. Every time I come here, I'm disappointed. Food was pretty good and service. But I took acknowledge of the fact some guy(looked like a manager) was being incredibly rude to a busser. The busser was very nice and kind. He didn't speak english well though which was fine. The other guy asked him to do something and was very rude about it. The busser was going to fix it but he had to do something really quick. The guy had a stank face when the busser went to do a simple task quickly. I just though this was very rude, waitresses and busser was kind. The guy who looked like a manager was at the front where you check in your reservations. Maybe it's just the higher ups that are slightly rude, but everyone else very kind. Also noticed all waitresses and hosts were all caucasian and poc were either bussers or in the kitchen. Might be a coincidence but just something I noticed. Should be Zero Stars. This review is not based off of food experience, since it did not get to happen.. and never will. It is based off of poor attitudes, & trying to make a customer feel stupid. This establishment was called ahead of time, weeks in fact. Asked if a small dog can be brought to eat with us out on the patio, and we were told yes. So reservations were made online, with notation that there will be a small dog with us and to be seated on the patio. And that it was also for my Mothers Birthday. I verified the reservations online, but felt more comfortable talking to someone to be certain. .My Mistake. *The first call (I called, to confirm the reservation), I was informed that a dog was not allowed. I said I was disappointed and that the situation was frustrating, & to now plan a birthday dinner last minute.. that I don't know what to do.. & that I would have to discuss the situation with my family, and call back if I needed to cancel the reservations. **The second call (they called me), I was being berated by a woman on how a dog is Absolutely Not Allowed With Out Question.. as if I was arguing about it, or as if I was still planning on showing up with a dog even after instructed not to. SHE informed me that they aren't even on a website *dog friendly patios in downtown Naperville* any longer for a reason (which I did not know existed, but I checked, and Rosebud IS still listed on the site). ***The third call (they called me AGAIN) to confirm my cancelation for the dinner, and further explained that a dog can't come unless it is a service dog, and that the situation is like "trying to park, in a no parking zone." To which I stated that I was not arguing about it, and all of this was not necessary. ******* If you want to unnerve this restaurant, mention that you are thinking of bringing a non-service dog. Just get ready to receive lots of argumentative attitude filled phone calls with condescending ignorance.******* SO VERY DISSAPOINTED. read more

My very busy family and I dined here last night since we were all together (which is a reason in itself to celebrate), and the youngest kids wanted Italian. We were greeted by a gregarious and larger than life waiter who we were thrilled to think he was going to be our waiter, but instead we ended up with a less enthusiastic server. For the 5 of us, the bread basket was only enough for 2 people, and only once were our water glasses refilled (we drink a lot of water). Our food was just okay and definitely did not warrant the high prices we were charged. Our server never came back to pour us more wine (we ordered a bottle), and after our entrees were served, she never came back to check if everything was alright (which was not). We had to ask the hostess if she could flag down our server for us because of a problem with an entree, and to top it off, we were overcharged on our bill. Eh, sorry, we will not be back. Incredible service by Saul and the entire team. The drinks, bread, apps, salad and main course were perfectly timed. We came in at 530 on Saturday and out at 7. Exactly what we wanted. To be clear, I am not rating our dining experience, because it never happened. My wife and I arrived just a few minutes before our reservation at 6 pm on Saturday night. We were going to be seated at table right away, however, it was right next the entrance of the establishment and prime for other patrons behinds to be on your table while they wait. I politely asked if it was possible to be seated at another table (knowing it was at the busy hour). The male host at first was very helpful noting that there were a few tables that had just paid and would be leaving in 5-10 minutes. My wife and I agreed we would wait the estimated 5-10 minutes. While we were waiting several other tables were seated and the host stand kept saying it would be a couple more minutes. Finally after 30 minutes at this point a female hostess took over and were were told they were setting the table for us. Another 15 minutes passed, still nothing. At this point we were furious as I could see two other tables set for two not being utilized. The host had said that there were kids at the previous table and that it was a mess. As a previous server, I know it does not take 15 minutes to turn a table. When I asked why we were told it would be just a few minutes and then 30 minutes later still nothing, the host stated that it was because we asked to not be seated by the door. She mentioned there was another table near the kitchen, but "assumed" we did not want to sit there (never given the option). The customer service at the establishment was very unprofessional. We will not be visiting this location again. We walked out without eating. read more

I arrived today to pick it up only to find that they'd lost that order form and would need 40 minutes to make the order. 40 minutes for 4 pasta dishes and some salads seems a bit long to me.
